I got a TigerDirect catalog and near the back it had information about a product called X-Keys. Basically they have different sizes and variations. I went to their site and they have a keyboard card as well as a "X-keys USB Switch Interface" with a description of "Connect any switch (from a doorbell to a multi-position rotary switch) to any of the twelve programmable ports and easily program the switch to perform any function on a computer."There's also a reference to "home cockpits" on another page and apparently they make the "RailDriver" for train simulators.http://www.xkeys.com

  2. The last two 1/2 months I have been busy trying to create a ERJ home cockpit. It has came out sort of generic but, still trying to keep the ERJ 135/145 look. I made the yoke from wood then carved it to resemble the ERj and used the ch products flight yoke buttons and wiring for the guts.I also used the throttle board from the ch products yoke for the throttle which I just spliced in more wiring and moved to another location after ripping it out of the yoke and making another housing. The panel is plastic (white colored) with gray primer and is backlit. The lettering are tags that I had engraved to cut cost rather then engrave on the whole panel which also, leaves for later p…

Hello again ;-)This is fairly wideview specific, so I guess their forum is good for that, but I figured many of us use multiple outside view screens as well, so let me know:Is it easy to setup WideView so, that it just starts up from the powerbutton without user intervention? The reason I ask is because our C172 sim will need a PC upgrade, and the Parhelia has got to go - it is being the bottleneck. So we'll probably end up with 3 PC's with fast PCI-Express cards each driving one screen, linked with wideview. The problem is, the setup needs to start by itself, since not all of the users are simpit-savvy, many dont know how to use FS2004. But they know how to fly a C172. Our…

Would anyone have or know of where one could get a schematic for an interact Mobile Monitor Color Lcd Screen. This was one of the companies that made screens for the PSONE. I have a couple of these and have no idea of where the connections would be for the conversion to VGA input. Any help would be appreciated. Milt

I've seen a few posts from people wondering if they can get the PMDG 737NG to work with IOCards/FSBus/etc and the usual answer is no because they don't use standard offsets for all their switches/data/etc.So I had a question in regards to that and maybe a possible solution. I hope you guys will respond and let me know what you think. The Question:Do we know if all the PMDG 737NGs switches/displays/data are accessible though FSUIPC but we just don't know what those offsets are?The Possible Solution:If someone could write a scanner of some sort that would probe all the different offsets looking for changes on the panels, we could write down all the offsets that were found a…

Hello,I'm currently building a VCPT of a 737 with one computer and 4 monitors. I use a PCI express video card, dual output plus a Matrox G450 dual output too.My question goes to the start, because I've never been able (Except with 734 from Dreamfleet) to start flight sim with the undocked windows -such as the overhead, radio stack, cdu etc.- in the position I want. Sometimes the throttle does.Any help here, or the only chance is a macro?Using 737-700 PMDG.Best Regards, Roderick Woolvett

Hi Folks.I am in FS2004, and am trying to undock and move gps to another monitor. This can be done, but as soon as I hit alt/enter to remove the menu bar from the outside view monitors, the undocked window moves back to the outside view screens again - and back in docked mode!!I was able to do this in FS2002 without any problems. Is 2004 able to allow undocking at the same time as a menu free outside view?FS2004 is eating frame rates, and I have had to massively upgrade my PC to cope.Seriously thinking of going back to 2002 - but Vox ATC is 2004 only!Does anybody know if there is a similar system out there that does the same thing - but in FS2002 as well??Any help gratefu…

Started planning 737NG Autothrottle.Have a few questions, hoping a kind gentleman with experience could give me answers..- Stepper motors.. As I understand it there is no feedback from the motor itself, like there are from servos. Movement is based on pulses given from a controller moving the motor a certain amount of steps clockwise or counter-clockwise. "Calibration" is based on the controller "counting" number of pulses given (+/-) thus calculating the position. So far so good, but what happens when A/T is off and the handles are moved manually. Invoking any speedmode or TOGA thereafter - wouldnt the controller then have lost its knowledge of the current position??- An…

Hi,For a while, me and my very good friend Eldad Rubin, were working on a cockpit project. We planned to build one for a very long time- an ERJ-190 simulator, but we didn't have the room for it.Now, after a long pause on the ERJ-190 project we decided that we must have some sort of cockpit, but since the availble room, we couldn't build something too big.We decided not to build a specifc replicate, but a cockpit that with it we will be able to fly single & dual-engine GA aircrafts. The simulator is not finished yet, however, it is very close to be.We would love to hear your opinion about our project!Best Regards,Tal Eliasi & Eldad Rubin.http://gamc.atspace.com/defa…

Hi.Installing FS2004, it got to disk4 and TOKYO.cab and stopped and said "encountered a disk error writing to C:program filesmicrosoft gamesflight simulator 9scenerycitiestokyo.cab" and asks is your disk(presumably meaning the harddisk)full? "is the file in use" (how could it be?) My hard disk has 70% spare space, system clean with only the game on it! any ideas anyone? I chose "ignore" for the sake of getting an install.Another hassle is a blue screen coming up - usually when I try to move gauges to another graphics card (all works great in FS2002). The message is long, but basically it says machine_check_exception. Possible hardware/software installation fault Disable r…

I currently have two displays set up on my machine, but would like to have a third. I've been thinking about installing a second video card to achieve this. I don't know much about card compatibility, so I thought I'd ask the experts. I currently am using a Radeon 9800 Pro and am planning on purchasing a Radeon 9600 as the second. Any issues that any of you may see? Thanks in advance.

I've been building this computer since last November...eheh,AMD 3400, 512 Corsair ram, 2 Raptors in Raid 0. Now I'm considering video options and would appreciate advice and opinions. My budget at the moment is 150.00. I am looking at the 6600GT and the 6800. Both cards are available in the price range.1st Question> Which one?2nd question> I plan to use at least 2 monitors as I am now. 1 for guages and Flightkeeper type displays, the other for the main view. I think either of those two cards will do nicely in this application. But I am also building a Simpit and it cries out for 3 monitors. What is you guys opinions of adding an inexpensive PCI card for a 3rd monitor?…

Hi,I just finished my first Vertical Speed Indicator (VSI). Full handmate and I'm proud at it as it is my first attemptEarlier I already had build the Servomodule from FSBus and already had played with it. At that moment I thought that a normal servo had a turn-angle of 180 degrees. Because this VSI has an angle of 300 degrees I have used a gear-ratio of 24 to 12 so the 180 of de servoshaft would be 360 on the needle. So far for the theory...after a lot of work and sweating these days, today I tested this VSI and it came to me as a suprise that the shaft of the servo just turns a 100 degrees instead of the expected 180. So the needle didn't get far enough on both sides. I…
