Hi everyone,Well after an 6 month hiatus from simming and 8 years since being in a real plane, I'm back in ground school, taking flight lessons, and simming again. Simming is fun, but flying is GOD LIKE! I'm like a kid everytime I get in the plane- HUGE grin from ear to ear, and for hours after my lesson. I have about 5 hours total now, and I am just about landing all by myself (Instructor in the plane of course). This weekend I will for sure. We are flying Warrior IIs. The instructor likes to make fun of the plane, but personally ANY plane I get to fly is the best plane in the world! So anyway, the hardest part of flying for real is simply "information overload"- do…

I would like to know if there are any current or "about to be" 737-NG pit builders out there from the UK....I'm in Bristol, and I am thinking of starting a 737-NG project, but I am a complete NOVICE, so I need LOTS of advice....If you are close, i might ask for some "on-site" advice :)From what I've "researched" so far, it looks like I will probably go with things likePhidgets...Engravity Panels....FMC, overhead panels, switches knobs and led's etc...Cpflight MCPProject Magenta for the instrumentsBuild my own MDF Frame to house everything etc...What else ?Dunno where I will get throttles, centre pedistal, flight controls etc..And last but not least ...I will have NO idea …

Hi Folks.I am sure this must be very simple for some of you to answer, so apologise in advance if its too easy ;-)I have been looking over how cockpits are put togther, but one thing I dont understand is how numerics get there info from (say) FS2004?So if I want to make a simple comm radio for my FS2004 install, how could I get the numerics to read out and match whats in FS2004?I know you can buy complete USB style units to do this, but am interested from a complete home build point of view.Look forward to hearing from you.David.

Can anyone tell me in plain language how to get ordinary photos of my sim onto the forum?I can scan them into my PC, but the file is always too big (over 1mb). Is there a trick to getting them down to 150kb? The shots are 15cm x 20cm, but I can reduce them if required. How physically small have they got to be to suit the requirments? The files are jpeg and if I have to convert that - I don't know how!! I am certainly a newbie in this area!Any help?TONY. U.K.

Hello fellow buildersAfter a long time searching for some important dimensions we were lucky enough to had a chance taking pictures and measurements on real B-17 parts. Now we have approx. 70 percent of all needed dimensions for our project. It's still a lot of work, because the whole setup will be build first in 3D CAD before any woodwork will start. Here are some pictures of the first new.1:1 scale templates.Note the drawings of the instrument panel on the third picture. There are made by Bruce Claxton from http://b17panels.com. Thanks for the great support !Regards,Dan

Made another pcb etching today, and soldered the components into the board.. This starts to look like a good way to build avionics.. aluminium front panels and pcboard on the back..http://tigert.com/aviation/vatsim/cockpit-stuff/xpdr1.jpghttp://tigert.com/aviation/vatsim/cockpit-stuff/xpdr2.jpghttp://tigert.com/aviation/vatsim/cockpit-stuff/xpdr3.jpghttp://tigert.com/aviation/vatsim/cockpit-stuff/xpdr4.jpgWoop! :) It seems to work! Now I need to do some SIOC coding.. :]//Tuomas

Greetings all,Looks like another input board option is available to our hobby. Betainnovations has a new board they're calling the GammaTron. 64 digital inputs, or up to 32 rotary inputs. (That's a lot of rotaries on one board.) Also there's an expansion port that will allow up to an additional 64 inputs with an add on board. A lot of other nice features - check it out on their website at betainnovations.com.Just passing on the info - I do happily own several of their boards but am not affiliated with the company.Best regards.

Hi,i saw today the last excellent video from Project Magenta's 737 cockpit and i saw many switches-circuit brakers like the real aircraft. The first was a toggle switch, this one for A/T which was switching to off position when pushing the A/T disconnect from throttle. The second, was the ignition rotary switches, also with magnetic contact.Do you know where we can found and in which price such switches?regardsEddie ArmaosAthens-Greece

Hello,I bought for 5 Euro a USB joystick with the intention to use the board and potentiometers to build a throttle quadrant.I connected the USB joystick, assigned throttle (engine 1 and 2) to Y axis and X axis in FS2004 and in FSUIPC (registered v3.40) I adjusted the Idle, Rev and Max point and assigned Z axis to the vertical trim.Everything worked out very well without levers "shaking" as I had previously experienced with my self-made joystick (through the game port). Then I opened the joystick very carefully not to cut any inside wires, took off the board, buttons and potentiometers.I connected the joystick again but with surprise the X and Y axis didn't work anymore wh…

1. Is this possible to simulateously use BIFS and Keyboard Emulator from Beta Innovations?2. Is this possible to access more complicated functions in FS (available only via FSUIPC offsets - like setting SquawkBox3 XPNDR modes) with BIFS? Or is BIFS only suitable for commands available in FS assignments menu?3. Should I expect better response times with BIFS (than with Keyboard Emulator) and GammaRay64 + Cyclotron (especially with rotaries)?

All,I have an Airbus model CDU complete with screen, lighted keyboard and complete FSBUS circuitry for sale. This unit operates perfectly, was built for me by Carlos Mazei(spelling???). The keys give a nice "click" when pressed, it is completely backlit and has the folowing suport circuitry:FSBUS COMIII CARD, 2 FSBUS KEY CARDS, 1 FSBUS RELAY CARD (FOR ANNUNCIATORS) AND ONE FSBUS DRIVER CARD, 1 12VDC AND 1 9VDC POWER SUPPLY.I am parting out my sim so I have lots of other stuff too - modified FLight Link throttle (King Air), King Air yokes attached to modified PFC yoke, Flight Illusion turbo prop engine instrument clusters, a real King Air throttle light plate, and much m…

Hi Guys,At my web site page new!, you may have a look at the first pictures of my Overhead and Pedestal with Boeing style Rotary Switches (from FDS).Finally I could replace the good old Knitter switches with which I started home cockpit building three years ago...The Knitters were fine, but this is a way better solution, i.e. fixed positions and from the position of the switch you can tell the state of the corresponding switch in the sim-panel... Note that is implementation became possible thanks to the Level-D's SDK SP2 and my FSCONV program.Nicowww.nicokaan.nl

I just read an interesting review at Tom's Hardware. Gigabyte has a motherboard capable of supporting ten (10) monitors. The motherboard has four PCI Express graphics cards slots, plus you can also install a standard PCI videocard. Not sure how the processor would handle FS2004 frame rates, but still an interesting setup. A good alternative to Matrox three head card.http://www.tomshardware.com/motherboard/20051004/index.htmlRegards,Richard

Hi folks,I have 2 go flight modules (GF-166) connected to my computer.Although they work correctly, it often happens, that when i turn the button to increase/decrease the frequency or the OBS, the figures on the display do not always follow the button, but sometimes they jump around. At first i thought, it was a problem with the button itself, but when I bought a second module a few months later, it had the same problem.Who can help? Thanks in advance,Michael.

Haveing just watched a re-run of the events of 9-11, specifically those of flight 93 (God rest their souls) on the Discovery Channel, I was wondering if anyone on this board knows whose 757 Cockpit was used for filming? I did notice the displays were using Don Lafontaines FreeFD Software. The FPS display was still visible on the PFD. (the FPO called me an anorak for spotting this!!).I just ask because sometimes it is a home builders cockpit used in these type of tv programs, and if this the case, maybe we could see more of it, It looked great.Simon WebbAKA The Porcupine

Does anyone use or know anything about the User Input section of FSC? As some may know, the Integrated Flight Systems developer is no longer supporting FSC or the Photon interface system. Additionally, the User Input section was never added to the user manual. I want to add switch commands for SA WXR weather radar but have no knowledge of hex or what values to put in FSC. SA WXR does have hex values for control via FSUIPC. http://members.chello.at/addongauges/manua...rs%20manual.pdf Regards,Richard
