Hey folks, made a big change over at the simpits.org site yesterday. The site is now going to be a "blog farm" dedicated to simulation of any kind. What this means for you is that if you have a project that is simulation related, be it hardware, software or a cockpit project, you can get a WordPress blog set up for free. You'll get your own WordPress blog (http://www.simpits.org/<your username>) that you can configure as you see fit and include whatever plugins you like. If there is a specific theme you'd like to use, just let me know and I can provide it for you. (the "default" installation I've built includes the Plugin Manager so you can install those yourself)Plea…

Hi !I repost here a post I sent on the Opencockpit forum, but since it's less than reactive, I put it here, so maybe the card developper will read it and get a chance to correct the bug (I don't have his email, so I cant send this directly to him)Hello All I have had a problem that inputs are not properly detected at startup. As far as I can analyze, it comes from the code inside the PIC 16C745 on the USB card. As an example, I have two master cards and the following inputs ON at startup : 05-17-23-32-42-53-69-78-86-107-113-132-143. here is what SIOC or Controlador see at startup : 05-17-23-32-42-44-69-78-86-113-132 NOW, this is info for the card designers : I analyzed th…

Hi all, this may be a dumb ?, but what is this MDF. some of you use for your cockpit building. In the pictures it looks like fine grain particle board. In this area of the usa.the only thing that they sell labled MDF. looks like compressed card board. not very machinable. thanks.

After I press Stop, Reset and then Start buttons it's exacly same story, first 5 bytes read ok, after that errors only. I checked the board visually and resolded it but the problem remains the same. I have no more ideas what can be wrong, do you have any?Greetings,Papa Sierra

Good Morning/evening all.As there is no source yet for the FSBUS stepper boards, I have ordered some from Futurlec. I converted the .lay to gerber and excellon drill files and sent them off for a try. They should come back made and drilled. I have ordered 5 boards and will let you all know how they turn out. While I was in there I changed the drill hole sizes for all connectors to 1.0mm, as they were .6mm which is too small.PS: Dirk when I opened the .lay file from your website there were 4 other boards with other circuits on there as well. Don't know what they were for, but just letting you know.Regards to all,Rob FonhofMelbourne Australia.

Good Morning/evening all.I'm doing too much reading here and getting myself confused. The MegaJoy uses the ATMEGA16-16PI.The FSBUS uses the ATMEGA8535-16PI.Q1)Are these basically the same chips and interchangeable?Q2)Can a ATMEGA8353-16PU be substituted for the ATMEGA8353-16PI?Does anyone know of the best (includes cheapest) supplier of these chips in Australia. I'm running out and can't remember where I got mine. Many thanks in advance.Rob.Melbourne Australia.

Hi, what are the pro's and cons's of using slide pot's. I have hacked two logitec rudder controls and notice the pots are very small, however the work fine everytime. I a have some panisonic 10k slide pots that only have one inch of travel, they are verywell made and work fine in the sim. I notice that most builders use pots wbout 4 inch. long.your comments please. thanks.

I just posted a new stand alone gauge on my website. It is a stand alone directional gyro. Please give it a test drive and tell me your thoughts. I would like to develop more if it is well received. It is similar to the gauge in the Jayco GAuges package but much smoother and has some nice features like frameless operation and window position and size memory. It is on the software page at the bottom. Please post to the forum as well, I would like to chat sometime. For those that have downloaded my EFS50 package, I will be releasing a new version that does not eat up 100% of the CPU so it is much smoother. I will advise when it is complete.Regards,Jasonwww.FlightDeckSof…

Good Morning all.I have just completed a FSBUS card and I'm having another strange problem. When connecting the card the green LED illuminates with the jumper next to the ATMEL chip set. I used Pony Prog to set the Security settings, and then erased the program. I then wrote the 'dio.hex', which verified OK. I then tried to set the CID but nothing is happening. I tried it using the ISP cable, or the 10pin cable and still nothing. I disconnected everything and then reconnected and re-ran Pony-Prog. Security checked OK, read the FLASH(Program) file and everything checks out. I've checked the wiring and all seems OK, as the ATMEGA16 seems to be reading/writing properly.A…

Hi all,As a home cockpit builder I became frustrated with the available options for displaying instruments on a 2nd monitor. It's possible to drag all the various panels for your aircraft to a second screen, but the end result looks more like a bunch of windows on a PC desktop than a cockpit. There are also various stand alone applications available which can display gauges but these range from fairly pricey to eye-wateringly expensive, and give all your flights a somewhat similar feel as they only offer generic instruments or a very small selection of aircraft. Consequently I set about creating a set of high resolution fullscreen panels with large clear gauges, indicator…

Hi all:I'm in the design phase of building a Bendix King style HSI. If it turns out they way I hope it will, I'll be making limited numbers for sale. At this stage, I'm still refining the design, but I expect to have something workable before the end of the year as far as a prototype goes. So God willing and weather permitting, I hope to have some for sale early next year. WARNING! They won't be cheap. Is there any interest?

Hi all,I have been thinking for a while for the best (auto)throttle solution for FSBUS. Simply: I want to build a box with throttle control lever which will either be controled from FS (when auto-trhottle is active) or manualy controlled by pilot. How to make ir moving:1) Servo? But: how to get the servo position when in maual mode and how to remove the servo force in manual mode (the servo tries always reach target position and will not allow chamge it manually).2) Stepping motor?Do you know a reliable stepping motor with enough force for reasonable voltage?3) Normal DC motor? How to reach enogh accuracy? And then, how to get the throttle position back to FS? I assume that t…
