Has anyone ever tried wiring a switch to the ground and 2 inputs ?The idea was to have e.g. wire 1 to 10 set as "a" to "j" and then 11 would be "shift".Is it possible to use just ground and 1 for one pushbutton and then re use ground with shift AND 1 ? Then you'd get "a" for the one pushbutton and "A" or "shift+a" for the other.Has this been tried ?I assume this for sure is not possible if you use switches or rotarys that stay "on" .. but maybe for push buttons it would be possible ..??

Hello allI know the LED's are Conrad part number 146560-88 but they will not sell or sent to the USA.My question is - what part number from another company can I use. I have the PCB Boards for the led's that have the pins on top and bottom. What LED's are the USA boys and girls using? Thanks to allKen

All,I am modifying the GF-166 radios to resemble the radios in my FDS King Air panels... thought I'd post some pregress pics... this is a test setup at this stage - you can see the panels arenot complete and the cards and terminal blocks are not in their permanent configuration.

Ok, So I buy the set of Suncom throttles through SWAP Meet forums, they are in excellent condition with Software CD's included. The problem is that I cant install the Drivers. The readme instructions do not account for WINXP.Now to make matters more complicated,I have Rudders and a Yoke running off the gameport. So I bought 2 adaptes, an AT->PS/2 for the keybaord emulation and a Gameport->USB adapter.I plugged everything in and a few lights appear and the adapter name shows in the Game Devices but still no GO!Can someone please explain to me how to get these babies up and running?JohnP 2.53 GHZ512 RAMWINXPGFORCE 4 128MB Ti4600http://homepage.eircom.net/~eamonnmca/imag…

Hello,Im currently building an A320 Fixed Based Simulator with the mock-up and everything. Even though it's a similar mock-up not a full scale thing I tried to recreate the lay-ot of the diferent mfd's.Because of this I used three monitors wich are all together.A few days ago I noticed one of the PFD showing some kind of flow' or activity, I turned off the monitor wich lies next to the one with the problem and it stopped. What is the minimum distance to avoid this problem?. It's a viewsonic E70f+sb and a viewsonic e773.Thanks a lot for any reply.Best Regards,Roderick Woolvett

Hi EveryoneI've been away from the simming community for some time, work, work, work not enough time, I'm sure you all know the story.Anyways after going to some of the simpits sites I was quite dismayed at the lack of life in some of them and thought that the bubble had burst or everyone had gotten bored and given up or something. I was so glad to see that things are VERY active here, and there have been some developments since I've been away, especially in my area of interest [737NG] Now it seems everyone is doing 1 of these now, but boy the information available now is really great to see and I can seriously start to progress mine.Cheers to everyone and Hello.ZK-SHB

Here we go again, more questions!Having discovered that FSBus seems to cater for PM software primarily, I would like to assume that other software like FreeFD and OpenGC (but especially FreeFD) are totally compatible? For instance, if I wanted my FreeFD ND to display airports, I would press the 'a' key, but only if the window was in focus. This presents problems if I also want to display the PFD in the same monitor and also wanted to be able to change things on there too. This means I would have to flip between both the PFD and ND windows before I could enter a command. There lies the problem. Now, am I correct in saying that the PM settings in FSBus can also change the di…

Here's another for you guys and gals out there to scratch your heads over....Having trawled through the FSBus stuff, it would appear feasible to implement some form of motion platform using either servos or steppers. The questions I now want to ask are as follows:Are servo motors actuated in a similar way to stepper motors, and if not, how does one know how far the motor has turned before it is required to stop? Are there any decently powerful stepper motors that are relatively cheap that can be used in place of a servo motor if the servo motor is not deemed accurate enough for specific rotations? What's the best way to increase the voltage output from an FSBus board to the…

Hi, lately i've been thinking about a way to add some turbulence and limited motion to my cockpit chair. What I was thinking was since the cockpit wont move, I could build some kind of platform in wich the chair will be and the platform would react to turbulence that's happening in the simulator. If the wings roll, the seat will also roll for 1 or 2 degres and when descending/climbing the seat will also descend/climb in small movements. What do you guys think of it ? Is it feasable ?? Practical or it will add some realism to the flight when passing bad weather or in wind shear conditions for instace???Best regards,Pedro

Help!I've been toying with the idea of emulating a lot of the input commands via switches etc from the keyboard, but instead of using a keyboard I want to use switches. Is there a way of setting a switch to on without it repeating the key input? This is necessary for some of the more obscure functions in FS2004 that are not covered by FSBus and the like, as these can have different inputs for on and off. Things like the pitot heat etc, if I flick the switch to on (and therefore sending the appropriate key to FS) it will continue to alternate between on and off without any means of stopping it apart from disconnecting the switch.I'd love to hear about any suggestions as to…

Hi guys! I have been reading everything I can on home cockpits for a few weeks now. I'm working on convincing my father that this would be a fun project for the both of us to work on.My first question right now (and I'm sure I'll have more) is... what are my options as far as the 'outside display'? I have a good idea of how to do quite a bit of the rest of it, but this one is puzzling me.I know some use projectors, but at first glance this option seems to be far too expensive. How about using televisions? 27" TVs (even flat-screened ones) are about $250 each, so three of those next to each other would still be only $750 (a fourth of the cost of a projector). Problem there,…

I've see allot of messages with people tring to use key commands with certin payware flight models with very little luck. It seams that the designers are programing the flight models or panels with out keyboard input??? The questions I have are, what flight models are everyone using for their home cockpits? Are you using a payware of freeware? And if it's payware, are you able to just purchase the flight model from them at a reduced cost or do you still need their panel as the interface??From what I've read on the fourm, it looks like DF737 seams to be one of the only "top of the line" payware AC's that allows keyboard inputs?I've beed giving it some thought during my pla…

Is it possible to use two USB Joysticks on FS9 one as a side stick and one controlling rudder and hopefully toe brakes?2. How far apart would Airbus pedals be?3. What is their approx size inc toe brake section.4. Is this information detailed anywhere? Thanks for any helpTerry

I will be eventually building a dual seat tandem style pit, something like a fighter/trainer & was wondering if anybody knows how they handle switches on a real aircraft that both pilot & co-pilot have on their individual panels, for example lets say something simple like NAV lights, If the front seaters switch is in the ON position & the rear seater decides to turn them OFF then the front seaters switch is still in the ON postion, using standard toggle switches. So how do they handle it in a real situation, the only way I can think of is that when the switch moves position on either panel it toggles the the logic & lights an indicator to show ON or OFF, am…

Hi guys,I am currently in the midfinal stages of planning an throttle quadrant. But I came a cross an problem.... wich materials to use???I saw that many of you builders use materials like wood, aluminum and some other stuff. But I thought making the throttle levelers from multiple layers of acrylate plates would be the most simple solution.Acrylate plates are availeble in different thicknesses ranging from 4 to 8 mm.How do you guys think about it?thanks,Gallie
