Hi everybody,I have a problem with the FSKEY board of FSBUS. I think once again it's the beta software to blame, but I want to be sure. Using latest Beta of FSBUS2.I'm using normal GreyCode Rotary Encoders along with the REDEC circuit. In the FSBUS documentation it states that you can define one (1) or more Rotary 2 inputs per row and that the row(s) using this kind of input (Rotary2) cannot be used with anything else. Fine and logic. The problem that I have is that while the first Rotary2 functions perfectly, any subsequent is not recognized nor functions properly. Here are the details.Rotary2 CID x, ROW 2, SubID 0. Connected to connections 0 & 1. Works fine.Rotary2…

Hi guys,My power adapter to my Compaq FP700 LCD monitor failed the other day and finally I managed to get hold of a site that carried the spare part, www.ambry.com. But look at the price!!!340934-001 Compaq Universal Power Adapter $210.00I can't believe it will cost as much as a new LCD monitor?!So, does any of you guys have some good schematics for a power adapter similar to this one? Specs are IN 100-240VDC 1A 50-60Hz, OUT +10VAV 2.5AThanks,

Hi All,As I work on finalizing the design for the soon to be released "Photon" parallel port output device, a loose thread I'm trying to gather is the size/style of 7-segment display digits. My own cockpit in progress is a 737-700 and if my measurements are in the ballpark then 0.3" wide by 0.5" high displays are required (note: dimensions are for actual chip, not the digit itself which is slightly smaller). What are others using? What size requirements would you all have for various aircraft? Colors? If possible I'd like to make the display board fairly generic - you'd add as many digits as you need (e.g. 3 for MCP Heading display) and mount it. This may not be doable if…

Well I said in an earlier post some months back that I would test FSBus to see if you can have input & output boards on the same ID, well I just did a little test here & it works.I just setup an LED board on ID-1 & a KEY Board on ID-1 and routed a switch to the led & all seems fine. One interesting thing I have noted you cannot program a KEY controller to have an ID above 7, has anyone else found that? It could be just a bug in the PIC code but I'm not sure.Cheers Glenn.

Hi all, I completed my own mcp for 744 precision simulator, I used an old keyboard to do this, it's very easy to use with an usb keyboard as primary and my mcp as second, but with ps13 there are a lot of keystrokes implemented.now I would like to use this mcp with fs2004 but I can't assign keystrokes for e.g. vnav, lnav, fl chg, is there a way to do so?thank you very much for your helpivohere are a few pics of it http://users.pandora.be/dci

Has anyone noticed there is 100K resistor from the 5V rail to Pins 2&3 on 16F84 (TX on the BUS) in the FSKey circuit diagram, but on the component layout it has been omitted.Should it be there or not ?Regards Glenn.

I don't know if you are aware, but there is a company that is making really cheap gauges for your cockpit:http://www.simkits.com/Have you got some feedbacks about that company? Is it reliable? Are the instruments of good quality? Do they work well? Greetings Minos

Hi All...I'm making great strides on my King Air thanks to help from folks on this forum...hope to have pictures soon for all.I'm am baffled on what type of rotary switches I should use to activate my radio frequencies. I have searched the forum and have come across rotary encoders, Korry switches...but I'm confused. All I want to do is turn switch left to change 10'ths, 100th's aand right to change 1's,10's and 100's.I have the Radio shack 10 posiition rotary...could it be as simple as using this ? Not sure how to wire up to my FSKey though ?Sorry for seemingly dumb electric questions but the electronics portion of this is the hardest for me. Cadum supplied me with the F…

All,I'm pretty sure this has been posted in here before, but this is a great site for real aircraft parts - yokes, pedals, seats, panels, and lots of oddball stuff: http://www.oncealoft.com.Also - I am posting this in the SWAP MEET and maybe on EBAY as well if no one here wants it, but I have a 727 Second Officers seat - excellent condition, fully articulated, for sale... $150 + shipping. Drop me a line if interested! You can see it at my site.

Hey guys, Ive decided to embark on this project at last after thought. Please could someone give me a hand with the Flight deck dimensions for the 737NG?Also is it possible not to hooked up on all the programming side? EPIC etc? Can the flight deck not have keyboards linked in to the software? I intend to buy a 737 UBS throttle. And I think I can get a UBS FMC set up and MCP also and for that matter a EFIS. So where would all the tech programming come in?Any feedback would be great!Simon

As I commenced my first tests with the FSBUS basics I came across to a strange problem.I use FSBUS 2 and this may be the cause so I'm posting this to see ifothers have the same problem and if so that Dirk is notified.Setup consists of the following:Single PC : PIV 2.4G, 512 DDR/333 RAM, WinXP Pro, FS2002, FSUIPC 2.975FSCOM connected to COM2 via standard Serial Cable.1 KEY with just one rotary encoder connected to Row 2, 0(1) via REDEC.1 DISPLAY with 5Digits 7Segment displays.Supply is my own construction regulated 9V (actual output 8.87V).7805 output measured to be 4.87V. REDEC supplied by the 7805 output.Setup works fine and the Rotary is recognized as Rotary2 with no p…

As promised, here is the schem + BOM for the one chip USB device. This will give you guys a chance to start putting it together. But first a few tips...1) Don't solder the PIC IC onto the board. You'll need to remove it and program it off the board so use a.28 pin DIP socket.2) You'll need the latest Beta IC-Prog to program this particular PIC. If the current version still doesn't support this PIC, give me a shout and I'll email you the beta version that does.3) Can't think of any item 3...I'll be programming the firmware in the coming days, but I'll need to know from one of you or from Mike (of course) that has built the MVDT decoder he designed, how much power it consume…

I haven't seen this on the forum however, I was surfin around the internet to try get as much info on projectors before I break down and buy one and I came accross this site http://www.audiovisualizers.com/madlab/lcd_proj.htm on how to build a DIY projector. Now some sim builders will get a good laugh out of this, however, some builders on a tight budget just might find it useful? :-)You won't get close to the same quality of a retail projector, but for around $150 - $300, it just might work for a temporary unit till the cash is saved up to purchase a $2000 projector. After that, some of the components from the DIY projector can be use in the cockpit??Maybe someone will …

Hello again....., I haven't been here for the summer, had to take a Flight Sim Building break. But, I'm back at it again.I want to share some pictures of my success in lighting my panel. Thanks to the help of Mike Powell (www.mikesflightdeck.com), he helped design a workable circuit (dimmer) for me to use to light up my panels using LED's. Each picture was taken setting the LED lights at about 50% brightness. Even with though with 34 LED's and the brightness set at 100% the panel is cool to the touch. The LED's are White/Water Clear T1 3/4, 3.6 Volts @ 20mA, the mcd@20mA is 3700.... that's BRIGHT!!

Howdy. Just thought I'd share what we did today at the aviation club - we finally got the yoke and pedals installed on the cockpit and next week it's pot-connecting and soldering time :)The overall look is very nice:http://tigert.gimp.org/vatsim/albums/yoke/aaw.sized.jpgThe pedals under the panel. Note also the yoke support bar that is hinged on the floor in front of the pedals. We didnt do dual controls since we dont really need them. The thing has two seats though so you can take a friend "along" if you want.http://tigert.gimp.org/vatsim/albums/yoke/aax.sized.jpgThis is how it looks behind the panel. The pic is taken straight up from the cockpit floor. You can see the y…
