Continuing my rapid postings, I have a question if any have worked this out.The SPD/Mach window on the MCP requires the decimal to be displayed when in Mach mode and no decimal in SPD mode.As far as I can see in the schematics, FSBUS does not support this by software. We have to hardwire the dot point via a resistor.Has anyone managed to work around this? Perhaps using the output of one of the LEDs (FSLED) to drive the decimal when in Mach mode? (Just a though)Thanks!George DorkofikisAthens, Greece

Hi all, here's a small tutorial on how to print multiple PostScript PCB layouts on a sheet of paper, for example for Press-n-Peel (or similar) application. You will need PhotoShop, but I guess any good paint software (like PaintShop) that can read PS files will do as well. The steps described are for PhotoShop. Use the equivelant commands for the program you will use.First of all, we need to use the maximum possible resolution that our printer supports.1. Open the first PCB Postscript file and select a resolution of at least 300dpi (600dpi preffered).2. Set view to Actual Print Size. Normally the PCB will be either at the top left or the bottom left part of the page.3. S…

Hi, I have now decided firmly that a home cockpit is a must for me! However that decision has also raised a number of questions. So to start slowly, is there any starter kit one can acquire? I am thinking in terms of the necessary items such as interface cards to put in the computer etc. I was originally thinking of making a throttle, but I think it would require quite a well equipped machine shop to do it properly. Therefore I am now thinking about making a radio panel. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.Lev

I'am looking for a web site of a couple of guys who built a 767, I believe, simulator. They use about 7 computers for this. I went there once and they said they have sold about 80 videos of their project. I am looking for their video of flight from somewhere in the US to Toronto. Great info eh. Anyone?JimCYWG

Hi, I know that FsBus officialy does not support at this moment the rotary encoders and many of us are searcing for a good solution to use them with FSbus & Project Magenta, as it's not easy to buy knitter-switches or any other rotary-switch. For sure the rotary encoder has almost the real-good feeling when turning it, like in the real cockpit :-)Before some weeks i had post again the same problem( http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...=4061&mode=full ) and there was an answer with a link ( http://www.wcm.at/vb2/showthread.php?s=&po...9588#post979588 ) with a possible solution of the problem. But i tryed all the combinations with rotary encoder / Redec p…

As I have a small 3-axis CNC milling mashine, I will try to make the FSBUS pcb's that way. I have just redrawn the COM layout in autocad and converted it to g-code. Will try to make the first attempt this weekend I hope.Johan

Hello all, I'll Try again since my last post did not get any replies. May be because I titled it FASBUS instead of FSBUS.AnywayHas anyone built an analog Input card for FSBUS yet?I would like to know if it performs equal to or better than a USB joystick as far as the throttle, eleveator, & Aeilorn inputs are concerned. Thanks for any feedback.Sean W.

Hi all,I'm about to produce the printouts for the FSBUS PCBs but I have encountered a problem that I haven't managed to solve yet. When a Gerber file is loaded into GerbView there are no drill holes shown. There are some (Echellon?) drill files in the FSBUS site, but when I load them into GerbView along with the respective PCB they don't match. Like the drill being the wrong scale.Any ideas ?Thanks!George DorkofikisAthens, Greece

Hi all!Just finished the FSBUS LED board. It works good.My question:Is the power supplied by the FSBUS enough to drive all the leds? (24 per LED board). If i need to connect another led board... Maybe its a good idea to use Mikes LED circuit to minimize the use of power from the fsbus? My idea is to build a board with several "Driver circuit a'la Mike" and connect the LEDs to it. THen led the FSBUS LED drive the Driver circuit? Is this a good idea?/ Olle

I'd like to know if any of you use trackballs. I've been strugeling with my normal mouse and was now planing on changing that to a trackball which would be more handy.Anyone uses a trackball ?? Maybe someone has managed to mod it so that it seems build it into the cockpit ??? Any pictures from that ?? Which type/brand of trackbal ??This because all I can find are quite flashy looking things which would again scream out "HEY LOOK AT ME !!! I'M HERE BUT I SHOULDN'T BE CUZ I'M NOT THERE IN A REAL COCKPIT !!"I think for me there are 2 ways to go.1) I buy the Logit.. Marble Mouse and kinda tie it around my upper leg while flying. Then I have it with me, but still it's no…

Hi,I have a really strange problem...(I have an epic, it expansion module with some analogs, FS2002 & epicinfo and the flightlink KR1 radiostack.)The Y-rotation windows axis is my 'prop pitch'. I even see it moving in the "game controllers" & epicenter. In FS2002, i assign an axis to 'proppelor,' I move the analog, and FS2002 successfully recognizes 'Y-rot' as the name of the axis. Now, when i move the analog, FS2002 does not react to it. Even after checking some calibration & sensitivities. If I reprogram my epic .epl code, to use the Z-rotation, or X-rotation, and do the same 'assign axis' procedure in FS2002, then it DOES WORK !!!I have searched the internet…

I have looked at mikkila.wabbits.org parts list. I went to www.jameco.com to order the parts. I Could not find are didn't know what I was looking for. Like the TR-1 BC548B, T1 7805, and TR2 78l12. Could someone make a parts list of www.jameco.com part number for COM III and Key PCB?

I'm posting this as a new thread in case more are interested.Does anyone know how can I setup GerbView to print multiple boards on the same piece of paper? When I load more than one board of FSBUS, GerbView puts the 2nd/3rd etc boards on the top of the first! Is there any solution to this or any instructions? Thanks!George DorkofikisAthens, Greece

Well...One night i started to think how to make simple and working three step gear handle. Up-Down and Off for Boeing planes. Little work with CAD and i got this.http://mikkila.wabbits.org/t/paneli/gear/gear1.jpgThere is some parts missing. Like all screws and so on. But you can see basic shape and how it works.Next step was to look my storage and i found some material for this small project. I simply used large milling machine and milled little bit plastics and aluminium. And everything is done manually. No CNC-options used.http://mikkila.wabbits.org/t/paneli/gear/gear2.jpgRound know is missing. I believe i get it before weekend. Finally i installed microswitches and atta…

Hello.Quiz time: We must have been thinking about the sim mechanics a lot, so I want some fresh water in my mill:How do you do the centering mechanism of your yoke or pedals?I have a mechanism for the aileron movement, but my problem is the elevator axis. I am currently thinking of the "cessna style" yoke construction where there is a pivoting point on the floor and a vertical column that tilts back and forth - much like a "airliner" yoke, but just behind the panel. Then the yoke "tube" connects to it through a hole in the panel. It will be something like this:http://tigert.gimp.org/vatsim/cockpit-stuff/kessnayoke.jpgBut how would you construct the centering mechanism for…

Hello all,Does anyone have a picture of a Parking brake assembly for a Cessna Prop. Preferably for a 172 or a 182. I am in the process of starting to build a home cockpit (GA), panel and would like to incorporate a parking brake mechanisim. If you don't have a pic but actually have used one and can describe the mechanism, it would help also. Just trying to get an idea of what the setting mechanism is.ThanksSean W.
