I wonder if I could trouble you for your opinions on the best PC projector to use for FS9. My system will probably be a P4 (Intel mb socket 478), 3GHz w/512 cache, 800 MHz FSB, Hyper-threading, a good gig of DDR RAM and an ATI TV in and out video card (9800-XT?). I plan to use my PC as a home entertainment centre for TV, movies and particularly FS9. I am hearing a lot about DLP technology. However, even the most expensive DLP XGA projector seems to be locked at 24 bit (16.7 million) colours and a native 1024 x 768 resolution. I have tried an older "InFocus" LP750 and the colours just won't do it (not to mention 800 x 600 res). Please let me know if I should try out anothe…

Finally i got time to do something as i promised. Not all, but this is start.End of this post there is link. Behing link you can find SolidWorks, Pro/Engineer and Pro/Desktop drawings of my throttles. Also, there is page where every mechanical part is listed with pictures and some description. Later there will be DWG, DFX and PDF drawings of every part. I add them as soon i made those drawings. So monitor that page. And for moderators. Sorry, i open nyt thread for this. Reason is simple. If i add this post to exsisting topic, it will be lost there. And that link: http://www.mikkila.org/fsbus/throttle/- J

Those who also fly in "real life" in addition to simulators, might be delighted to know that Garmin aviation handheld GPS support was added to GPSOut.dll, meaning one can get basic location data input from FS200X to the GPS unit. Here's a pic of how the stuff works. This is a great way to get to know your own GPS if you have one. It was tested in the GPSMap 196 but probably works with IIIPilot and all that have "Aviation In" -protocol support.A pic says more than words, two pics even more :)http://tigert.gimp.org/vatsim/albums/homec...t/aav.sized.jpghttp://tigert.gimp.org/vatsim/albums/homec...t/aat.sized.jpgThe new thing is the "Aviation" protocol support that makes the G…

Is it possible to use an external autopilot panel with these airplanes? I am making one, and I can't find any key commands in FSUIPC w/FS2004 that work. It works fine with all of the default aircraft and I would like to be able to use my external panel for all airplanes. If they use different calls, are there any work-arounds? Thanks.

Hello All,Could anyone explain with an example how to use the network features of FSBUS? (FSBUS CLient, Finder...)? I am not able to make it work.Is this for using a switch (for example) connnected to the FSKEY cause an event on a remote computer connected to the LAN? I hope so.How Do I specify what the switch has to do?How Do I send the event? How do I receive it through the network?I think a detailed example would be self explanatory. Please, Help! And Question #2:Would it be possible to build a A320 Style radio panel using FSBUS? You know, a panel where you choose COM1 COM2, etc, and the display changes, and then you change STBY Frecuency and swap it to active.737NGs have…

Greetings from cold Athens (at last!).As I am progressing through the tests with FSBUS I came across a big problem. At least for me.I will spend a noticeable amount of money to build my hardware based on the FSBUS, but I'm afraid that I will only be able to use it with the stock aircraft of FS!Appart from DreamFleet's B737-400, I have not managed to communicate with any other commercial add-on aircraft. I have PIC767, PSS320, DF734 and PMDG737NG.It seems only the DF734 reads/writes from/to the default FS variables which FSUIPC (and subsequently FSBUS) uses. I haven't managed to even read the main values out of PIC767, PSS320 or PMDG737NG. I talking simple stuff here..…

OH HEY. Since we are talking about the Hitachi HD44780 compatible LCD-displays on the other thread, I just remembered this thingy. I wanted to make a new thread since it'd be buried on the very looooong one and I guess this might be useful for many. So, speaking of the Hitachi character LCD panels, check this out:http://mikkila.wabbits.org/fsbus/lcd/There's a schematic to wire one or two lcd thingys (can be 2x20, 4x16 or 4x20 characters) - this is the "common thingy" that is used for many other things as well - there are endless number of things that can use this hardware - things to display your winamp current playing mp3 song title, your system load and CPU usage etc.. A…

Has anybody successfuly started a Jet form a cold and dark position yet using keyboard commands in FS 2004? I can't get the N1% over 22 and down goes the attempted spoolup. Control E is OK but that is not what I am after. Does anybody else have this problem?Worse, the old J (Jet Starter) appears to be totally non funcitonal..

I'm in the final stages of design of my 737 throttle quadrant. The aim is to produce a detailed reproduction which is fully functional, including full auto-throttles, automated speedbrake and trim wheels. In case you're interested, I've attached some pics of the actual throttle lever with reverser (handles not included!).Hope to start machining in early January (thanks to a friend with a multi-axis mill). This is still expensive, so would be interested to know if anyone wants to 'share' this journey! The overall cost will probably be similar to commercial products, but most of the fun is making it myself! Can't wait till I get to the electrics...CheersJohn

Hi all! I have been reading this forum for a while and desire some confirmation. Do I understand this correctly:1. If I use simkits instruments I use their CCU to control them.2. If I wish to use toggle switches and such, then I can use something like Hagstrom's Keyboard Encoder to integrate with the sim.3. These can be used in conjunction with commercial Joystick/Throttle units via one gameport/USB port?Your help is greatly and gratefully appreciated.Joe

I must put my hands together for Dirk for developing such a great system! For information for is entirely free and very inexpensive to build. Its great for those cockpit builders who don't have a bottomless pocket such like myself. In Australia, kits like EPIC are very expensive due to the Aussie Dollar so FSBUS have given me the chance to realise my dreams to build a working cockpit. I'll be building my cockpit around PMDG's 737 The Next Generation available at www.precisionmanuals.com which I do believe has a bit more work to go on it but I'm willing to wait. My cockpit construction will take along time so I'm not worried about the software.FSBUS does require a bit of el…

Hi All...I am now trying to source rotaries to make the audio features on my panel work...things like Speaker volume, DME 1 and 2, Outer marker etc.Could someone tell me what kind of rotary switch/dial I need to smoothly increase volume from an initial off position...just like car radio but a switch that FSBus would recognize and then FS2004 would recognize to turn the PC volume up ?Many thanks...JB

Howdy I have finaly started building my home cockpit. :-)I figured it was probably best to start my project sorting out the glass cockpit display, multiple computer networking and WideFS, WideView part of things. I downloaded the Project Magenta Demos and was wondering, is there no way of trying it with WideFS without purchasing the WideFS and FSUIPC licences first ?When I purchase Project Magenta does the WideFS and FSUIPC licences come included ?Steve

I have read all the posts about FSBUS and have looked at the website, but I still can't figure out where to start. It seems the documentation files are not available in english and that doesn't help either!! Anyway, can anyone give me a step by step tutorial on where to start and what parts/programs, etc. I will need? I would like to start by making a radio and autopilot panel interface and then then add stuff as I learn more about it. Thanks for any help.

I have the old keyboard interface version of this product. It worked reasonably OK, most of the time, when I was using it (prior to getting some nicer hardware). I'm trying to decide whether to keep it and upgrade it for use on a second computer, or just sell it as-is.The ACP's AT keyboard interface has some issues - keyboard buffer overruns, making my keyboard stop working, etc. Aerosoft offers a $60 kit (plus shipping and whatnot from Germany) that will change the interface from AT keyboard to USB. I would like to know if anyone here has either upgraded their AT version, or has purchased the USB ACP Compact... and if so, how well does it work - is it an improvement ove…
