Hi everybody,Finally I have decided to merge ( for a while and I hope as long as possible) my job with my hobby. I am discussing with a french producing company the possibility of directing a full length documentary shot in HD format about the passion of cockpit building.Financing is not yet achieved but I would like to start making a kind of inventory of all (almost) achieved projects, whatever the simulated plane is. For financial reason I would focus only on North America ( USA-CANADA) and Europe. The film will start telling the history of the film simulation on personnal computer with the early Sublogic FS1 and Commodore 64 computer. A big part of the film will also be…

I posted this in another thread...but not enough visibility. I have found a guy willing to sell 10+ toggle switches with red switch guards (photo below) for $7.99. I only need 5 for my 777. Wanted to know if anyone else wants to go in with me on this and take the remainder (or some of them). I will ship for free if in the US. (from office :) )ALSO...if someone has a source that can get them for less...LET ME KNOW!Thankshttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/58026.jpg

Good evening/morning/afternoon (depends on where you are... :-) )I finished assembling my hardware and while waiting for the FSBUS v2 bugs to be corrected, I though to give the good old FSBUS 1.3 a try. When trying to set an Up/Dn switch, which is actually a rotary encoder through REDEC, it works ok but only on one direction! And it has the problem that V2.0.8 has. It increases by 2! Tried the Divider, no good. The only version that seems to be working ok is 2.0.2b2 with the limitations of 1rotary per row and the hangup after a while.Any ideas? I running out of ideas here. I have my hardware and can'tuse it!... Pleaaaaasssseeeeeeeeee....Thanks!George DorkofikisAthens, Gr…

Guys...I am referring to the controller for lighting LED's, NOT the one for controlling 7-segment displays. Forgive me if I used the wrong controller in the title of this message (!)My question is -- where is there some documentation on how to wire up this board? You know, cathode, anode, max current, etc. I want to populate the lights (LEDS) for my annunciator panel using this board, but can't seem to find and docs on it :(Thanks much...

I remember seeing posted last year on one of the FlightSim news sites a company that was manufacturing replica 737 throttles etc. for use with pc flight simulators. Unfortunately I have lost the URL link to the site. Does any know of this site / company and if so could you let me have the URL link please. Many thanks,Regards,Stuart Hyett

I've read a bit on Fresnel lenses, but I still have some unanswered questions...If I have a 17" monitor, what size Fresnel lense is needed? Is bigger better or are they only effective if roughly the same size as your monitor? Are there different quality of lenses? If so, how are they rated? Any other tips/advice/links on Fresnel lenses for flight sim use would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,Dan

All,As some of you know I am building a KA 350 cockpit. I am looking for suggestions on the best way to implement the GPS. I have played around with the (now freeware) FlightMax and Garmin GPS's... they are not really suitable as they don't have a "full screen" mode. The FlightMax can turn off the frame but it still will not fill the display.Does anyone have any suggestions on how to implement this feature? I have not played around with a second video card with TV output to display the intrinsic FS9 GPS on... has anyone tried this as an option?Any and all suggestions welcome.Happy New Year!

Hello all,I'm curious if there is anyone out there that is experiencing a display problem with the utility called Key2Mouse. This utility seems to be coming up with the some display problems. Come to think of it, the RwyInfo gauge exhibits the same display behavior. Description of the problem (for Key2Mouse): In FS2004, when clicking on the first step in the process of creating a macro for the first time which is "Create a new definition file...", my panel disappears and I get a black screen with just the mouse pointer showing (the mouse pointer is moveable). When I press Alt+Tab to go back to my desktop, the Key2Mouse Dialog box for creating a new definition file shows u…

Hi All,I would prefer to use PIC16F628 in my FSBUS project, for that I have couple reasons :- less expensive.- more powerfull.- pin compatible with 16F84- I have 2 in stock and don't have any 16F84my only problem is that it requires just a slight change in configuration bits... Unfortunately I was not able to find any trace of .hex code for the chips so I can't upload anything right now...Does any body nows where I could find such sources ?Does FSBUS could (or plan to) use other PICs ?I thought about buying a 16F84 uploading then reading back the code using a PIC programmer but if I could avoid buying a chip just for tranfering code...Thanks all...

Hello. I have an old Thrustmaster Gran Prix1 Steering wheel with throttle/brakes and a few other various buttons. (See Attached picture) Being on a budget, I was considering converting it to a yoke setup (for FS2004) since I never use it for driving. Has anyone done this or have any suggestions? Is it worth the effort? Thanks,Dan

Hi everyone. I've been doing some browsing with a mind to maybe making a panel with 'steam' gauges driven by servos controlled by an OOPic / Basic Stamp / BasicX / something similar.I know it's possible - Simkits instruments are servo driven - but I keep coming across servo info that says that they get a 0 - 255 signal as a position indicator. Is this really as closely as you can control them? It would seem to me that that would mean that a compass, say, would be limited to only a little better than 1 1/2 degrees accuracy. Is this what the simkits ones have, or is there a way round that?Richard

Hi All.I would like to start this post for people to post shots of their projectors that they are using for FS9 so that we may all have a look and see what ones are available and what they look like when in use.please post you're shots in here detailing what the make/model is and a rough cost, this will give us all a lot of usefull information and also help the ones like me to decide what to go for in the not too distant futurethanks for you're timeSteve.

If my understand is correct, the width of the box behind the Boeing 737 CDU panel is 5" wide, whereas the top panel itself is 5.75" wide. On each 0.375" side skirt, how deep is it? I only ask due to the 6 buttons on each side of the display, and as such the depth needs to accommodate the switches, if I'm not mistaken. The depth doesn't really matter much to me as I can make the frame to fit the CDU, not the other way round. But nonetheless I'd like to get it as close as possible to the original! Also, even though this is of little importance, how deep is the whole CDU? I'm referring to the earlier CRT type CDU, and not the later LCD type CDU.Many thanks for any help receiv…

Good morning everybody. After a loooong period of research, desgin etc, I started the actual manufacturing process of my FSBUS system. This will consist of a full 737NG MCP, full radio stack, EFIS and maybe later a basic overhead. This post has two problems. One concerning flashing the PICs and the other concerning the software.Until now I had successfully flashed 2Key, 1Led, 6Displays (1board).But I came across to a very strange problem. As you know the display board consists of 6 display PICs with their respective attachements (crystal, capacitors etc).My first display board (and all I mention above) flashed without a problem with the first try.But on the second display …

Hi all! First off, I'm a newbie on all of this, so go easy onme. This may have already been answered, although I have yetto find a specific post on it. I'm wanting to put two19" monitors side by side and have a forward Captain'sand forward First Officer's view, one in each monitor(using FS2004). I know how to get views in different windows and monitors OK,but I'm not sure how to create these views so that they lookas one view out the flight deck when put together(side byside). I'm not worried about panels at this point, as itwill be on a different monitor as well. Any help would beappreciated!

Howdy. A friend needed these for his sim project, so I thought I'd post them here too.http://tigert.gimp.org/vatsim/gallery/c172dimIt's our aviation club's C172 which is for sale currently by the way, so if you want a nice workhorse of a plane, privmsg me and I can tell you more ;)Have fun :)Oh, and those are centimeters for the SI-unit impaired, 1 inch = 2.54 cm. You can click on the mid-size pic once to get a full sized one. The quality is bad, but the text should be readable which is the whole point of the photos./Tuomas

Hey guys/gals (Are there any? Would be nice to know!)I have a rather serious dilemma here, as the other half/missus/wife/girlfriend/bit-on-the-side/what-have-you/etc-etc-etc has decreed that I will not be allowed to build a sim yet as:a) We don't have the cash (I said most of the bits I have already, or are dirt cheap):( We don't have the room (The way I plan on making it, that's not a problem)c) What's the point??? (Oh Lord help me explain this one without sounding like a madman....)Now the problem here is that we're not due to be considering moving house yet as we plan on doing so when:a) We can afford it (Yeah right at today's prices):( We need the space for a family (…
