I everyonefirst of all thank you to the whole forum community, with your invaluable help I'm now on the rigth way to have my very custom mcp panel. FSBUS is a great project but I still can't find some things that are essential for a realistic ifr flying on a fast jet.1)the possibility to configure a switch to act as the clock cronometer start/stop/reset pushbutton2)the possibility to configure a toggle switch to switch the rmi source between vor1 and vor23)the possibility to configure a switch to open/close the radio panel to allow fast frequency changes.add the fix for the x2 rotary bug and that's all I need for my perfect mcp!bye ;)

Hi everyone - I've uploaded Version 2.0 of my "FSPanel" app to the file library. I've fixed a couple of bugs, smoothed out and speeded up the code, and added engine instrumentation. As before, no 3D graphics, so it'll run on anything that can run Win95 or later - I'm using it fine on a P33 laptop. Here's a screenshot...http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/59423.jpgI'd of course be pleased to hear any comments or requests for changes or new features.Richard

Hi all,The time is now and we decided to start with this ambicious project of a complete home build 737 NG cockpit.I have moreless 2 years using Project Magenta software in 4 networked PCand believe me this master piece software really changes the way of virtual flying. Thankyou PM team. Now, I need your expert advice on this, which is the BEST interface to use in this type of projects?, I'm not a programmer, nor an expert in electronics, but I'm sure I can lear with not toO much difficulty.I know there are several interfaces such as EPIC, Interface It, FS Bus, IO cards and Beta Innovations. Discarding the cost of each one which is the most suitable, friendly and powerfull…

Hallo all,I have set up my multimonitor display using ATI Radeon card, where my main monitor (with the outside view) is connected to the main RGB outlet, whereas the secondary monitor displaying undocked panel only is connected via the adaptor thingy. Two questions: what settings should I use to maximize performance in that setup, ie. should I switch to fullscreen mode, then move the panel to the secondary monitor, or should I do it in the windowed mode. Also, should I turn off secondary monitor acceleration (under troubleshooting bar) to improve performance or not.Another question I have is how to use my laptop computer to connect it via a local TCP/IP network to shift so…

To all it may concern doing business with Roel Van Den Broek and the 737 throttle unit, I am writing this as a way to inform you as a consumer of potential problems that I have experienced with this vendor for the last year as it relates to the 737 Throttle Unit that is linked below: http://www.simw.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=d...details&pid=823 I purchased this unit in December of 2002 and received it with great enthusiasm. Upon opening it, I was very much impressed with the quality and the look and realism of the unit. Upon plugging in the unit and following the directions, it did not work right away, which was expected. I followed the directions time and time again…

Hi,yesterday i finally tested in my new PC and Fs2004, my rotary encoders with redec and Fskey to control the aircraft's autopilot. So with success i managed to handle the heading and with no delay in sending keypresses. There was no lag in Fs2004's responce. But, the delay was in 7-segment display. When i was turning the redec too fast for increase/decrease a value (i.e the Heading) the display was changing the numbers (heading values) for some moments after i had stop to turn the encoder. Some times the lag was about 1-2 secs. I have setup in FsBus that the rotary switch will also send the info in FsBusDisplay.Any ideas?Eddie ArmaosAthens-Greece

Hi everyone! Two problems:1)I want to configure a led to lit when "nav" function is active. Which source do I have to choose for this led? "nav1lock" or "coursehold"? then I want another led to lit but only when the vor radial has been captured. Which source do I have to choose for this led?I'm having the same problems with altitude, also there I can't find a source for the 2 leds, one for the alt function and the other for when the altitude has been captured, and same fo approach function and leds.2)How can I add new functions to fsbus? I want to program one pushbutton switch to start the clock timer, and one toggle switch to switch rmi source between vor1 and vor2, and a…

In reading the requirements of FAA approved computer training, one major item is that mouse clicks are not allowed. All functions, after starting the simulator have to be accomplished via physical/mechanical means. How would you suggest making knobs that have an outer ring, an inner ring, and also have the inner ring react to a push. This is the type of control it will take for a garmin 430/530 and many of the new glass cockpit emulation. The single push buttons would be no different then present and not a real challenge. But two rotary encoders and a push button on the same axis present a challenge. My thought is to mount the rotary encoders off center and drive them w…

Some more stuff.. Sorry about the bad image quality, took the pics with my cellphone because the real digicam had a broken memory card.. You should be able to see the idea thouhg :)Some warning labels made from laminated paper (laser prints)http://tigert.gimp.org/vatsim/cockpit-stuf...rningLabels.jpgThe Radio Stack finally finished, just some fsbus issues need to be worked out, but it *works*!!http://tigert.gimp.org/vatsim/cockpit-stuff/RadioStack.jpgGeneral look of the instrument panel. Simkits gauges, FSBUS radios with selfmade panels. Likewise waiting for some simkits software issues getting fixed with the VOR so it can be used better for navigation.http://tigert.gimp.…

http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/59424.jpg I have decided to build a yoke recently and above is a gmax model of what I hope that it will look like eventually. The only problem that I have with building this is the noise from the potentiometers. I built a throttle quadrant a while back and that has incredibly jittery controls. I have taken all the steps to try and reduce the problem: using 100k pots, using shielded wire, grounding the pot cases etc..Anyone have any more steps that I can take with my new yoke to reduce the jittery controls? Anyone else built a yoke? What other tips do you recommend? Thanks in advance,David

Hello everyone,I have been learning about microcontrollers using a BASIC stamp chip and would like to know if it is capable of decoding a rotary? If so, does anyone have a schematic and PBASIC code sample that would work? Thanks in advance!!

I'm building a B727-223adv using real panels. But because I can't find a real cockpit here in the UK, I am going to make the shell from aluminium sheet. I have loads of pics and some dimensions, but what I really really need are cockpit dimensions so that I can start cutting the outer skins. I'm looking for drawings which would go from the rear of the nosecone back to the rear of the Flight deck side windows.A front elevation ,side elevation and plan would be ideal, even if there is only a scale and no measurements at least then I could work something out. It's really all about being able to get the contours correct. The absolutely best solution would be a cad drawing, bu…

Anyone have any panel dimensions for a late model B-58 Baron? .dwg or .dxf would be best but jpg or just measurements would sure help. Also, has anyone built or in the process of building a similar cockpit? If so I'll love to hear you. Any suggestions or tips would be welcome. Thanks for reading and for any help you might provide.Danny

Hello guys,First of all : my setup is working good.I am using Wideview for my outside views. The way it is working good is because I am using a network update rate of 53 instead of 5 or 15 ( IPX ).Since I began with WV in 1999 I had this issue. When using 5 or 15 FS is runnign several seconds on the client pc's and then pausing for several seconds. The higher the update rate , the shorter the pauses. At 53 no pauses anymore.Wideview 2004 will approach the network differently and the update rate cannot be changed anymore. And will be to low for my setup. In the mean time I have other motherboards , other Lan cards. Only the switch is the same .I had the opportunity to try anothe…

Guys,What type of switch do I need to use for auto brakes to hook up to a board - say a Plasma from Beta innovations. I see in FSUIPC(unreg) that there is only commamds to increase or decrease autobrake setting not autobrake 1,2,3 etcAlso for thrust reversers - are they variable. Can you use a pot and have variable reverse thrust or is it either on or off.cheersDave

Whats this ?Let me explain.Where the idea came from is a long story so I won't start :(What it will be is simple:It's a program that will run in background. This way FS doesn't come out of 3D mode. Then all aircraft control related key commands must be removed from FS. My program will be able to capture key commands eventhough in background. The user will then use FS, send key commands to his pc. Unlike normal it won't be FS reacting, but my program. Then when certain conditions are cleared in my porgram, my program will trigger things in FS.To give an example that makes things clear:You'll first have to start up APU, bateries, etc etc before the engines will start …

Hi all,I have been reading and getting ideas for my general cockpit for a long time now and have finally put together what works best for me.I'll post some picture as soon as I get a chance. I use this set up for flight sim and for work. Have to get the best for both worlds.Anyway, here is my question:Is there a way using headphones with mikes to have the pilot and co-pilot hear and talk to each other through those headphones. My set up is 6 monitors, 5 computers. Two monitors for the front view and panel gauges which is connected to my server computer using WidevieW. Then I have a front right and front left, a left and a right monitor, each running off their own computer…

Hi All,Yesterday I posted the same topic, but it did not show up in the forum, so I try again.Just before Christmas I bought the TQ6 Throttle Quadrant and I noticed that is has some issues with the calibration of the levers. I have installed version 3.1 After calibrating and adjusting the potentiometers I have managed to get the levers fully up with a value of appr. 78-79. (See screenshot)http://www.spaanlo.nl/Images/forumimages/G...AllesHoog_1.jpg[br][br]When pulling the levers down, I have differences in the values, even after calibrating. (see screenshot) http://www.spaanlo.nl/Images/forumimages/G...AllesNeer_1.jpg[br]As a result, at least what I think, the first two e…

I just recently purchased a pretty complete GoFlight setup and unfortunately have to sell it now. It is brand new in perfect condition (used only briefly for testing) and it's up on Ebay for sale. Hopefully someone here at Avsim has more time to use such a great setup.http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=3454791331-Dave

Guys, I'm looking for nylon gears that can be used for throttle quadrant such as flap, spoiler, auto trottle mechasim. Epected to find one at that is about two inches or at least long at diameter and about 1.5 inches thick... Ratio? I have no knowledge on ratio but any suggestion from you would be appreicated
