Hi,all these years, in this forum i have found many answers and many good tips and tricks reading all the threads.I know that here is the right place for Home Cockpit Builders to interchange ideas and find many goods for our hobby.But,..... as i can see, many times we ask for help and we are looking for information about things that other people had discuss before and they have found or not a solution before. As we may not reading all the threads everyday, we missed many of them and we re-post the same problems or questions. Also the search is not a good solution everytime. The problem is biggest when we post threads for FsBus freeware s/w, as many people use it and have …

I'm VERY proud to show my 85% complete B1900D throttle. It uses all sorts of goodies, many of them found around the house, at Home Depot and most surprisingly in my wife's scrapbooking supplies :) Ahh, the joys of using a hot glue gun :)8-axis B1900D throttlehttp://pookiedom.com/b1900d/images/100-0006_IMG.JPGThrottle in "full maintenance mode" :-lolhttp://pookiedom.com/b1900d/images/100-0005_IMG.jpgFlap lever detail (without knob)http://pookiedom.com/b1900d/images/100-0001_IMG.JPGYou can see a few more pictures and the plans at http://pookiedom.com/b1900dComments and questions welcomed :)

I'm sorry I can't remember your name as I've deleted the email in wich you sent me your project. I've just finished building it and now I'm having some trouble in testing. I need to know how it should work to be able to test it. My question: are the cw and ccw output normally closed or open?I've connected only one alps rotary and what I get now on the cw output is an open circuit when I don't twist the rotary and a closed circuit when I twist the rotary BOTH cw and ccw (this is no good I suppose)on the ccw output I always get about 100-200 ohm resistence (there is something wrong here for sure)I'm using alps stec16b 24 pulse 24 detents rotaries. Can you help me?Thanks

Hi,I spend quite a lot of time last saturday trying to make the FSBUS COM board to work.I got perfect signals everywhere except on the MCLR pins...I got +0.3V to -13.xxV out of my PC does that sound correct ? (I've read somewhere that on some PCs the out voltage of the com port might not be sufficient to drive the COM port had any of you had the problem ?)My problem is that it doesn't appear to be sufficient to switch the transitor on/off...I tried with another computer (My laptop) didn't worked neither, I had same kind of voltages...Anyone can help ?BP4

Hi Tuomas/Bob...thanks to your great help I have managed to set-up my momentary switches for the A/P functions...most seem to work fine now however, I still can't get a few to work. Here's the problem:1) Switches all set-up with correct SID's RID's etc. Key test confirms they are working2) On the switches that are working you can see the switch setting change to 0 or 1 when pushed in the switch set-up area.3) The switches that don't work do not change the little dot from yellow to green...just stays black4) I check the SID/RID matrix and the setting is changing to 1 or 0Its funny that some are recognized but others not...Any advice help ? any thanks...JB

I was looking through a new Mouser ( www.mouser.com ) catalog and saw a new Xicon Alpha pulse switch which may operate like a Knitter. The switch is small like a Knitter, 10mm x 11.2mm, but has a 1/4"D shaft. The diagram shows pins 1 & 2 close on a clockwise rotation. Pins 3 & 4 close on a counter-clockwise rotation. $4.95 each.Mouser part number is: 105-SR-100030-PS.http://www.mouser.com/catalog/616/864.pdfRichard

So we were working on the sim the whole day today at the club, and got the radios mostly working. Yay!http://tigert.gimp.org/vatsim/cockpit-stuff/mik_mittarit.jpghttp://tigert.gimp.org/vatsim/cockpit-stuff/mik_visuaali.jpghttp://tigert.gimp.org/vatsim/cockpit-stuff/mik_simu.jpgFor those who are not familiar with the project:* Instruments from simkits* Radios and many switches via FSBUS* Visual system is a collimated mirror element. The mirror thing was received as donation from a retired full-motion sim.The whole thing is being built into a C150 fuselage section.Tuomas

Hi All...I'm having a great weekend setting up my FSBUS and with everyone's help I have been slowly solkving the problems. I now have some new ones:1) My NAV/COM radios will only work if the multiplier in my rotary switch set up is set to 1. I try 25 and it locks it at 135.00 frequency setting and my rotary won't chnage anything ?My rotary set up for COM 2 is:Min 118000Max 135000Loop on overun (Unchecked)Multiplier = 1 (Only work when this is 1 ???)Offset = 1CID 4Active XLead Zero (Unchecked)Destination (FS.Stndard.com22) I am using momnetary push button switches for my A/P functions. They are the type if you press you close the switch and it opens when you let go. For so…

hi everyonewith my fsbus boards now functioning I'm on my way to finish my hand-made mcp panel. I've noticed that on some commercial mcp there are rotaries that can perform two different functions, depending on wich autopilot mode is selected (like in real planes). e.g. one rotary can increase mach number if mach mode is on or it can increase ias if ias mode is on. Is there a way to do this with fsbus or do I need one rotary encoder for each FS2002 autopilot function?second question:is there a place where I can find drawings for a generic mcp panel? I mean something I can print and stick on the panel with legend like HDG CRS A/P etc..thank you!

Hi everyone.I've uploaded FSPanel.exe to the File Library. This is the prog I've been talking about that lets you display a "Project Magenta" type external instrument panel on a low spec machine that won't run PM or FreeFD. It's a prototype, so please let me know if you download it how you like it, what bugs you find, and what you'd like to see added. It's run fine for me on a P33 with 16MB of RAM and a 2MB video card.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/58456.jpgRichard

Hi All..many thanks for your help on previous thread. I now have a different problem. I have attached my rotaries for radios etc. They worked fine last week and when I rotated switch the new frequency would appear on LED display. Yesterday I added some toggle switches for my lights, engine starts etc. I also added some momentary switches for A/P.Now for some reason the rotaries do not display the frequencies when I rotate the switch ? Also the momentary switch doesn't activate the A/P features in FS. They all test well in Key test section of router. The new toggle events I programmed work OK.Any ideas or thoughts ?Many thanks...JB

Hi All...I have hooked up all my switches to FSKey in FSBUS and they are all working great. I am building a King Air and some of the switches are for autofeather, battery on/off, prop sync etc. When I try and program these with Router Ver 2.06...I can't seem to find the FS destination. When I look in what is there it seems to bea lot of jet stuff and PM stuff.ANyone have any ideas how I can add the specific turboprop events to the FS destination area in router ?many thanks...JB

hi everyoneI've just finished to build the fscom3, now I want to start with testing, but I've just realized some essential info are missing from the files I've downloaded.Which voltage and amperage do I need for the power supply (DC rigth?)How do I have to connect the board to the rs232 pins?may be I've missed something on their site, I suppose there should be a file or something where this is written but I can't find it!thank you very much

Hello old friends!I've been, um.. somewhat busy over the past year or so... got married, working on a house, you know.. all those family things. One would think that with a new wife, that other hobbies would take a back seat. Well, in between remodeling and such, I have been slowly working and adding to my 777 sim. Here are but a few pics I took tonight, just to show that I'm still in the game! :-)http://12.228.99.170/SimPicsTo date: I have the overhead LCD projector. The forward panels are from FDS. Throttle quadrant from FDS (Purists will note the blue LED backlighting in the flap indicator... hey.. I'm experimenting!)Perhaps the most intricate and daunting assembly is th…

Hello people! Just to let you all know, I am now officially starting my project after many many months of research. As a result I am now chronicling the project as it goes along. To this end I am creating yet another website to add to the growing list :)The sim itself is a Boeing 737NG series, but anyone who is interested can have a look and see how I do things! If you would like me to include a link to your website, please let me know in a reply, or email me at [email protected]. The website doesn't have to be Boeing related, it could be anything. As of yet the website is in preliminary stages, so will not be up for a few more days. When it does go up, I will let yo…

OK... here's one.As my sim developes I am finding myself in a situation where I'm going to have several different apps running to interface the equipment to FS:FSBUS: annunciator lightsKB Studio (emulator): keyboard interfaceSimkits interfaceInterface for stepper motors (engine guages)FSUIPCPFC.DLLWideFSWideviewI plan on upgrading regardless of the hardware platform my machine to (hopefully) a 3.2Ghz, but I'm thinking that this may be enough stuff running to have a significant impact on FS. So... my question is, is it posible to run any of these interfaces on another machine using WideFS? In particular, I am thinking that the KS emulator would be a good candidate as I c…

Hi everyone...Does anyone know of a good sourec to get say 0.5"x0.5" ON/OFF push buttons with LEDS in ? I bout some from Mouser but they turned out to be momentary (my goof). I have checked Mouser brochure and the ones which look good are all discontinued. I need them for my A/P for my king air panel....Regards...JB

I've posted before about my idea (fixation?) on finding a way to use a couple of old P33 laptops I have as instrument panel screens for FS. Using WideView etc is no-go, as those programs put the cient machine into slew or pause, in which most of the instruments don't work. I thought that Project Magenta or FreeFS were the answer, but they are written using OpenGL, so the machine they run on needs to be pretty capable just to run them - a P33 with no 3D acceleration just won't cut it.Oh well, @#$%&* it, I'll just have to make my own app. So I did. Here's a screenshot of my home made client computer instrument panel. Running in 640x480 it fills the screen (this screensh…

If I look for example at the FSBUS project, by doing basic current computations, theoricaly I would burst my PIC as soon as I plug it in... I'm sure I'm getting it wrong cause it is working for many of you but I just want to understand..So in the schematic we have 5 volts 1 led (analysing on 1 segment only) and 1 100ohms resistor.Draw current is fixed by the resistor : U = RI (5 - 0.6) = 100 x I I = 4.2 / 100 = 42mAwell well... PIC I/O are limited to 25mA... what's wrong doc ?Ok I could agree on the PIC driving each segments on its pins but driving as well the Common cathode directly from port A …

Hi all!!I am having a few problems with rotory encoders, I do not know if what I am tring to do should work or if I am making a big mistake, please forgive me I am not an electronics engineer! smile.I have got some Panasonic rotories, 5v in and two outputs, left turn, right turn, these work as they should and they are the type with detents.I would like these to work Via a keyboard encoder to simulate a key press EG. heading change, I have built three different types of decoder boards two that were sent to me kindly by e-mail and one other that I found whilst browsing, each different board I have made uses different cmos chips, but all use the 4066 cmos as the switching ou…

Hi everyonedo you know if rotary encoders sold by Fligth Deck Solutions as "Rotary Encoder (REWP)" and "Rotary Encoder (RENP)" can be used with redec09b and fsbus? Do you know by which firm they are produced so I can find a datasheet?many thanks
