Hi all,I am new in this forum and so I want to introduce myself:I am 54, from Austria near Vienna (LOWW), since 1 year member of the 'Austrian Virtual Airlines'. I am computer service technician. My preferred airplane is the Fokker70 from ProjectFokker 10070.Some weeks ago I started to build a Radio/NAV paneel based on the Hard- und Software from 'Open Cockpits'.First tests were successful and with e.g. Cessna 172 I can switch between NAV1 standby and active. Both frequencies are shown at the displays and change places when pressing flip switch. But not so at the F70: only the active NAV frequency changes in the upper display when I press the flip switch. The standby freqe…

Hi,Has anyone used this for Elevator Trim indication or Flap position. One observation is that when you assign a FS function to a Servoyou cant delete it like you could say with a Analogue input. Not really an issue. The second which is more important is that if i try and set it up for Elevator trim indication it seems to work ok when you move the test slider. However when you are if Fs9 the indicator sems erratic and doesnt seem to track the graphic indicator in Fs very well.I have tried to do the Flap indication, but this doesnt respond at all in fs.using the test sliders, the servo operates. The servo i am using is an unmarked brand bought from a local electronics shop and tr…

The LCD flat panel display is mounted. The yoke is mounted. The inner skin (around the feet) is mounted.http://pookiedom.com/b1900d/images/cockpit...00-0032_IMG.JPGhttp://pookiedom.com/b1900d/images/cockpit...00-0034_IMG.JPGI've got plenty of room for wiring switches on the back of the panel. The shelf serves as a base for the LCD projector.

Hello guysI was checking some PCB prices here and for me, they seem pretty expensive... So I was think about ordering just 1 or 2 of them, the one or two most difficult cards to assembly. However, I've heard somewhere that the FSBUS creator is due to release an update which will include a Stepper motor controller. But what defines the CIDs?? Is those "sockets" to the right of the MAX232, in which the first is CID1, the 2nd is CID2, the 3rd is CID3 and the 4th, CID4? If so, how should I connect every card avaiable, which are 6, and soon will be 7, with the stepper motor controller? Is Dirk going to release a new schematic of the electronics and PCB? If so, I should wait for …

All,Thought you might like to see the engine stack for my KA sim. Stepper motors running on 12VDC and USB interface. These were built for me by Marco Leerentveld at www.flightillusion.com. Just a fantastic job by him on these. Price is comparalbe to Simkits, only custom (check out the LED readouts for PROP TORQUE and TURBINE RPM)...http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/66665.jpg

I've thought of this for a while and asked myself.. "Why Not!" and couldn't come up with an answer:) Here it is:I set up a Chat room with Video capability at PALTALK, In the group: Sports and HobbiesAnd the room name is: Flight Sim - Home Flightdeck BuildersI've set up a live camera of my FlightDeck (can't use the other name...Co..pit, cause computers find it offensive), and invite anyone else to do the same. Anyone can watch our progress of our projects, maybe even watch us fly our sim. The opportunity is there. Please keep in mind, at least my project, is not a 24 hour a day operation. So Don't expect a lot of action. It's free, the only thing is, the video is a s…

HelloKnows someone how can I combine 2 potentiometers 100K together for the same reason in a different position?I want to place one potentiometer in my Steering Tiller and the second potentiometer in my rudder pedals. Both and the Tiller and the Rudder make the same job when the aircraft is in the ground. So the two potentiometers go to the same input in the FlightSim.But I don

Hello guysI've been reading here lately concerned on what interface should I use to connect with the FS. Firstly, FSBUS came up. That seems to be the most interesting idea, as it is not that difficult to build up, instead of IOCards, that seems to be very complex in terms of assembling one. But what I'm concerned here is about how FSBUS connects to the FS. I know it is though FSUIPC, but is there any way I can use it to control third party software, like PMDG737? I don't wanna build a home sim, just a few parts so I can stop flying with the keyboard, a little. Is FSBUS capable of sending keyboard and mouse commands?I think that, since there is a software that interfaces t…

I'm attempting to iron out a bug without much success.I'm using a Gamma Ray USB, Keyboard emulator, FS9, and Project Magenta all on one PC while testing a protype EFIS / MCP. At this stage all I have are toggle, pushbutton and rotary switches.I have assigned a bunch of keys to the buttons and swtiches of my EFIS and MCP using Keyboard Studio.Within FPUIPC Keys, I have mapped these keys to Project Magenta functions using a mixture of both 'cataloged' PM functions, and the "PM GC Controls (by param)" option using FPUIPC offsets as the parameter. Just about everything is working beautifully - although I have to ensure the FS9 screen is active for the key assignments to work …

Hello guysMaybe this has been asked a lot around here, butHow does exactly FSBus works, compared to EPIC?? I know that in the EPIC system you have to write your own program to make all of those switches work... How is that on FSBUS?? How is it expansibility? Can I use really lots and lots of switches by putting lots os module cards together, just like EPIC??Thanks a lotPaulo

http://www.opencockpits.com/uploads/images/usb-logo.jpg New USB IOCard is already available. After several months of development, the first of the 2nd generation IOCards is available. It is an USB card, that directly connects to the USB port (no specific drivers are needed). Up to 4 master cards can be connected to this new USB card.In addition to the improvement of speed, this card unloads the PC processor of doing lots of calculations and adds 4 A/D converters that, without consuming neither inputs or outputs, let us to connect 4 analog axles like thorttles, yokes... And all these with no need of different software for parallel or USB connections. This new card can be als…

Hello everybody,I am thinking about a motion simulator.Do tou think it is possible to build a cockpit as this one (http://www.acesim.com/main.html) with step by step motors on each axes (pitch and roll) ?The advantage of this construction is that you don't need a lot of power to move it, because of the center of gravity.Am i dreaming or not ???

Hi everyone. Im trying to get a RC servo to operate from MSFS. I've wired up a circuit to drive it, but all it actually did was fry the first two PICs I put into it :-(Here's the circuit schematic, and the actual breadboarded circuit. Can one of you kind and brilliant electronic experts tell me what's wrong?http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/63834.gifhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/63835.jpgThanks for the help,Richard

Well, there are so many questions asked about video cards on this and many other forums. Several days ago, had this article from some magazine e-mailed to me by a friend and decided to share it on this forum. (Author, Magazine/publication unknown. If any one has read this before & know the source, please post it here so they get the credits they deserve)Here it is..........................SE Videocards: What are you really getting? BackroundFor years, the expression "Special Edition" (SE) was basically an automotive term. It meant the vehicle was above and beyond the standard offering. It might have a larger engine, sport suspension or a tweaked out interior. Wha…

Hi allOn Ebay there is an advertisement for a 6X Fresnel lens and plans to build a projected 100" display for AUS$15. Another supplier estimates the cost of building to be another US$20. See example athttp://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dllVie...23&category=174I checked previous forum entries re fresnel lens but couldn't see anything related to this sort of claim. My question is, has anybody tried this or a similar product? Some of the pictures look really good but it can't be true...or can it???Any help appreciatedIan

Hi all,I thought I'd share some pictures of the progress I've made with my B1900D home cockpit.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/65655.jpgThat big hole in the panel is where my 17" flat screen LCD will be, showing all the primary flight instruments, as well as engine gauges. (That's my old panel on the floor behind the new cockpit)http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/65657.jpgThis is the front view of the cockpit. You can see where I'm sticking my CPU Tower.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/65656.jpgWhen finished, there'll be an entire enclosure with skin. The outside view will projected onto a screen using an LCD projector. Here's the plan:http://forums.avsim.net/user…
