My name is Peter Luff, callsign CGMTT, local airport Ottawa CYOW, a qualified instrument rated PPL in real world, trying out VATSIM as a relative newbie however. My problem is that I cannot get voice comms to work in my setup. This is FSX, windows7/64bit, FSINN/VATSIM client,using VROUTE to see network activity, Microsoft USB headset. Everything works very nicely i.e I can see all the other VATSIM traffic at any airport, I show up on the network after turning on VATSIM in the FSINN control box, I can text chat to and from any controllers who are online, my PTT button turns on a red transmit bar on the FSINN VVL comms bar as does someone trying to voice back to me, but no …

So i flied a lot of time unidentified airports or places around the world. perhaps the controller the controller may send me unicom at that place but he didn t . Does Vatsim make any effort to keep hubs manned? I know they place a lot of controls on training. Just wondering if they also put controls on providing a level of service at particular airports. Gregg

Good morning everyone, A few days ago I found out that I couldn't get access to the FSARF page, the program I'd previously used to add my AI models to FSInn. So me being the creative chap that I am, I decided to write my own alternative, and I banned myself from FSX until I was finished. Hi everyone, I am new to VATSIM, and I just downloaded squawkbox4. I am able to connect to servers and squawkbox4 says that I am connected and I can hear communication properly and I can also speak. However, I am unable to see any VATSIM traffic, and I can only see AI traffic. I know for sure that there are planes and controllers at the airport that I am at as I heard ground communication for that airport(KMEM). What am I doing wrong? I can't seem to find a proper answer anywhere? My procedure for connecting: 1.Start FSX 2. Select planes and yadayadaya 3. Ok, so I need a little help here. I got this TEC route from laartc.org... MZB293R V27 SXC V208 VTU VTU282R KWANG Doesn't seem too bad, right? I plugged it in at www.simroutes.com to get a visual look and a Nav Log.... So, I take a stab at flying it (the skies are empty and I'm not on going on VATSIM until I've tried this out. As my competence improves I am considering taking the next step and trying out Vatsim. Does Vatsim cater for "slow and low" sightseeing GA pilots like me in my little C172? I'm also training for my PPL in the real world and my real reason for wanting to join Vatsim is to practice my ATC comms and approaches to airfields under VFR.

Hello folks im just wondering what happened , i was on a long flight from eddm to kdtw and about about 500 hundred miles out and i never walked away from the screen . There were no controllers or no one around for miles , i go to the bath room and im not on the screen when i get back. i did not put it on pause or nothing , i see no log of no control tower or noone contacting me. Now i have lost 6.8 hours of online flying. i refilled while in route and it took but now all i have is the time that i got back on line. what a bummer , is this normal.Thanks...Robert

Hi, I want to make flight plan from LEPA (Palma de Mallorca) to LIMF (Torino Caselle). I studied enroute charts and enroute AIP and I created following plan: MEROS UN853 LUMAS UT16 ADITA UN870 MAXIR UN853 BLONA UY11 KUMIN or ewentually: MEROS UN853 BLONA UY11 KUMIN I entered both plans into vRoute -> Add new route (add FL range from 290 to 360), but they didn't wear off validation. I am still learning FSX, but eventually I'll want to try flying in VATSIM. I've read a fair chunk of the Pilot Resource Center, and I understand there are organizations to help ease in newbs. Still, I'm confused about some things. Some specific questions: 1. I'm using REX with FSX, and I'm curious -- would I disable REX if I wanted to try VATSIM? Or would REX correctly use the weather indicated by VATSIM's servers? Do I need to do anything special in FSX to order it to use VATSIM weather? 2. Can I run ORBX and other scenery add-ons while in VATSIM? 3. It looks like I need SquawkBox and something like VatSpy. Are there any other addons required? I don'…

I find Vatsim to be extremely valuable to my overall flight immersion levels - 'realtime atc' is lightyears better than 'canned' controllers, yeah? My only suggestion would be that the Vatsim controllers to us a favor and post their intended operating hours in their local ATIS recordings... example: .metar KATL (type into Vatsim window) RESULT:(blah blah usual metar stuff - then add the following...) I just started using VATSIM for the first time about a week now and I am constantly dealing with frame rate issues. My fps will stick around 15-20 while in the air and on land it drops to about 1-3 fps. In other words it's just not worth using with these framerates. I have my FPS rate set to unlimited inside FSX and I'm using the fps_limiter_2 and have my fps set to 40. I live in San Antonio, Texas and I have tried both server usa west and usa east with no luck. I am using Squawkbox to connect to VATSIM. hello folks im just wondering a couple of things when flying , in the area that live (indy ) there is not a whole lot of controllers in the area , or in other parts of the united states.when i start a flight there may be a controller and there may not be , so i decided to keep radar contact loaded as a precaution if there is no controller in the area.it worked out pretty good as long as you stay on top of all the info coming in, as i said im new to vatsim and i like it a lot , and it is fast becoming addictive.So i have a question what do you do if you are close to your destination and your controller for whatever reason leaves what do you do.Do you just fly and hope ther…
