I have never used vatsim and I am curious about the learning curve. I am new to fsx and fly the 737ngx and am reaching a point where I am comfortable flying. I have been using vox atc doing ifr flights. What degree of proficiency is expected of pilots using vatsim? Since I have never used it I am concerned I would be lost and would not know what to do once I connected. I am actually currently studying for the first level of the controller exams to help myself learn the basics and become more comfortable.

Hello - I am a new member to Vatsim and I have a couple of questions. 1. I am using Squakbox. Every time I open Squakbox my graphics quality is ruined. I go from having perfectly straight crisp lines and textures before I open it, and then once I start Squakbox all of the lines and textures become awful and jagged. Almost as if there is no anti aliasing. Is there a fix for this? 2. What is the best way to build IFR flight plans? Is there a good app for this? Thank you in advance. I look forward to finally flying with some live ATC!

I am trying to assure that all aircraft are assigned their corresponding model and livery in VATSIM as per the post "How I fixed FSInn's model matching", on the VATSIM forum. However, one of the steps involves using the FSARF, but the download link seems to be dead. Any idea pf where I could download such tool?? Thank you very much, Eduardo Rubini

Hi guys when I want ATIS information do I just tune into the freq displayed on the chart I have Once logged onto VATSIM? Does VATSIM use real world current weather? I have an app called aero weather which gives me the current winds, HPA, Temp etc for all airports including runways in use. There is no point in me using it if VATSIM doesn't just asking thanks Wayne.

Hi everyone. I've been thinking a lot about what to do about this situation that I have been confronted with in the Vatsim community, and after a lot of consideration I decided to speak out on it. I think that there are some serious issues that need to be addressed within the structure of Vatsim. I guess the best way to do this is to give you my own personal story; about two and a half years ago, I joined Vatsim. Gentlemen, is it normal to file your FP with SID and/or STAR when flying in Germany? I know the US way of doing this and lately I have seen this done on domestic German flights too? What is the correct procedure for German airspace, anyone? Appreciate it, cheers,

Hey folks, - despite following apollos web(larry) instructions to a tee, and tried other methods according to youtube. I still get two runtime errors, 1X400 and 1X372, and I also get an mscomctl.ocx fscopilot error. any help would be greatly appreciated. And for those that may get a scenery 115 not found error - (in my case) in addon scenery just make a new folder named "scenery" and that fixes it Thanks. Win7, uac disabled, tried running fsinnui as admin, tried running normally, tried running fsx as admin, and tried without. SOLVED

Hi I would like to know why the ICAO code BOX is not recognized in VATSIM. I made a Flight see below, but its' an unknown code. http://vataware.com/flight.cfm?id=12036253 Have I to use the IATA code instead, which is 3S. I also flew in ICAO GEC code which is Lufthansa Cargo and it works. Where I can check recognized code used in Vatsim? Thank you Fabrizio

As the title suggests, - just connected using SB4 and my screen is tearing quite badly, maybe the smoothness isn't quite as it was either. With SB not running, the sim is normally very smooth and tear free. Anyone got any ideas? is it common? Thanks

hey guys, So Today when i was flying from Brisbane To Sydney, I noticed something very strange. There was two other pilots online with me, The two guys had Virgin Australia callsigns ( Velocity ) and aircraft callsigns ( VH-YFC, VH-VUV ) and parked at Brisbanes Virgin Australia Bays but both of them Had Qantas Liveries?? Is there away where i can set Virgin Planes to virgin Liveries?? Jason Norment

I was on the VATSIM site and tried to register but was not allowed due to my e-mail address.I read the terms on the site and as I understand they will not allow "freebie" e-mail addresses.Mine is not a freebie it is under contract with Comcast/Optimum online which is my ISP.Can some please help me so I can try to use VATSIM and SB.ThanksAndy

Hello. If I'm reaching the TOD and I'm in controlled airspace. Should i just decend with the fmc. Call the controller to inform them I want to decend, or will the controller call me a little before TOD and give me authority to decend at my discretion. Thanks Steve

I have been using Squawk box for some time now and never had any trouble before.., and then this new problem has just come up . The problem is that I am sending the flight PLan from SB and it is showing in the SB window that "FLIGHT PLAN SENT" However for some reason when i get in touch with the ATC,they are not recieving it. I am running SB from within FSX through the addons menu THings i have tried: 1.Disconnecting and then reconnecting to the server 2.Uninstalling and reinstalling SB The problem is still persisting... It all started after I uninstalled FSINN, I had them both (SB and FSINN) and they were working just fine. I would get some errors on fsinn becau…

Berlin-Tegel und Berlin-Schönefeld öffnen endlich mal wieder gleichzeitig die Pforten. Die im Moment wohl umstrittensten Airports in Deutschland laden auch im Jahr 2013 zu dem Mega-Event in Berlin. Tegel(EDDT) konnte in den letzten Wochen, auch beim Cross the Pond, beweisen, dass er trotz seiner geringen Größe für eine große Anzahl an Flugbewegungen geeignet ist. If you're flying from point A to B, and you're now in airspace where there are no active frequencies on Vatsim, does it cause any conflicts if you start up VoxATC so simulate ATC while you're flying in a "dead zone?"Thanks in advance.Slugger

I am abvout to study the course to become a Vatsim controller. How does it work ( 0nce I passed my exams ) to b a controller at a specific airport ? Does Vatsim assign an airport for me or can I choose from where to control ? And how is this done ? Thanks for your info HubertWerni

I was watching a number of videos using VATSIM and it got me thinking, with many airports having multiple versions, ranging from default, freeware AFCADs, to detailed payware, how does VATSIM manage them? Gates may not be in the same position , or even exist in different versions of the same airport.

I have bee using Squawk box extensively on vatsim, and till date never had any issue...But lately what has been happening is that I am recieving all the transmissions from all stations in a garbled manner.. But the funny thing is that when I keep my mouse pointer on the squawk box window and keep it clicked, I can hear all the transmissions clearly but as soon as I release the mouse click , again the garbled transmission.... : ( I have tried installing and uninstalling, I have also tried FsIn which is encountering the same problem..dont know why...Its like if I have to transmit I need to pause the sim everytym, I am using a corsair vengance gaming usb headphon…

Hi , there I was wondering if there's any add-on or a simple Volume knob gauge, where I could tune up volume on VHF 1, like in real plane. It' would be really cool, if I could lover atc voice sometimes, or high it up. Tnk's
