I have been practicing some single engine landings like a lot of people are doing now :) and im having a big rudder prob. when the engine shutsdown i start to apply rudder to compensate and will use like 40% rudder or so and all a sudden the rudder goes to the full position it happens if i give left or right rudder. whats the prob here? yaw damper and auto cord off, rudder effectness 4 and fsuipc 2.87.http://events8.tripod.com/pilot_tag.JPG

Hi all,Well after a long discussion last night with Mike Bevington about how not a week goes by without learning something new about our beloved PIC, I decided to finally work on some of my emergency procedures. As a reference I was using Mike Ray

Is it possible to put the 767PIC FMC on a second monitor or a second PC? I looked at WodeFS but got the impression it would not fit the task. By the same token, is it possible to put the overhead panels on seperate monitor or PC?Thanks in advance.

What is the proper way to start the engines in the PIC767? I alwa ys get frustrated switching the indictators to "GND" on overhead panel and them struggling to start! They usually never do. I have to end up using Control + E.Thanks in advance, Drew Andersonhttp://www.dr3w.net/flightsim/

Hey Francois.I was just wondering what you think so far of PSS' Airbus, and how does it compare to PIC's product. Thanks in advance.

I realized yesterday I would not be able to make the group VATSIM flights in Portugal, so I decided to do LPPT-LPMA last night. Well, who should join me midflight but Mike Bevington (AAL327) and Ian Elchitz (ACA301) to form a mini PIC flight!I snapped some screen shots, and Mike caught a few. I was first in so was able to watch the other guys coming in. Nice looking landings all around on runway 05. However, we were subjected to virtually no wind.AAL327 on base:http://www.sls.lcs.mit.edu/ilh/fs/767pic/lpma/base-327.jpgAAL327 on short final:http://www.sls.lcs.mit.edu/ilh/fs/767pic/lpma/final-327.jpgAAL327 making the turnoff (you won't make this turnoff if you land at a…

Can somebody explain in a little detail how to do a manual flare and rollout during a manual landing. I cant find any referance in PIC manuals about doing manual landings with Flare and Rollout. Im not even sure what they mean. The way I normally do a manual landing is approach following the Cross when I get to 200 feel I start pulling back on the nose slightly at 25 feet I go competely Idle on throttle. Landing at about 5 degrees its usually pretty smooth. But I still dont understand the flare and rollout terms so if anyone could fill in on these I would appreciate it.

Hi,Check out the subject at Hangar Chat.I posted a "version" of my "procedures" in the situation, where the pilots would be incapacitated. Comments ? I'd like to hear comments, and the things _you_ would do in the abovementioned situation.http://ftp.avsim.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboa...ewmode=threadedcheers,Tero

Hi, I have some questions:1 - at night just when I switch on the landing lights I have logo lights available; is there a way to have them in the beginning let's say much earlier than landing lights, in the beginning of our preparation?2 - taxi on idle is that possible to do? I must run the engines til almost 60 % to get a possibility to taxi yo the runway3 - how much fuel burns 767 per hour of flight more or less? in kilos and pounds? how much fuel for reserves, taxi and APU run?4 - how do we calculate or set the trim for take-off and landing?5 - how to get the panel iluminated during night operations? Thanks for the answerharpsi

Could someone please tell me, or point me in the way of a chart, to help me set the elevator trim correctly for takeoff? I'm not sure of the exact settings to use, and I know real airline pilots have charts available to use. Thanks in advance.-twilky

Hi,All checklists I've seen for commercial aircraft require ground power to be connected and switched ON before starting engines. I thought that ground power is only required if the APU has malfunctioned, or is otherwise inoperative? In the normal case, isn't it possible to start up using the battery to start the APU, and the APU to start the engines, without the application of ground power?By the way, does ground power provide both an electrical source and an air source? Thanks,Frank

Thanks for the great turnout. An almost too great of turnout for our controller friends in Portugal as things got a little crazy getting out of Lisbon. And for those who got hung on the holds on the way into Madeira, all I can say is sorry. I watched one crash into the mountain side and 2 missed approaches out of the 7 landings I watched at LPMA. At one count I had 18 (eighteen) aircraft in route from Lisbon to Madeira. Another few were filing for the trip when I departed Madeira. With Lisbon and Madeira fully staffed, quite a few pieces of plastic (a.k.a. Airbuses) joined in our parade.End the end with Santa Maria Oceanic and Ponta Delgada Approach, only me and Dea…

Hi guys, I sometimes experience problems turning off the APU during departure. It seems that the APU will always turn back on after I turn it off!Any help appreciated.thanks!:)http://www.mydestiny.net/~michael8/genavbanner.gif

I understand the principle that the 'brake source' caption illuminates when pressure in the right hydraulic system is low. I've noted (only recently) that it illuminates during descent. I presume that this is because HYD pressure is low with the engine at idle. Is that correct? It doesn't sound right as clearly there are other systems requiring HYD pressure in flight which would also suffer. The caption only lights during descent and is gone by the time the approach starts and it's not actually a failure. Failures are enabled, though. Is the brake system powered by the engine pumps only and the other stuff from the electric HYD pumps. Can anyone point me to a schematic? On…

just a question for real 767 pilots or pilots in general. when hand flying an approach to landing do u trim the aircraft so as to keep it in a slight (say 2 degree) nose high attitude and then only apply back pressure on the yoke during the flare?? also when doing an autoland in pic767 i notice that it will not flare the aircraft on landing- why is this??

Hi,Question here.Lemme just emphasize i'm not asking about the actual climb performance of the 767...but the VNAV climb behaviour.Lets say there are 3 waypoints 2000ft 5000ft 7000ftAfter hitting waypoint 1 at 2000 feet the PIC will immediately and as fast as she can climb to 5000ft...then level out till waypoint 2..and then do the same thing and go for 7000ft.Isn't there, or shouldn't there, be a way to limit the climbrates?Aksing because sometimes in for example SIDs there are limits on climb rates like climb at 300' per NM to point xx then 350' per NM to point xx.The only way this is possible right now is to not engage VNAV and do it by hand.

Repost off usenet as i didnt get any joy off there. Sorry if youve seen it before.---Can anyone help me by explaining how to program a SID (or STAR etc)procedure into the FMC on 767 PIC ?Ive gone through the tutorial and know how to enter it into LEGS, save itand so on but the cant work out the actual procedure and waypoints neededfor this particular one.Its a simple(ish) procedure so i'll list it here.As an example im trying to enter the Gatwick SAM2M departure.Basically its take off from runway 26L (heading 262deg) direct to the GY NDBOn passing the NDB, maintain heading 262 until intercepting the MID radial067Proceed inbound to MID.From MID route to SAMThere are heigh…

Great job by Portugal today for the PIC fly-in.Must say I came close to augering into the hill at threshhold to 05 at LPMA.Thankfully, I pulled out of it - and there was noone there to witness the hilarity (thank goodness) - and made a successful (though high, hot and heavy) landing on the second try. Thanks to MB327, for restarting the Sunday event. Great, Mike. And Rob (856) - how was your landing Mr. Smarty-pants?
