Hi, I was wondering if would it be possible to have more fluid altitudes assigments in RC5? Now usuall we get - altitude x, then altitude y etx. I know that traffic is passed to other types of controls and durring climb usuall it is getting smooth, but... for landing it is always FL11 or FL12 and then contact approach. The case is that perhaps we could get clearance from higher already to lower and contact approach when decending thru without levelling on it.

Hey, guys,I've got a quick question regarding approaching an airport. There are really two methods I generally use, one is to simply default to the vectors and have controllers tell me where to go. This is always predictable, using simple downwind to base to final, without many deviations. In aircraft that have an advanced enough FMS, I'll use the computer to insert waypoints retrieved from the database of published approaches and let the autopilot vector me in, and request a full ILS approach instead of the vectors. What do real pilots do? Are vectors generally only used at airports that don't have published approach plates or in cases where weather or other obstacles may…

Hi,I am using RCv4.3 with UT2 and I am a bit confused about ATC. I have FSX ATC turned off in settings but I seem to have two ATC voices running simultaneously, one clearly is RC but the other sounds more like FSX.So my question is, will RC ATC interact with all AI planes created by UT2 at the airport I am located, ie. If I tune to tower frequency or approach or ground, I will hear RC ATC talking to UT2 AI planes. I can hear interaction but it doesn't sound like RC ATC and I wondered whether it is, in fact, FSX ATC.Many thanksBill

Jd,I have read and followed the instructions and still cannot get the program (Rcv4) to load, see the attached. I am running Windows 7 64 bit FS9, any help would be appreciated. Thank you This error message usually means you are missing a particular system file that RC needs to runs. To fix it do the following:The problem is that file system file name is not registered with Windows Open a DOS box (Start|All Programs\Accessories\Command Prompt) (for windows 7 and vista users, click start, type cmd into the search box, and press ctrl-shift-enter, this launches it as admin)for 32 bit users:At the prompt type the following:Cd \windows\system32 (press the enter key)The prompt…

  6. I'm curious as to for what platforms RC5 is being build as we speak. Reason for my question is this: I still run FSX on WIN XP (x64). This because FS9 and FSX were designed for XP/Vista (Vista released late 2006, early 2007) and not for WIN7 (released 2009). Some simmers run their FS under XP, others under WIN7 or Vista.Now...Vista isn't really an option I guess when looking to it's development and short-lived lifespan (3 years). WIN7 might be an option, however... the overhead on ones system is larger with WIN7 than with XP (all goodies I really don't need for my FS OS).Now I'm one of those guys who'd like to get a speech engine build into RC5. However...when looking for…

I'm trying to add some points to my flight plan from a STAR I will be flying, I need to do this because I use Radar Contact 4 and my STAR points need to be in the flight plan to avoid the controllers going crazy at me.I cannot find the STAR points in the FSX flight planner?!I use Vroute to generate the plan but it doesn't include STARS.Thanks for any helpRich

The Contact Ground / Departure text is there but the distances are not. Any sugestion on how to fix this problem??

I'm becoming interested in purchasing RC 4.3. One question. When your flight plan includes an ILS approach, will RC always vector you (hand-holding) to the approach, or are there other real-world options in the program? For example, instead of vectoring, can you be cleared to a specific fix, such as the outer marker, or to an IAF (Initial Approach Fix)? Thanks much for info. Bob

  14. Isn't RC4 supposed to react to a go-around command from ATC even when the FO is handling the comms? I got a go-around, but since the airport was hidding in losts of clouds and mist, I really didn't understood that it was my callsign :( After shutting down RC I got a severe reprimande about ignoring a go-around. My FO...well...he didn't say anything.

JD, I'm longtime user of your fine program and have built a new PC. I have successfully installedFSX in the Win 7 64 environment and would like to begin using latest version of RCV4 (4.3 ?). RCV4 is installed and properly working on my older Win XP PC with both FS9 and FSX (RCV4.3.3843). With the above considered, what steps would you recommend I take for getting the proper version of RCV4 running with FSX on my new system. If I need to buy something that's perfectly fine.BTW, I have the latest (registered) version of FSUIPC installed on the new PC and have downloaded MakeRwys v4.41 Thank you and best regards,Ken Boardman

  16. Hi,I'm really interested in trying Radar Contact for more immersive and realistic ATC.Does it only run in windowed mode or can I run it in full screen mode too?Has the programme been updated so that I can set the transparency of the pop-up ATC window in FSX?Thanks,Toby

Hi,I have used RC4 for a couple of years now and I really like it. I have recently implemented Multi Crew Experience which amongst other things allows me to "talk" to ATC/RC4 and it works really well. However, 2 things are now standing out as issues with RC4:1) When being passed onto other controllers along my flight plan, RC4 does not allow sufficient time to tune my radio and then speak to my controller before the other controller is harassing me to make contact. Unfortunately with voice recognition you do have to speak rather slowly and clearly and I guess the timeout is designed for a key press and not actually speaking. Can the timeout be increased for this as its rea…

Hi guys,I was just wondering, now that JD and others are working on RC5, if there's a way to include a STEP profiel in RC. Most planes will use a higher CRZ due to the fact that burning fuel during the flight will enable the PF to select a higher altitude thus getting a more optimum burn rate. When looking at FSBuild, one can enable a CLIMB (or STEP) profile. Maybe RC5 can provide such an option too?

  20. I and others are finding that the time to respond to a handoff to departure or another control centre is too short if one is using a speech engine for ATC. What happens is that you receive the new frequency and respond with an acknowledgement. After dialing in the new frequency but before you can contact the new controller the previous controller comes on telling you to contact the next controller. Odd that it does so even though you are no longer on the previous controller's frequency. You are then rquired to acknowledge the handoff and the cycle can go on and on until you use the keyboard to break out. I realize that this behaviour probably cannot be fixed in the curren…

  21. Hi Everyone:What am I doing wrong? I am flying from PHL to JFK and using the CARMN 4 arrival. I have it pre-programed in the FMC before I even leave the ground. I used V Route to plan my flight. The problem is that I can't get RC to recognize that I want to fly the STAR and it keeps telling me I am off course (then it gives me a heading to fly and tells me to resume flight when suitable for navigation). How doe RC recognize that I want to fly a STAR without thinking that I am trying to ignore the contorller. It does not seem to recognize the waypoints on the STAR. Since the STAR may change from flight to flight, I would rather not include it as part of my actual fl…

Is there a step by step guide on how to configure RC on a client running (winXP) and FSX on another running (win7)? I finally got my REX running fine on client but I cant get RC to accept the .FLT/.WX Path=. I have both copies of FSUIPC and WideFS. WideFS is currently on client and and widefs server and .ini are in FSX modules. Fsuipc is set up as usual. When I browse toi the network path where my flightsim pln files are, nothing happens after selecting...Any help would be great...ThanksTroy

Obliged to make a temporary FS install in a temporary location to look for problems elsewhere, it wasnt until I tried to run the RC DB that I realized my mistake: FS is installed in the Prgram Files folder I created for the task - but there is no "Flight Simulator 9" folder: thus Program Files is the FS9 root folder.I cant get my networked RC to find FS - because RC is looking for the Flight Simulator 9 folder, right? Ive tried entering Flight Simulator 9 and FS9 with no successIs there a way around this?ThanksNicholas

I have a USB headset I use with the PMDG J41 and FS2Crew Voice. With default ATC I can get ATC to play through the headset like the J41 FO using the FS sound menu. I would like to do the same with RC. I searched this forum but only found a suggestion using two computers. Is there a way I can do it with one computer or will RC5 allow it?Thank you.Dan
