When setting up my flight parameters in RC4, there is an option in the Controller Info section to select a runway at the arrival airport. If I select a specific runway (say RWY 30L at KSJC) but, as I approach the airport, the prevailing winds are favoring the opposite runway (Rwy 12R), and the AI traffic is landing on 12R, then what happens? Will ATC override my selection, or will I still be allowed to land on my original runway of choice (which really would not make any sense since I'd be going against other traffic)? Thanks.

When doing pushback in FS9, the 'turn tail left / tail right' command conflicts with RC's commands for other functions. I don't see an option in the assignments in FS9 to change the 1 or 2 to something else. How can I get around this? Thanks

I notice that RC seems to be behind on AI announcements. While waiting for my departure from PHNL today, RC announced that Pan Am 1016 was on 6 mi final, when in fact, it had already landed. Is this just one of things about RC that might need a little work? Thanks

Well gents even wiith your help I can't seem to save the RC file in the middle of a flight. I have the path to save set up. When I press the semi-colon I get the expected window. I enter the name of the flight and press OK. However when I return to the Saved RCD files, the file that I thought I saved isn't there so there is nothing to retrieve. I think that I am following the manual correctly but I've obviously got it wrong. I am using FSX and Windows 7...can you give me any help??Thanks again,Eric

Here is a typical situation that just took place approaching KSEA in a JS 41. I was told to descend from 15000 to 7000 so I reduced dialed in the 7000,clicked ALT SEL and reduced power enough for a 1000ft/min descent. About 3 minutes later I received the first "check your altitude..your assigned alt is.....". So I reduced power to get a 2000ft/min descent and still got another call about my "incorrect altitude" before I could get to 7000. When cleared to 4000, I immediately set up a 2000ft/min descent and STILL got the same call along with directions to call the flight safety review (or whatever) immediately after landing. They are still waiting for my call heh, heh.Just …

Hi,A few times ATC tells me I am off course and tries to redirect me to 180 degrees from the direction I am travelling (and should be). The autopilot is following the correct course and I have checked that not only is the FMC progressing correctly but the FSX default GPS is also on course and displaying the correct next waypoint. RC4 knows where it is as it hands over to succesive ATCs on route, but keeps nagging that I am off course and to turn around back along the route. Today I flew an Easyjet A319 flight from Luton to Barcelona and everything was fine until half way across France when I was rerouted back along the route. The FMC was on route for the next correct wayp…

When I get weather around 45 miles out I am told landing runway 1L , 5 minutes later approach gives me runway 19R, as I'm flying by the field I notice 3 planes heading to runway 1L for take off. Now I'm really confused, but I select 1L and turn around to land at 1L . How do I find out the truth before I fly by the airport? Or do I ignore approach and take the weather runway?

Greetings to all, This may be a silly question, and I have searched but either not found a reference or this has not been asked before [but having past the age of retirement computer is not my first language]. I am interested in purchasing RC before doing so however is it suitable for GA with perhaps a UK bias. I have been flying FS for longer than I care to remember and I can count the number of times I have flown a ‘Jet’ or a ‘Heavy’ on one hand. I am strictly a single / twin prop or turbo prop sort of chap. Would RC be for me or is it primarily aimed at the ‘Cigar Tube Boys’? Regards Peter

Hello,I'm seriously considering purchasing Radar Contact but as is often the case it is quite hard to decide if it will fit the bill before parting with one's hard-earned pennies. We all use Flight Simulator in different ways. I know I am in the minority but in my imaginary world I always fly from a wide range of classic aircraft from around the world. This would not be a problem for extant operators but I assume RC does not cater for the many defunct ones in its vocabulary and I wouldn't dream of expecting any special arrangements for such. At present I use FS's own ATC system with the EditVoicePack and of course there it is easy, with a little practice, to develop "new" …

I have pretty much been flying flights of no longer than about 1:15 and as I want to start to do longer flights, I have the following question. How do you handle the case where you want to fly from say LAX to DFW and you don't want to sit in front of the computer for 2 + hours? I think you can set a "stop/pause" point at some point in the sim, or compress time, but how do you get all the frequencies/changes handled and acknowledged if you don't set the auto-reply function in Radar Contact?Hope this makes sense.Thanks.John

Did my first in RC flight in a long while and mostly went ok until I started the descent. I de-activate the 'auto-throttle' but the thrust would not decrease. #1 engine did but the other 3 stayed at full tilt. Put my throttle all the way to zero and it was unphased. I had to use max flaps and gear down to slow her down and even on the ground the thrust would not decrease but stayed where it was during cruise flight. Had to shut them down to stop the plane. Never ran into this before. I didn't think RC was connected to the thrust aspect of the flight. Any ideas?

Radar Contact usually works quite reliably. Today I did a flight from EGNT (Newcastle) to EGBE (Coventry) flying the Flight One 172R Cessna. I was parked in the general aviation area only seconds away from a runway hold located midway on the runway so that I could have taken off on either 07 or 25. I sat for quite awhile at the runway hold but received no direction to contact tower and no menu item to select for contacting the tower. I had to force a response by requesting the same runway that I had been assigned. From that point on everything worked ok until I was on final to runway 5 at Coventry. I could hear no other aircraft on final but was told to go around. I did s…

After installing RC4 on top of FsX and FSPassengers real-world weather fails to download. I get the message that FsX cannot access the web, despite the connection being OK. This happens both in the "download real weather and the 15 minute update modes. OS is W7.I am sure there is a simple, stupid solution to this one.

Hello,As far as my understanding goes, a vector approach will have ATC give me vectors to intercept a localizer and glideslop. Whereas the visual approach will have ATC vector me to line up with the runway. Can someone tell me if I understand this wrong?I just flew my first flight from Madrid Barajas to Maderia. I selected vector approach even though I knew that Maderia doesn't have ILS. ATC kept taking me on different turns that go nowhere, so I figured that may be because Madeira doesn't have ILS (shouldn't RC know this?) so I switched to visual approach and ATC started to vector me around the island and then just forgot about me! No more transmissions coming in from AT…

Hi all,I purchased RC this morning and I am very excited to give it a whirl tonight (currently stuck at work.) I was told there are add-ons to this add-on to improve voices, does anyone know where I can download said add-ons? Anything else I can download to complement RC?Thanks,

Has anyone else had any issues when running RC4 under Windows 7 Home Premium? I get the app launched, load a flight plan and start RC4 in the game just fine. Unfortunately any time I try to change freqs to WX or CLR, the application hangs and I have to kill task.I'm running both FS9 and RC4 as Administrator, I've tried FSUIPC 3.9.8 and 3.9.3 (both with the same results) and even went so far as to flip compatibility mode to Windows XP SP3 on for RC4. Any suggestions? Thoughts? Next Steps?

Before I run RC for the first time, I'm trying to rebuild my scenery database. I'm typing in the path where FSX is located, as directed, which is:C:\program files (x86)\microsoft games\microsoft flight simulator x. I've double-checked and this is the correct path.I'm not using a Widefs configuration, and am checking "no" to this question. But I keep getting "run-time error "75" path/file access error"Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Thanks.

I have just taken a look at the website and I am really impressed with what RC4 can offer. I fly exclusively on Vatsim and I wonder if RC can be incorporated into Vatsim when you are flying in uncontrolled airspace. Are any of you doing this now?Mark.

Should the destination MSA be entered as the altitude 40 miles out... or what ?Presumably, I am going to be told to descend to this point by Approach ? Is this correct ?

Purchased and installed RC 4.3. I received the email from JD and pasted the RC4 key, sent with the email, into the appropriate box as directed and then clicked "click here after you pasted your key in above". The window closes. but when I attempt to re-start RC, the same window comes up and asks, again, for the key. I did this numerous times with the same result. I have Windows 7 (64 bit) and I did right click the RC icon and then clicked the "run as administrator" option per the FAQ.Any help appreciated.Bob
