When I get my final descent to 120/110, I request to leave the frequency to get weather. However, if I'm controlling the comms, there's about a 3 minute delay before the ATIS responds. If Radar Contact has the comms, then the ATIS comes up instantly. Is this normal? Is there anyway to fix it?

Well gents I am still having trouble saving a flight and related progress point for RC. I can manage using the Ctrl+Shift+; but if I use just the ; and Save Flight feature, I save the flight but not the appropriate RC point. I have the path set up but clearly I am missing something. I would appreciate knowing how you more experienced (and younger) folks do your saving. Thanks,Grandpa

I have attempted to ILS flights to VTBS and each time I do not receive vectors to any of the ILS enabled runways. I use the Afcad provided by the author(s) and all looks in order when viewed in AFCAD and FS Navigator. I have updated the database twice with the same result. What other steps can I take to resolve this?ThanksDom

I was flying into Mallorca with the PMDG747, I was told to fly heading 95 degrees at 4500ft to intercept the ILS for runway 06L. I did exactly that and intercepted the localizer. The pink triangle (localizer symbol in my primary display) was all the way to the left, and didn't even move. I kept the localizer enabled until the glide slope became level with the plane, I then pressed on "APP." I had 110.90/060 in my NAV radio. I have done this many ILS approaches before. The plane flew level for a minute (pink triangle was still level) and then started moving back up to where it came from, all the while the plane was flying level at 4500ft.What happened there folks? Thanks fo…

Can you give me an idea of what to fix?15 minutes into a flight with Otto controlling Coms and the plane, Otto stopped responding to heading and altitude instructions.RC is still running: Instructions are being issued and Otto is changing frequencies but not reacting to other instructions. The FSUIPC window is showing the correct waypoints and is updating.None of the hotkeys are communicating with RC any longer. The plane is CLS A340-300. Also FSPassengers and FDC Live cockpit are running.I have removed already as many hot keys commands as I can from the other programs

Recently purchased RC. Love the product. I run on vista and I run as administrator and have done a couple flight so far without any problems. Tonight I was set up to do a longer flight, Milwaukee, WI to Philadelphia in a Twin-prop, 4 hours. First few parts of the flight went perfect. But as I was passing Cleveland I got handed off to another frequency with CLE Center and then got a CTD. From other forums one guy told me he's had some problems with CTD or freezing with RC. I tried to search the forums, is this common, just a hit or miss type deal?

I have a small problem with RC. Centers will always hand me to the next center late. For example,, if I am flaying from LHR and I am on London center, I won't be handed to Paris control untill I am over Paris or even beyond it. And some times I would stay on the same center until approach. I wouldn't mind it, but it gets silent and I don't hear ATC communicate with AI planes.I usually, stay at normal simulation speed till I reach cruising altitude and then to 8x, but I always go back to normal 4 nm before checkpoints. I, also, tried only 4x but it is the same. Any one else has the same thing?

Hi!I maybe missing something or maybe I do not see that option but in manual it is stated:"You will experience simple step descents, and no crossing restrictions. Youcan make an IAP approach request as early as 60 miles out if you wish, or hold out a bit whileyou watch for the airport to come into view."I descent with 3PD and I have the comms.I cant see on the menu the option to choose IAP 60nm out. I do see that when approach is taking over and that is 40nm out. What am I doing wrong?Thank you.

First of all: Thanks for this great product! I spent my whole holiday on it...and my wife is getting angry :)I´ve searched this forum for about 1,5 hours and still can´t find an answer for my little question:The manual for RCv4.3 mentions the following feature: 'When selecting your call sign, note that a space between the numbers defines how they are spoken. For example, 6 6 3 would be spoken as six, six, three. If you entered 6 63, it would be voiced as six, sixty-three.'This feature seems to doesn´t work for me. What am I doing wrong? It doesn´t matter in which way I enter the flight number, RC always speaks number, number, number. For example: When I enter 1 2 3, it …

One thing I've noticed is the default Flight Simulator airports often have arrival and departure frequencies when their real life counter parts do not.If I have this straight, "Approach/Departure" in FSX is equivalent to TRACON in real life? If so, most airports in real-life do not have this facility and you're in contact with Center until you're at around 5000 feet or so, at which case they ask you to contact tower. There are no vectors, no crossing clearance, and they ask you directly what kind of approach you'd like (visual or IAP).Even medium sized airports such as Buffalo, Milwaukee, Providence, and Jacksonville do not have TRACON facilities, despite them having publ…

Hi!Two things.1.I have rcv4.2 and I want an update for 4.3.Do I need to send email to jd asking for the download link?2. I have one pretty easy airport to land on. It is Stockholm Arlanda. The STAR and then IAP for runways 1L/1R using star TRS TRS2J approach approach is I would say, straight in. When I hit the 40nm mark from the airport I am told to contact approach and even before that for weather. Then, talking so slowly I loose vital descent time resulting in not taking the aircraft down properly. I need to use speed brakes in order to make a descent rate of almost 2200. That's not good. I loose vital time for the chit chat etc ... Of course there are other airports tha…

Hi. Sorry for this...complete Newby re Radar Contact. Thing is I've installed it...read the installation carefully...then when I get in FSX in game, the window comes up with the initial screen...1 CLR on CD etc ... and 2 Wx Brf etc. I can here the airport info...BUT when I press 1 or 2..NOTHING happens. I cannot get it to work. I have tried changing the key assignments, but it still doesn't work when I press the menu selection. What am I doing wrong? What have I missed? I note in my version of Radar Contact, there is no Modules along the top...just "Add ons' with 'FSUIPC' under it. Why won't it respond to me when I press the menu selection to get the clearance channel etc…

Hi,I wanted to ask two things:1. Can the aircraft parameters be changed in RC? Things like rate of descent and things of that sort? Reason I ask is that in my heavy jets it seems like to turn to final can be pretty tight and I often overshoot the beam. It seems I'm vectored to my final turn when I'm already perpendicular to the runway angle. Maybe I just don't make sharp enough turns? :)2. Other question, how does RC select runways, especially for landings? Unlike the FS9 ATC which vectors you to the closest runway, RC seems to vector to the farthest one. Today, from MMMX-KATL I was vectored to rwy 8L which is the northern most runway and my path intercepted othe…

First I do not like the idea of charging for something that is no cost to the SWREG outfit. All it takes is a few bytes on a disk file. It is not a "personal" download. Another $9.00 seems over the top to me.Anyhow, given that, the product outweighs the schemes of SWREG. So my question is:When you use the download option to acquire Radar Contact are you only allowed one download at the time of purchase?Dick near 5G8

I am a rc4 novice and was flying a VA flight from ENDI Dagali to EGKK Gatwick in an RJ85. Wx and clearance was by telephone. The terminal is near the 08 end of the rwy and the active was 26 - requiring a long taxi on the rwy downwind and then turn into wind for t/o.All seemed ok until between v1 and rotate, when an rc voice said something like: "Times up buddy, 20 minutes is enough for anyone, I'm cutting you off" and rc was gone.I was able to use the ms atc for the remainder of the flight but my question is: Is there any way to extend the 20 minutes allowance to, say, 30 minutes to allow for situations similar to that which I met at ENDI?Thanks for any advice, hrb.

I've recently had a computer crash and had to re-install Windows 7 64 bit.Having spent a couple of days getting FS9 back to where it was, including re-installing Radar Contact, I tried to do a flight this evening. As soon as I selected the flight plan in Radar Contact I got the following message:-"Runtime error 713. Class not registered. You need the following file to be installed on your machine:-MSSTDFMT.DLL"I've Googled this file and from what I've read on various forums there is a lot of uncertainty about how and where to install it. One PC magazine website warned against d/loading it from the numerous sites that offer it free.Has anyone else had this message and if s…

I finally got the hang of RC 4.3 and was flying along nicely from KCLE to KPHX when 2 hours into flight, my screen goes black and I get that dreaded "Microsoft Flight Simulator has encountered a problem and .... bla bla bla". You know the rest.At that moment RC was giving a command to change Center frequencies. I don't know if there was a connection or not, as this had never happened before when using the generic FS9 ATC. I really like the Autopilot options in RC where you can auto tune frequency changes and fly your route all on AP. I'm going to try the flight again this weekend and see if it happens again but just wondering if anyone had run into this. Not sure it …
