I love IFR this is what I do:1. Fire up MSFS 2002 and do flight /fuel/weight planning2. Request IFR clearance3. Do before, start up, and after checklists4. Do the traditional Shift P (Can't request to MSFS ATC)5. Request to taxi/Taxi Check lists6. Request to takeoff- takeoff7. Fly the DIP to the numbers8. I have to CANCEL IFR to follow transition altitudes9. From there I have to imagine everything:10. Altitude changes, Vectoring Weather, etc you name it11. Initial cruise altitude: (?)12. Descending (try to do it by Steps) remember, now I'm flying VFR at FL350!!!!13. Approaching, Fly the Star by the numbers, (for those random holding patterns

Hi AllHave Adv/Disp installed and docking with no problems, question should ATIS Text be unchecked when using RC3.When I open up ADV/Disp in the module menu everything is unchecked except Atis Text.I have requested atis with Adv/Disp docked and using the 1" square size as recommended makes it difficult to read.I did read the manual but still in the dark about Atis Text. Thanks for any assistance.Kenny G.

JD,I fly for a couple of VAs that use ADV scripts to monitor flight performance for post-flight reporting. Am I right in concluding that I'll still be able to do this with RC3 as it is now external to FS?ThanksAndyEGTR

Before I buy V3, I just want to ask a couple of quick questions.1. Do you still get crossing restrictions when descending, and if so, are they still 40 miles from the last waypoint on the route, or are they now actually at a waypoint?2. Will V3 choose the departure runway from the current weather conditions AND the length of the runway? I didn't particually like the way it guided you to a small standby runway when bigger ones were avaliable.3. If you choose to use a different departure runway than the one originally given to you, will the AI traffic still use the other runway, or will they then use the one you have selected?Only a few minor points, and I'll probably end u…

If I build my STAR to the point of the last fix on the plate, will RC vector me from that point?Example; (referring to the attached pic) I make my STAR according to the plate and end it at BASRA. I make the final point for FSNavigator purposes to runway 8L. Will RC vector me out radial 260 and then into the runway on its own? What I want is to do the STAR as discribed on the plate. That means following it along until BASRA and then maintaining the present heading for vectors to final approach as the plate tells me to. http://www3.telus.net/dport1/dansig.jpg

tomorrow my mother will be flying into hartsfield (katl), from tampa (ktpa), so i decided to duplicate the flight. i closed outlook, i closed the browser, fired up fs2002, fsmeteo, and vb (i still like to watch the code run on the second monitor. gives a warm fuzzy feeling !)i can't remember the last time i flew 1.5 hours. what a treat.couple of things worth mentioning. be careful flying rc at 4x. where i normally give you 30 seconds to reply to a controllers clearances, at 4x, you have about 8 seconds. too many of those is going to lead to a bit of a tongue lashing at the end. controllers don't like to repeat things to people who don't listen well.i've had my fun, i'm op…

(edited to move back to top. Yikes, I'm talkative!)Since this is brought up a lot, I thought I'd make a thread just for this topic. Please read the manual section titled: Making use of FS2002 ATC for Your ChatterIt explains how to use your radios to monitor FSATC on Comm 2 and how to add a Comm 2 radio if you don't have one installed on your panel.RC always uses Comm 1 whether it's the active radio or not. The active pertains only to FSATC.Monitoring FSATC on Comm 2 removes potential conflicts between RC and FSATC - like hearing RC ATIS/Wx and FSATC ATIS when RC tunes to it.Secondly, it's a good idea to reduce the volume of FSATC so it's just background chatter level, an…

Can anyone recommend an XP compatible Voice Recognition Program for combining Radar Contact V3 with FS2002? For me anyway, 'talking' to ATC is a must.Thank you,John Marino

John,Awhile back I was commenting on a thread about RCV3 not being able to see ground traffic and I said that FS ATC could not control ground traffic either. They oft-times taxi across the grass and sometimes take off beside the runway, both of which are fixable with AFCAD.When I received your E-mail to purchase RCV3 I thought about that and had to add this. Have you ever seen a MD90 run off the runway into the mud on a stormy night? It takes the US Army, 16 cranes, and an act of God to get it out! Thank God that is not required in FS2002. :-)Gary

I have been reading the new manual and you state that the 2 best planners are FSNav and Nav 3,I would like to know if Nav 3 data base is up to date as the last I saw was Jan 2002 and the DP|Stars was back in 2000.I have used this planner in the past and its very good but I am not sure its data has been updated,do you know if it has and not been posted? Hi Everone, I wonder how you set up RC so that you will be given a Straight-In approach without any Approach Control vectoring? Thus far I haven't been able to receive a Straight-In approach from Approach Control. I must be doing something wrong. Thanks

Hi allA post on a different forum somewhere asks the question "Why would anyone pre-order?"Well, when a developer who you have dealt with before brings out a product you just know is going to be a "must" you pre-order to get your hands on it as quick as possible. When the developer provides the kind of service that JD, Doug, Rick et al delivers you know you can be sure of customer service that goes way beyond anything you can rightly expect (should include Scott in there too because he is so quick to help)I read the post JD made first thing this morning, UK time and as I had not received an e-mail I sent one in to JD. Despite the fact that it was about 1:54am where he is …

I noticed this line in the manual:"Preasure readings are "Altimeter" in the USA, QNH everywhere else."We use Alimeter, not QNH, in Canada. I believe it's all of North America, not just USA, that uses Altimeter. Is this an error in the manual or is this really how Ver3 will work?

hello folks out there i have both FSnavigator and RC 2.2, and it works well i think , this has happened several times before.when ever i taxi , after i have clearance to do so and i get to the runway , and there is another plane in front of me waiting to take off , it will sit there forever in fact it wont go anywhere, and if i set the parking break, atc will have me line up with the runway even though there is a plane or two in front of me.is this a RC problem or a flight navigator problem.is there somthing i need to do to correct this. Thanks ........................Camtech

Hi Gang, I seem to have a consistent problem with ATC giving me enough time to get down to ATC dictated flight-levels. No matter what I try I still seem to fall short of their requirement unless I sort of dive the aircraft, unrealisticaly, down to altitude. It was always my belief that the airline industry tries to use a descent rate of about 1800/ft-min but I would need on the order of 2500-3000 ft-min to meet RCATC's altitude requirement. As I use FSNav, which has the specific aircraft descent rate info, to export to RC I wonder why RCATC never, never follows the FSNav generated flightplan as far as the point where RCATC issues a BOD command? Not even…

I just noticed that it will be a full installation and not an upgrade, so should one un-install v.2 first? Will it install itself in a new library or should you install it on top of v2?Maybe a stupid question, but i don't want to risk to many problems when the day comes! :-)CheersLars Kl

Hi JD,Before I start the massive printing task of the above I suppose I am right in assuming that no manual will be supplied with the upgrade when it shortly becomes available?Thought it wise to check first!Best WishesEric Pennington

Hi,I've problems with AdvDisplay on my system (AMD Athlon XP 1800+ with GeForce3 Ti-200). It always get's invisible when I click on the panel. I need to use the menu entry to show the window again: loosing the window size and docking state. Is there anything I can do against it and can I control RCV3 without AdvDisplay?ThanksThomas

Just wondering how many past versions of RC have been sold and how many version 3 copies do you think will sell in the few months following release? Though I have never used past versions of RC it looks like you have a pretty neat product and I find it interesting how people make a niche in an industry like this. Sounds like a nice little business.Maybe I should have invested 70k on software development rather than flight school. I would probably be making more money! :)P.S. I was just looking at the Avsim 2002 survey. I was suprised that such a small percentage of users are actual pilots. I wonder if folks that tend to seek out a program like RC are the users that t…
