Hi,I am trying to run RC3 (just got it) and the new ActiveSky wxRE (just got it too ;)) together, and I am wondering how I can get the weather info messages (FlightWatch Radio) generated by ActiveSky to stay visible in the AdvDisplay window which is already occupied by RC. The messages disappear right away (RC is probably redrawing), too quick and impossible to read. I must admit that I didnt read the full RC documentation yet, so maybe I am just missing something. There must be a way to use the ActiveSky FlightWatch together with RC3, right ?Thanks,Dirk

Greetings:I'm working my way through the tutorial flights, and have had the following problem twice:I think it is the 3rd (or 4th) tutorial. The one where you take off from Smyrna, TN, and do a bunch of missed approaches at various airports in the area to learn about different options, depending on whether it is a controlled field, etc.Everything goes fine until I try selecting the Missed approach. So far I have noticed it mostly at KSYI (with NOTAMS selected, as per the instructions in the manual). I am cleared for the approach, and then eventually select "Missed Approach". The RC manual then says to select the "Hold As Publised" or "Land KTHA" options after the cont…

Hi,first of all I love RC3. GREAT WORK!Now to the possible bug. On my german system the options are not saved correctly. It seems that you save the slider positions as double. So the values are stored as "y,x" and not "y.x" with german settings. As you use ',' as the field delimiter the options are not read correctly. If I can help to solve the problem let me know.Another question: Is it possible to disable the synthetic chatter and only play chatter waves if available?RegardsThomas

Can anyone offer a brief objective "pros and cons" of the various flight/nav managers...I really would rather only use one, esp. if a free one offers everything. I understand that most excel in different areas, but I am limiting myself to 2 at most. Right now I have FSbuild and NAV3.1... but then there's SFP, FSNav, IFR someting, and a couple others (included on the RC3 CD I just purchased). Am I still missing something by not having purchased FSNav? Any insights into these others would be greatly appreciated. FWIW - I use FSFlightMax and RealityXP FLA...Thanks,Gino

A question for you RCv3 gurus. In earlier version of the product, ATC always issued direct descent instructions or simply said, "Cross 40 miles from KFOO at 10,000" (for example). Rarely could I follow a published arrival without the controller harping on me for descending too late or too soon or busting altitude. I more or less had to ignore the published procedure entirely and just let RC do the driving from about 100 miles out.Does v3 offer any better support in this regard where I can file a plan with crossing restrictions and have ATC say, for instance, "Continue inbound via published procedure, cross waypoint XXXXX at 10,000" (where 10,000 would actually be the pub…

Under the key commands, it shows Save RC/FS State as Control, Shift, and what looks to a "q" although I don't think that it is. First what character is it, and does this key save the flight while in progress like going back to the main menu and hitting the save button? I guess I'm getting a little senile or my eyes are bad, but would appreciate someone giving me an answer on this. Thanks,Don Whitfieldhttp://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3df969a06a98783d.gif

I have been trying some flights from KSEA to KPDX, using RWY 28 L or 28 R ILS.I note that when I fly the flight using FS 2002 ATC I am always given vectors and stepped descents that keep me free of the mountains off to the East of KPDX, and am correctly vectored to intercept the ILS.Trying for a vectored approach to 28 L, for example coming from the North,[without NOTAMS] RC3 always flies me into the mountains, and if I refuse to descend as told to avoid crashing I get yelled at. Could not do this true IFR conditions obviously. When I try the Notams and choose arrival BOONEVILLE, I have to go 60+ miles out of my way for any of the transitions which are from the East, and …

It's come to my attention that when one of us says to "Save a dat and send them to us", most people won't have clue what that means. So here's a brief tutorial.A "dat" is the *.dat file that RC saves in RCV30saved. RC also saves the state of FS in the FS2002flightsmyflts or FS2000pilots or FS98pilots directory.Let's say you're running FS2002 and after starting and running RC:Click "Save Flight" from the RC interface.A dialogue opens to name the file. Let's say you name it something like "Flight to the Hamptons".RC saves:RCV30savedFlight to the Hamptons.dat.FS2002flightsmyfltsFlight to the Hamptons.flt.FS2002flightsmyfltsFlight to the Hamptons.wx.Those are the files we'…

I just did my 3rd flight with RC and must say I'm very impressed. I did a flight using the FSD Seneca V, the new ActiveSkyRE and RCv3. Wow, what a combo. Hit marginal WX at destination and requested the VOR-A. I got a late tower handoff forcing a missed approach and hold. Came in on a second approach which was perfect. The ATC chatter is great and makes it much more realistic. I didn't even care to listen to my AI traffic on the default ATC during the flight. I even got some nice comments in the post-flight briefing! This program will be a great help in keeping my instruments skills up for the real-world!Eric

RC3 has been working pretty good for me from the start. Outstanding program! However I have noticed that I'm taking quite a frame rate hit when the ADV display is activated. I'm dropping down from 21-22 FPS to 14-15 FPS when the ADV is activated. Placement of it or docked /undocked makes no difference. Normal? Fitz

Hello, I recieved my key this morning- went in like a charm. But, like others, when i tried my first flight, I had no sound from RC3. I promptly updated the drivers for my sound card, but it didn't help. I turned off my sound acceleration, but that didn't help. If I run RC3 by itself , and press the speaker icon, I get sound, but otherwise its dead airspace I'm afraid. Here's my set-up:Windows98 first version.1.4g AMD Tbird cpu512megs sdramvisiontek/nvidia GeforceII mx 32meg vid. cardSound Blaster SBpc128 sound cardFs2002 Any thoughts or insights will be greatly appreciated. Cheers.P.S. I kept RC2.2 installed, just in case.

  16. Using Flight Deck companion and RC3, when taking off the PNF calls 80 knots and inmediatly after that everything freezes. I'm able to replicate the problem every time. If I change the priority from High to Normal fs2002 will work fine again. So the High, Abovenormal, Realtime settings are a solution for some. I bet anybody using FDC can replicate this also. Maybe other add ons will give problems also.

Not sure whether I corrupted some files, I unzipped Scotts wave files in RCV30Winwood and when I request an Altimeter reading I am getting the Eurpeon version. When flying I am not getting the IFR vectors, but seem to always get visual approachs even when I didn't request them.Unsure if I have somehow unzipped Scott's files which were supposed to change Control to Centre in Canada in the wrong directory. My question I guess do I just uninstall the program and re-install and do I use the same key or do I have to get a new one.Tks. for an assistance.Kenny G.

When positioning the AdDsply and pressing right click to DOCK - it vanishes (first problem?). Then fsmeteo for real weather. Then RC3: loading flight plan and firing up RC. Second thing I noticed: speech is slow. The problem has been reported earlier: it

I left an earlier message re: no radar vectors for an ILS approach to London CYXU departing Toronto City Airport CYTZ.I believe the reason I did not get vectored is due to the airport not serviced with an approach.I have checked the manual and have flown the IFR route several times and can not see where I can request an ILS approach to London CYXU.What is happening I am handed back the plane approx. 30 to 40 miles from my destination and have to fly the ILS approach to Rwy 15 using my charts which I don't have LOL.In real life arrival aircraft can get vectored for the ILS approach.Any assistance appreciated.Kenny G.

Hi All,Has anyone heard when and if FSNavigator5.0 may be released? I posted the question on the FSNavigator forum awhile back and got no response at all. I haven't seen Helga log on to the site in months. I just wondered if there would be a new release and if any of you people had heard anything. Helga said many months ago that 5.0 would be released in October or November of this year but since then nothing has been said.Gary

you may have noticed the graphics are a little muddy this morning.i editted the size and dimension of the radar contact signature graphics, so we can meet the new avsim signature restrictions. since i simply resized the grpahics, they may look a little muddy. i'm sure when our resident graphics expert has some time, he can make them look super again.

I have noticed that the frequencies(CD,Gnd,Dep.,etc)for my airport are not accurate. I see that these frequencies are in an Excel database. Is there any reason that I cannot correct these in that db so I don't have to change it everytime I go into the "controllers" options in RC3? GLBatRIC
