it also depends on how far the last checkpoint is from the arrival airport. if the distance is less than 5 miles you will have the option. more than 5 miles, you will always get vectors.jd

Hello,I'm using the latest build of RC3.01 with Activesky WXRE 1.7. RC3 correctly reads the current surface ATIS at my destination but the tower controller reads the wind at the aircrafts current altitude rather than that of the surface. I have verified that this will happen on every RC3.01 flight I make. This happens only on landing approach. Takeoff winds and surface winds in Activesky are the same, so that is not a problem. So ATIS working great, Tower not so great :)

Just out curiosity, do you get anything from MS concerning FS2k4 before it hits the shelves? I get the impression that other developers seem to have access (maybe they just beta test?).Just wonderingthanks

How about using (have a gauge designer build it) a visible or invisible TCAS gauge built to your requirements to feed RC the AI info it needs, if this idea has merit. I am planning on putting one in my commercial flight cockpits. There appear to be a few existing freeware add-ons that could probably be modified. Just a short position history of each target would be kept if needed to determine direction. I do not know if these gauges show mode C altitude and, of course, VFR AFAIK does not show. But it would apply in B and C airspace for VFR as well.Just submitted for a future consideration.

Since upgrading to 3.01 I have noticed garbage "box" characters in the default message display window, the kind that usually represent characters outside the display font's character set. I try to use AdvDisp when I can but it doesn't work well with some A/C. Is there a fix? Thanks,Peter

Here is a fair question:How does RC "know" which is the "active" runway at a destination airport?I recently "flew" my Corporate Citation X from KWMC (Winnemucca, Nev.), to KOGD (Ogden, UT.). On descent I requested Rnwy 3 (a straight in shot) and got it. However, Rnwy 21, it's opposite, was the active and I had a nice view of the undercarriage of an MD-80 taking off as I approached.Shouldn't RC have denied me Rnwy 3 and advised to vector over to 21?Are the winds/active rnwys considerations built into RC to begin with? Winds were calm, by the way.Captain Dadhttp://jdtllc.com/images/RCsupporter.jpg

Is it possible to get rid of my co-pilots and ATC voices that are American? No offence but I only fly UK regional and short haul to Europe and the American voices sound out of place. Finally can you add your own callsigns to RC3? Eg. I wan to add the TNT cargo callsign "NITRO" but can't seem to manage it.

Just flew my first RC flight... I must admit, it was pretty cool and accurate.I was wondering... does anyone have RC set up on another machine using WideFS? It's supposed to be smoother and more responsive (although I dont find that much of a problem as it is).I have three machines running WideView now, so another wont be a problem. Thanks in advance.JohnNewburgh, IN

Guys:GREAT program. Just one thing (forgive me if someone already asked this question): When I'm flying any plane with any FP WITH DOWNLOADED WEATHER, I keep getting busted when I'm handed over to Center. Alt is set correctly and trans alt is set to 180. I must "clear all weather" to keep from having to see QA upon landing. I have NOT yet flown above FL100. Was I wrong to set the TA for 180? Should I have set it at all? Please advise.sean hall

RC is a great add-on. Down the road, maybe you could clean up some of the voice files? I know it's tough, but it would make the whole environment that much better to speed up the AI chatter. Just a thought...sean hall

Hi all,Why does the program have the pilot deviate from the flight plan for traffic when there's no traffic within 15nm? I've had instances where aircraft are head-on within 2nm of my position, and yet no calls to change heading for traffic?I'm using My Traffic for AI traffic generation; FS FlightMax and Garmin 530 to check traffic.Cheers,Mike T.

Despite setting the transition altitude as 060 in Options (the default setting for the UK / most Europe), the ATC still request use of QNH between 060 and 180, instead of switching to standard baro 1013 29.92. If switch to standard 1013 on passing 060, then RC complains about "watch your altitude" and still advises QNH.Is this a bug ?Regards,Stuart;-)

I am using Win XP Pro and have RC3.01 set at ABOVENORMAL and the controller voices and responses still seem slow in relation to the pilot and Otto.I tried changing it to high priority and the program would not load.Is there any other solution or am expecting too much? Thanks,Ron

JD,I got the wind speed/direction data block on FSFlightMax working. I reset AdvDisp(which I had also updated) and the indicator started working again. I don't know why that would affect FSFlightMax but it did.Just wanted you to know in case anyone else runs into a similar problem.maxsdadhttp://jdtllc.com/images/RCsupporter.jpg

I have been using RC since FS2K & v2 and love it. Currently my flights in FS2K2 are using DF 737, Simflyers for all airports I fly, MyTraffic NG and FSMeteo. On approach I am assigned a runway contrary to the wind direction and AI aircraft are taking off in the opposite direction I am landing. Though I can request another runway, by default I am always assigned one that is downwind, whats up? Is there a setting I need to check/change somewhere? Takeoff runway assignments are appropriate, this only happens on approach.Thanks.FL_Flyer

I have installed version 3.0.1. After that I discovered that the "Pilot Auto Replay" under "Options" is greyed out. It is not possible anymore to check or uncheck it. In version 3.0 this option was available. What is the cause of that? Another question I have is how RC is determing which runways are available at an airport. I downloaded the newest AIRAC-cycle from Navdata and I supposed that the new runway at EHAM (18R-36L) should therefore be available in RC. Unfortunately only the "old" runways at EHAM were visible in RC (Controller info page). Can anyone help me out? Thanks in advance.Alje Bakker

JD,I have noticed that when RC3(latest version) is running I do not get the wind speed/direction readings on my FSFlightMax(latest version) while using ActiveSky WXre(also latest version). If I shut down RC3 the readings come right on. I first noticed this when I had ActiveSky running before I started RC3 and then again when I ended a flight and shut down RC3. Before starting RC3 and after it was shut down I had the readings, but while it was running I had no readings for the entire flight. Also, yesterday I flew VFR without RC3 and had the readings for the entire flight. Is there some setting I need to set in RC3 or FSUIPC that I didn't need before the latest updates? Can…

Can anything be done to increase the number of seconds between the time the controller gives you a heading / altitude change and then calls you back to yell at you before you can begin the actual descent/new heading? http://jdtllc.com/images/RCsupporter.jpg :-spacecraft

I do not get warned about changing the filename extension, in step 3. End result being when I click OK to save changes in step 4, I get a invalid file path dialog box. I'm stuck?

Hi,I downloaded RC v. 3.01 and overwrote the old file without a backup ;-( . Now I cannto start RC. I get a error message about"Run-time error 62 Input past end of file". What does it mean?I use WinXP pro and FS2002pro. Now I'm using a file calledrc3b.exe because the other one was overwritten. Anybody out there has a clue about the runtime error?I tried severall times to make a search throuth the forum, in order to find an answer but I never got a response from the server...itsearces and searches and searches.....ThxConstantin LazzariBad Aibling, Germany

Hi AllIf I try and run these three together then FS crashes when I ask for a weather briefing. FS works with RC3.01 and with Activesky 1.7 fine individually but repeatably crashes with both together. Am I missing something obvious?thanksJon

Hi; When flying in the Victor airway structure, when I get altimeter setting calls, they are often repeated twice in quick succession. Also, when I ask for a rwy change on approach, the controller says "Expect the rwy XX"...shouldn't it be just "expect rwy xx" (without the "the" in there)?CheersBob
