Does the ATC give speed as well as lateral and vertical commands during approach? I don't currently own your program but am considering. I could not find information on this at your website or in the forum. Thanks in advance.Mike MKDFW

Hi! I ordered V3 cd this past weekend and have a few questions on installation before my disk arrives.First of all I plan on installing RC V3 on a networked PC connected using WideFS. I read the installation portion of the manual, and it states that a selection needs to be made regarding the version of FS to install for. 1. Can the installation be made to work for both FS2002 and FS2004? on the one WideFS networked PC? I plan on upgrading some day to FS2004.2. Since this PC is WideFS configured is there any issues with not having any FS folders installed on the PC when installing RC?Thanks, Scott

With ADVdisplay 2123 running I'm getting very slow loading of textures especially in cockpit when changing views. It also appears to be affecting my scenery texture (ground tiles) loading time. As soon as I turn advdisplay off, the textures load instantly.I used earlier versions of advdisplay in FS2K2 under WinMe and saw no similar performance degradation. In FS2K4 under WinXP I'm having the problems.Anyone experienced this/have a solution?BTW, I've read everything in the forum about advdisplay.Maybe I've got something configured incorrectly. Otherwise loving RC3.1. :-hah Thanks, AdamP4 2.4TI4200 128 MB768 PC333 DDRWinXP Home

Hiya, Just curious as to how I would set up a VFR flight on Radar contact? What if I just wanted to take off and fly around under VFR? What if I wanted a VFR flight plan? Radar contact always wants me to recieve an IFR clearnence and starts vectoring me. How would I set a flight out of Honolulu, fly around the Island for a while and then return to Honolulu, with the ATC telling me vectors out of PHNL but then letting me do my own thing after I am out of his airspace? At the moment I can only set up IFR flights! Thanks

Hi guys,When the next sitting takes place for any future controller recordings, would you be kind enough to add the Cougar Leasing callsign "Speedcat" to your list. This would then complement the various Cougar Liveries available especially Bill Browning's fictional 737NG.Thanks in advance. :)

How can i pacify the impatient controllers?Scenario -Cruising FL410 and cleared descent (45nm early) FL270.Descending FMC Path descnet 0.755/209kts with speed restriction 240/FL160. Approaching FL270 I am further cleared Descent FL150 followed by FL100. Approaching FL170 ROD reduces from 3000 fpm to 400 fpm to slow the aircraft at which point the controller angrily reminds me that I was cleared to FL100.NB on this particular occasion i was going to be given holding vectors and did not receive the usual "I need you level in 30 miles or less".BTW does one ever get holds rather than holding vectors?TIA...

Those who enjoy using real-world flight plans might like to know that I've just uploaded 100 r-w plans for the PMDG B737 in *.rte format. I've also included an identical set in *.pln format for use with Radar Contact 3 and the FS2000/02/04 GPS.The plans cover a large number of UK and European destinations with a couple of transatlantic flights thrown in for good measure. With flight times between 27 minutes (Stansted-Amsterdam) and 8 hours 47 minutes (Munich-Newark) there should be something for everyone. They should be available from the libraries at AVSIM.com and Flightsim.com as '73ngfpl1.zip' sometime during the next 24 hours.Happy flying.Pete

With a deviation such as you describe, are you getting credit for each checkpoint you have filed? It almost sounds as if you are being vectored back to a previous checkpoint. If you are using the adv window, then at the top it lists the next checkpoint you must cross unless RC approach starts vectors to final if so selected. The next checkpoint should agree with your GPS route as filed. If this is the case, then investigate the advanced menu option to skip a checkpoint and go on to the next.

3.10 build 2205 FS2K2 FSUIPC (full reg) 3.11. W98SE DX8, 756 RAM (recognised by W98), 2.52 Gz CPU, GeF 4 TI4200 - 128.To make this quick, if I bring up any one of several aircraft types and let it sit parked at the gate, if I have a plan loaded and RC started:Every time I let ATIS run a couple of minutes, eventually I get an audio chattering tone, then the FS2K2 trap window pops up. The error data states (I'm a bit of a C++ programmer) that an exception (C5) was thrown addressing 0:0, a no-no of course. All that's running is FS and RC. I have tried all levels of DX audio accelleration including off. The time to crash varies but is still persistent. When I close out FS, RC i…

I have installed RC3.1 and use it with FS2004. I am getting corrupted text on the ATC screen. Does anyone know why this is happening please.

This may have been reported but I did not see it in a search ...Using RC 3.1 2205 with ActiveSky Release 1.91, I recently noticed that during approach only, the altimeter reported by the RC controller correctly matches the FS-maintained altimeter, but both are different than the ATIS reported altimeter. For example, yesterday, while approaching KIAD I was told to descend to 10000, altimeter 3015. This was confirmed by pressing 'B' on the keypad. When my f/o got the ATIS info, the altimeter was reported at 3005. So, I dialed in 3005, and noticed that my level of at 10000 was too low. So, checked with approach - 3015. I pressed 'B' and and the altimeter setting went bac…

1)I've set the transition altitude to 18,000 msl, so above that altimeter to 29.92. However, ATC keeps giving me the altimeter such as 30.11 and I need to get on altitude. So when I change to ATC's setting, I get no complaints. 2) This is typical on approach: heading 080 degrees. "Descend to 8 thousand and leaving 10 thousand fly heading 310." I begin the desent to 8 thou, and several minutes later I get this sarcastic remark that I'm supposed to be heading 310, but I'm coming thru 17 or 16 thou, again, the clearance being turn "leaving 10 thou." This has happened several times. So last night, I descended 2 or 3 thousand feet, began the turn, and got yelled at beca…

Hi all, Just got RC in the mail today and got it installed and updated and registered.Took my first flight and simulated an emergancy very happy with how the program worked a few questions though...1) How do I avoid double chatter when checking ATIS (wx). I get both the standard Microsoft ATIS infomation plus the Radar Contact2) How do I enable myself to see the WX updates comeing in from FS Meteo or Active SKY sometimes they pop in the ADV window sometimes not.I'm using FS9 if it matters.

On a number of occasions, sitting at the gate with all the preparations complete (FMC programmed, Altitudes, headings...etc all set) I load Rcv3.1 in readiness to get Atis and clearance and all of a sudden FS9 has closed down completely. RC is still loaded and cannot be reset until FS9 is restarted (rc loaded in normal mode). As you can imagine that this gets to be very frustrating! Has this happened to anyone else?TIA

Well I am back again and have enjoyed serveral issues and years of Radar contact but I had to upgrade my video driver and now I can't use Radar Contact. I posted about two months ago about about all the lights and stuff going into squares when I turn on RC3 and then it locks up. It was suggest to revert back to old video drivers I did and it worked great but know I had to upgrade to get drives that were Direct X 9 capibale and now it doesn't work. So I guess I will have to say goodbye to a great product unless you might have some new ideas or an update or something. Bottom line don't want to loose this great product. The BugmanJackson, Tennesseehttp://jdtllc.com/images…

Hi people... Ok Ok... I am mostly (99% of the time) a GA VFR guy flying in FS2004...Can someone please try to tell mw what can I get from RC knowing that I mostly just fly VFR? Please. I really want to buy this product but I have read there are no real benefits for VFR flying. What I would love to have is that, while flying VFR, suddenly request the ATC of a nearby airport to vector me in a specified runway, for example.. Is this possible? What else can you tell me to convince me? Thanks! I heard that for IFR this is night and day... Congratulations!!Best regards,Carlitos

Well... I haven't been able to get RC3.1 to work on my new XP system and FS-2004. The last attempt was to uninstall and reinstall which turns out to be a bad move because of registration (it won't register). I'm tired of playing around with it! If I decide I want to run RC, I will go to my Win98 system and run it with FS-2002. The only thing I REALLY miss is the co-pilot. Maybe I'll start working on writing a co-pilot only program, unless, of course, someone beats me to it. It looks like I'm the only one with this problem...I don't see any other complaints. Anyway, when the full operational, bug-free version for FS-2004 is available, let me know (I'm hoping that all pr…

As per the subject line, I'm a brand new user. Only could fire it up for a brief period last night and have the following issues:1. The text display (AdvDisp?) is garbled with red boxes and truncated text. What's the problem? The green display box goes all the way across the monitor, yet the text is basically only on the left 2 inches.2. I guess you have to Alt-Tab to start both programs? I started MSFS 2004 then Alt-Tab to desktop to start RC. Is there a better way?3. Haven't tried turning hardware acceleration down yet, but why are voices so draggy? MSFS voices aren't. Also, I'm hearing additional voices besides RC. Are those from the MSFS ATC system? Do most of you tur…

I was flying the default 777-300 with RC and turned the aircraft and communications over to the copilot -- I got the proper verbal responses. I left the computer with the aircraft at FL150 on a flight plan (built by FS2004 Flight Planner) calling for FL340. When I returned an hour later, the aircraft was apparently still at FL150. It was night I couldn't get a good visual on my altitude but the dial still read "15000".Does the copilot function work all right in FS2004?I thought I'd ask the question before doing too many experiments that I don't have time to do right now.Thanks.

Hello, I'm new to the boards. I have started to use MSFS 2004 to help me with my real IFR training. I use it to practice my scan and procedures. As I discover other aspects of MSFS that will help with my IFR training, I'll incorporate them. I guess my question goes to you real IFR pilots. Can RC provide a realistic enough environment for me to practice my clearences, holds and approaches as well as the enroute stuff? I'm going to buy RC regardless to have some fun; however, I was hoping I could incorporate some/all aspects into my real training...thanks for your time....regards....Keith
