Hi folks,i ordered my RCv4 copy on sunday january 22nd.Now:1) how long does it usually take to arrive in Italy?2) does it make sense updating RCv3 ILS database? If i have understood RCv4 will build its navaid database upon FS9/addon sceneries. True?ThanksLuigi ;-)

Hi - This is just a FYI for those people that use VB with RC4. In using VB with FS9's ATC, you have to wait until there is no talking before giving the VB ATC command or you get a "beep" and have to redo. With RC4, when given instructions to contact approach, etc - I immediately give the VB command "Select 1" while the Co-Pilot is talking - this results in the command being executed immediately. When I was using the default ATC there was a little trick you could use during long flights so you didn''t need to be at the computer for 8 hours. Once at cruise ATC asks you to contact the next center, as long as you acknowlegded and switch frequencies but not call in to the next center, until you are a few hundred miles from your destination you can let the flight progress without the fear that your IFR clearance will be canceled because you missed an ATC call. That way you don't need to constantly moniter the flight for the next 8 hours. Is there a way to do something similar with RC?Dave Fisher

Is in normal for RC4 to freeze AI aircraft in your vicinity in the air if it conflicts with the airborne user plane. I have noticed aircraft that have been called out by RC4 to spot at 2 o'clock etc are frozen at 4 or 6 kts in the sky. Is this how RC 4 handles area traffic?ThanksBrian

The manual indicates when 'resume own navigation' is received from rcv4 then i should fly direct to that waypoint either by FS GPS or VOR 1. I have been using the FS GPS and turning to the (CTS) course to steer heading.On some flights rc will say that i am off my filed plan of flight and to fly xxx heading.Last night i departed houston and was heading to BPT and i was flyinbg 085 degrees when i received the resume own navigation so i turned to the cts course and rc complained until i the gps brought me in line with BPT.Any ideas?Thanks,

I've noticed that in airfields, there is MUCH more action going on in the airport than RC4 seems to be handling. I understand the general way to get rid of FS ATC is to turn off the sound for it, which is great for simplifying it in the context of getting the sound out of my ears, but I wonder if RC is actually controlling the AI planes, and how does it account for it when placing the user's plane in a holding pattern due to traffic at a destination airport, and do the AI planes actually do what RC tells them to...For that matter, one enhancement I'd like to see in RC is realistic ground traffic management. Can that be worked in at some point, hopefully before v5 comes ou…

At CYZT the text for selecting Runway 29 is missing. The slot is there, but only half the line of text is showing up and the "previous" and "next" pages text on the next line is also missing. This has happened both times I've been there. It still works, as by deduction you can figure out that option 5 must be runway 29, but odd - so thought I'd report it.Anybody care to pay a visit to CYZT and check it out? It's a beautiful part of the world, well worth the trip, but it rains a lot - so beware.This is the only place I've seen this oddity. Thanks

Hi there,I'm considering buying Radar Contact but i am still unsure. I'm hoping you can convince me, lol.I have a couple of questions.1)After reading a lot of stuff on these forums i understand that there is no ground traffic managment. Does that mean that AI aircraft will just taxi through me if i'm in their way?2)How does RC integrate with other add-ons such as UK2000 scenery, FsPassengers, AISmooth and PMDG 737? By this i mean will it conflict with these addons or can it run side by side.Also how stable is the product. Will it be more hassle than its worth or does it operate with the minimum of fuss. The tower instructed me to "go around" from my IAP approach and then gave me vectors which I followed while I cleaned up the aircraft and accelerated. By then I was looking for an option to request a second IAP approach but I wasn't offered one! I could get an IAP option only after declaring an emergency. Did I miss something?Fred

JD,I wanted to do tutorial 4 today.But at 19 miles before VOR SYI I got the dreaded CTD. Just after getting permission to leave the radio freq to get the weather: bingo !As I have the Autosave I restarted FS and RC4 (that worked perfectly just as nothing never happened). But at 19 miles from SYI again bingo.I have upgraded ASV two or threee days ago and this is my first flight after the upgrade. I also replaced several AI repaints before that.I was flying with ASV, RC4, FSNav (before the restart).Do you have any suggestion ?

Hello,Inbound to EHAM from EDDF I was directed to decend and maintain 6000 feet. I was about 40 miles from G/S acquisition. I was flying with ASV6 for weather and was in a PMDG 1900D. The altimeter in my 1900D is HG only. Since I was getting baro adjustments from the controller in MB (europe) I was using the "B" key to set the altimeter to the correct setting. The autopilot was on and the alt was set to 6000'. All RC4 settings were default except that I set the radio freq's and answer the controllers commands with VoiceBuddy responses (works great!)On three successive controller warnings (not at 6000') I would reset the altimeter and the autopilot would report me at 6000'…

I'm new to RC4, and love the realistic ATC. Well done to all that helped to develop this.If I would like to manually tune radios, which would take some of the functionality away that is currently displayed / invoked on ADV-Display, would it be possible to do the flight without reference to ADV-Display at all? I realize that various communications from the pilot are represented by numbers on the display- is there a lookup manual that is available that would not require the display to be functional in flight? In other words, how would I use RC4 if I didn't wish to have ADV-Display active on my screen?Thanks- Bruce.

This AM I had an engine failue shortly after takeoff from KCLM on my FSD Piper Cheyenne. I declared emrgency, requested return to KCLM. RC4 directed me to fly a heading to intercept the ILS to rwy 8 and descend and maintain 7000 (I was cleared to 9000). Well and good, but I was at 2000 and climbing very slowly. Due to terrain, I had to deviate from heading and when I was able to resume the heading, I was too close and high, so I declared missed approach. RC4 acknowleged the MA, then directed me to contact Approach. I pressed "1" to acknowledge and contact, but nothing happened. There was no menu option to contact approach. Hello,I am new to Radar Contact, less than ten flights, but am enjoying it greatly, it is a great product. I fly with a PDMG 747-400 another tremendous product. I have one question about the product, I have gone through all of the manulas and such. All seems to work fine. I do notice that when descending on apporach to a dest, and recieving vectors to final, rarely if ever does the controller indicate an air speed to follow.Is this because they are specified in the flightplan I filed ususally a STAR, the type of approach or for some other reason?The flights continue as expected, I was just curious, I expected more speed assignmentsThanks for all the hard work its greatMi…

Hello,I have set up and have been successfully using RC4 via WideFS. Until today!Having done some sorting of AFCAD files, basically removing duplicates and tweaking some with minor errors, I ran the Rebuild Scenery Update after running makerwys on the main pc. makerwys.exe ran as it has before, it only picked up 71 airports and 151 runways. I am certain that last time it found around 2500 airports.I first spotted the problem when flying out of Jersey and there was no ATIS available only FSS.What I have established is that makerwys.exe searches through all the default airports and my Addon Scenery File. In the text file it creates, only the 71 airports it 'captures' show a…

Hi!I've noticed that many european airports have a pre-recorded chatter. Unfortunately it does not happens with the two most important italian airports, Rome Fiumicino and Milan Malpensa at ground, departure or approach. I am having trouble getting ATIS. My comm radio is on and I am tuned to the correct frequency for this station (KCLE). I have tried moving the airplane to a different airport (KCVG) with the same result. I have tried using different airplanes with the same result. I've tried using comm 2 and that doesn't work either. I have the proper frequencies from my set of Jepp approack plates.In the past I have always heard the ATIS automatically,and continually, until I tune to a different comm frequency. Hi JD,Just thought you would like to know that 3.52 version is also causingprobems. Had to declare a medical emergency and return to ABQ. I did get heading assignment but then otto stopped responding to ATC andeventually the menu dissappeared. The only item left in the menu wasRwy 8 info. Also had control problems with the aircraft again. Steepturn to left when flying with FMC, overspeed, would not hold headingagain. Going back to 3.50 as I had 4 consecutive flights with no problems.
