Hello,I am new to using Radar Contact, and look forward to using it, but I have been having a problem trying to do my first flight with it.I am in KBOS trying to go to KLGA, with the default 737 with the panel modified to include the CIVA INS. I am also using ASv6. I load everything up, then start RC4.2, with my flight plan. I am able to get my clearance, etc., but after some time (while I am waiting for the INS's to align), the keyboard ceases to function. I try to hit ALT to get to the menus, but am unable. I try and call ground, but cannot. The mouse works, I can change things on the panel with the mouse, my computer is not frozen, just the keyboard.I do not have this …

So I'm winging my way to KJFK and we're beginning our descent procedure. I'm working from a FS Navigator flight plan that gives me waypoints via airways all the way to LENDY which is 23 mi out.About 40 miles out, the controller starts turning me for vectors to 31L. So I'm doing my turn and then he yells at me and says I'm off the airway, then turns me back the other way. This happens twice until we finally agree and he guides me in for a nice approach to 31L. But my critique was the pits! He chastised me for crossing and heading violations, etc. Is RC reading my FS Navigator plan and I'm supposed to stick to that until the last waypoint? I thought I had to always f…

Hi there,Is it actually common for a commmercial pilot to ask to take off on a runway different from that assigned by ATC? I sometimes use this feature in RC4 when I am assigned a runway that does not work with my filed DP and transition. Essentially, I'm just wondering how "real as it gets" is this situation? Thanks,Alden

This is driving me crazy. The responses in RC4 are very choppy. A word os spoken, then there is pause, then another word, then a pause and so on. There is no smooth flow of communication. What is causing this?I may have to go back to the default ATC.JPS

Hey, don't know if this works for your business model. Will it be possible for you guys to create a network version of RC? I will be glad to pay a few bucks/month (or 40/year) to use RC. A network version of RC has the following benifits.1. Instead of AI, pilots will see everyone else flying in the same environment. Just like Vatsim, except that a lot more planes in the sky.2. Pilots will file their plans through a website. Just like the real thing.3. The server can keep track of who's crashed and how many times. Good for ranking pilots.4. No need for activation on your software.5. Runways/airports can be closed for a period of time due to a virtual accident during take o…

I would like to suggest that as you give bearing to the assigned take-off runway, maybe you could also arrange it so that upon landing, you can get a general bearing to your assigned gate. The 'progressive taxi' in FS9 is very helpful, though not realistic. The 'bearing to gate' feature would be kind of neat as I have gates reserved at most major airports for my own plane. Thanks

I had actually 2 questions:1. Isn't RC supposed to recognize when AI's are near and halt them or halt me to avoid ground conflict? I almost got bowled over by an Air China MD-11 who passed dangerously close and I had been given clearance to push back into his path. Maybe I'm nit picking, but just curious. Good thing I installed a rear view mirror in my A340 LOL! :)2. with regard to the AI Chatter. Do I assume correctly that the AI chatter comes from FS9's ATC and not necessarily RC? I got some chatter through RC enroute Vancouver to Dallas, but much of it was background FS9. No biggie, just wondering.

I just mention this because after many years in avaiation I don't think I've ever heard an example of a controller seriously rollicking an IFR aircaft before.Sure the odd PPL has been admonished for getting it wrong but never an IFR flight. This morning near Manchester UK(EGCC) the weather was very iffy to say the least. Some large CBs were setting off thunderstorms all over the SID routes and most of the southbound outbounds were requesting deviation from route. Most were given but the ATC unit was obviously in some dificulty as it was constantly querying the aircraft as to their intentions. On one occaision an aircraft requested a heading of 120 degrees to avoid weather an…

I am having problems with the attached flight from KIND to KMSP. I included both the .pln and .rc4 because I don't know which would be more useful. Here's the problem: Everything goes fine until I get into my descent and am told to change to Minneapolis ATC on 124.40. Then my FS9 does a CTD and I am told it is caused by ATC.dll.Here is the flight file in .zip format... http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/156862.zipI know this has been addressed on numerous other posts and I have tried everything listed before. I have turned on FS ATC but turned the volume down, added the "RemoveATC=Yes" to my FSUIPC.ini file, and I tried changing the frequency of Indianapolis ATIS. No…

JD,Using the PMDG 747 with VNAV a lot lately, I'm finding it somewhat annoying that I have to take the comms back from OTTO just to get a PD descent request sent, and the fact that I usually have to repeat the request 2 to 7 times to eventually be granted approval.Preferably in v4.3, would you please consider adding a option-checkbox in the controller or general section whereby, if checked, and OTTO has the comms at the T/D, he would automatically request, and immediatly receive, a PD descent? This way, if we have VNAV enabled, and OTTO gets a PD descent, and the MCP-Altitude is set somewhere lower than the current FL, it will automatically begin the descent according to o…

Had an uneventful flight from LAX to Vancouver and at about 60 miles out I was told to expect vectors to 8R. Sounds good to me. However, all AI aircraft were vectored to land at 26R ! I was the only one directed to an eastbound landing. Now I do have a 'star' runway system set up at CYVR so I'm not sure that affects it but it's my understanding that it doesn't. I've checked all my runways and all are open for landing and takeoffs. Had a good landing but what if the AI was directed to 26L ??? eeek! any idears?

On a flight to KDFW I was directed to rwy 17R. The prescribed heading took me very close to the runway at almost a 90 deg angle (I was flying in from the west). I was only allowed about 5 or 6 miles to turn a jumbo 90 degrees to line up. I was almost thinking the controller forgot about me. Maybe I'm not clear how the vectoring works. Is there a way to 'widen the arc' is it were? This kind of approach would have been ok for a Cessna, but a 787 doesn't maneuver quite as nimbly. Still getting used to approaches. They seemed wacky in FS 9 as well. I simple straight into LAX from the east turned into a nearly full circuit down by SLI, then back up and around. I was …

I see a number of sound add-ons listed on AVSIM to add additional chatter, etc. Are these ok? I'm just now getting this to work the way I want. I don't want to screw it up by putting sound files in that cause a problem. The variety would be nice though. Thanks

I made my order on Tuesday, September 19, assuming that I could get RC4 till Saturday and spend a weekend on it. However, it's still not in my mailbox. Hope you could clarify mailing issues. BTW, I live in VAThanks in advance for your helpBest RegardsDmitriy Toropov

I wanted to make sure I'm clear on these.NOTAMS refers to areas with high terrain etc, but it is the airport itself, or an area surrounding. When setting my MSA, what area does that cover? Say like Mexico City MMMX. MMMX sits about 7,000ft but there mountains around it that go to about 11,000. So would my MSA for MMMX be set then for something like 13,000?Thanks

Just wanted to post and let you guys know I am very impressed with RC4. I have been flying with it for about 3 days now and love it! To say it is an improvement over FS ATC is a vast understatment. I love all the little touches that keep popping up to show you guys really put out a quailty product (like the phone call soundfx when calling fss from a uncontrolled field, the way call signs are handled, leaving freq for wx etc.....too many to name).I dont really know how I flew without it all these years. lolI do have a question though. My aircraft of choice is a Van's RV-7A. What would be the RW call sign for this type of a/c? Would it be Van's and the last 3 digits o…

On many of my airports, I have constructed the 'Star runway' system so that most, if not all, runways are in use. Does RC pick up on this? I've only done a couple of flights and both airports had parallel runways. Just curious.

J.D.There appears to be only one standard phraseology for exiting a runway after landing:'Take the next high speed and hold.'Again I recognise the work that is probably involved, but the phrase is misleading as (I would guess the majority) of airports don't have high speed turn-offs.Would it be better to say: 'Exit when able.' or 'Take next taxiway (left/right).'.Regards,NeilYPAD

JD et al,Has there been any movement with RCv4 to make it work with FSX? In beta testing and so forth? I currently run FS9 with RC on a WideFS machine and have learned this moring that ASv6 will work with FSX so now I want RC too. Please tell me there's a way the user can hammer the two together as long as FSCUIPC v4 and WideFSv4 are available. I think Pete Dowson has release beta versions of his utilities so has anyone on the RC team tried it? Thanks in advance for helping us get a head start....Oct 17, tick.. tick.. tick.. :-beerchug

I keep getting the message "Runtime error 76 RadarContact.fsuipc.rcv4code" shortly after take-off, sometimes just before handover to Departure, sometimes just after.I re-installed RC4.2 and it went away, but after a couple of weeks it's back again. Can you suggest a solution please?

Good Morning,I was wondering if anybody has experienced the same problems I am. Since loading Radar Contact I am having a few issues. 1. Once I have started FS2004 and got my level d767 up and running. As per the instructions I then open RC by minimising my screen, selecting start and opening RC. The flight plan and everything loads perfectly but when I try and return to full screen, it refuses to do that and simply freezes up on me. I therefore have to fly my entire flight in a minmised window view which is not ideal. Is there another way to start RC without minimising my screen first and are there any solutions to the problem?2. My pc has never frozen on me when flying …

HiI just downloaded some of Graham Jacksons UK Callsigns but when I check them in radar contact the callsign is wrong. If I select first choice instead of saying JET SET it says First Cambodia.
