Hi,I've now been enjoying RC 4 for quite a while and I'm slowly becoming a better pilot ;-)Still, I have one issue where I'd like to know how it works in real world.If I'm being told by RC's controller to descend/climb to a certain altitude and to turn to a certain heading, I proceed as follows:- Listen to what the controller says- Write down the stuff - acknowledge back to controller- start turning the heading bug and setting the new altitude for the autopilot, but while doing this ... blam!Halfway adjusting heading bug and new altitude, I get scolded by the controller about altitude busting or not maintaining the correct heading.Are they expecting me to turn and climb/d…

I have read through a number of threads regarding runway assignments (both takeoffs and landings) and I understand there is a number of factors involved in runway selection, one of which is the runway(s) being used by AI. The AI that are part of FSX seem to use the runways broadcast by ATIS but I am guessing that AI addons do things their own way so:- Is this conlcusion correct ?- Excluding ATIS, visual cues and listening to aircraft communications, are there any other ways to determine what runway(s) AI are using (takeoffs or landings) ?Thanks,Zach

JD,I haven't used RC4.3 for awhile been flying low and slow.I know at one time if I saved a flight in FSX when I restarted it I also had RC.I can't figure out how I did it.Could you please give me a brief step by step on what I do if I just save it in FS?I read in the manual where I can do this but could not find out how.Thanks for your patience.Ron

Per several posts I had seen, I downloaded the latest version of makerwys.exe (v4.2.9.0) and put it in the FSX root directory. I then started RC and rebuit the scenery database. The utility displayed two message boxes that the rebuild of a4.csv and r4.csv was completed. When I looked at path c:\rcv4x\data (I wanted to see if there were new versions of these files since I ran the utility), the time stamp of a4.csv has today's date and the time I ran the utility but the time stamp of r4.csv is 1/6/2007 11:37 AM....not today's date !Is this a problem ? There are no other rx.csv files in the above path.Thanks again,Zach

I know there is already a topic for V5 but I'm afraid it would be buried. I've started flying overseas to some of the european airports and notice their arrivals (LEMD for example) are all dependent on landing runway. So for one transition point ie ZMR their can be 4-8 different routes to take. In RC4 you must define your route based on weather 8-12 hours before arrival which means wind would have changed and the arrival procedure would be different. Maybe you could put in something similar to departures where you fly from a common point (the transition) and ATC will pick you up normally 40 miles from the airport etc still giving you decending altitudes.Hope this make…

Hi, Does anyone know if ASX (Active Sky X) and Radar Contact conflict. I am ainly concerned with FSUIPC4 4.40 having control of FS weather. I have the unregisted version and I had RC installed. ASX would update weather and then after a few minutes nothing. Random weather gets generated. Finally I reformatted my hardrive and reinstalled everything including FSUIPC4 4.40. This time I did not install RC and ASX works great. No problems. Could the relationship between FSUIPC4 4.40 and RC mess with communication between ASX and FSX? I am running on WIN XP SP 3

I am new to RC so please excuse any questions with obvious answers !At KSDF, received ground clearance to taxi to rwy 35L but no specifics on which taxiways yo use. Is this normal ? How are conflicts with AI prevented ? Currently using native FSX AI, will start using AI addon very soon.Also on a related issue..... are there any FSX settings requirements for Air Traffic Control when using RC ?Thanks,Zach

HI,this evening I requested a full IAP approach to LFPG and it was OK. The procedure involves a situation where, at a certain point, I have to be vectored to final turn (see page 97 of the manual). How do I manage this? I have tried to request vectors but the controller sent me the to the opposite direction and told me to climb FL50. :( Great lost of time for my pax :( Thanks

This may already been posted if so I'm sorry. But sometimes when I try to land and RC vectors me to the runway and when I get about 15 miles out and turn the APP on the aircraft is way off the glidescope. I watch on the map and its like maybe 10 miles off to the left. It does start pulling me down but im not lined up with the runway. Also I tried to land in SFO and RC gave me clearence to land but there was no runway there. I did the makerwy and the scenery in RC but that didnt help any. Any sugestions?

hi,,,anybody have any ideas for me to try.Ive reinstalled Radar Contact 4.3 after installing Vista 64.After installing flight sim i edited Manchester Airport EGCC to have the correct runways.The game has the old runways 6L and 6R,,,,24L and 24R,,,,but EGCC has now changed to 5L 5R 23L 23R,,,,i changed these using flight 1`s airport facilitator.I installed radar contact,,,updated the database,,,and did a flight,,,,i taxiied to runway 5L but all the time radar contact was showing 6L,,,,,what have i missed,,,,any ideas THANKS for readingAndy

Hi,I have checked the option to be hold for weather reasons, but I wonder when I'll be given one. Yesterday, for example, I flew from LFPG to OMDB and arrived through a thunder storm which slammed the aircraft (MD11 PMDG) left and right like a rag doll. I hoped the controller told me to hold somewhere but he cleared me ILS as usual.Is there a specific weather report which trigers the hold from time to time?Thanks

I've been running Radar Contact 4.3 in FSX. I use FS Passengers X and Active Sky Advanced. I have noticed with one or the other running, or both running, that there are sometimes long delays between pressing a button and the voice calling, or a long time in waiting for a response. This is especially bad on final, when I get landing clearance just as my wheels are touching down. Is there a way to force more processing priority to RC4? (I'm assuming this is the problem).Thanks

Hi EveryoneIn the UK barometeric pressure is unstable in winter months and lots of button B is required on a local flight to maintain correct flight levels with auto pilot. Recently on a flight from Heathrow to Manchester, RC after telling me to descend to 12000 ft which I do in good time, decides to give me four warnings that I have not reached 12000 ft and consequently tells me I have not met my crossing restriction and sends me on a long detour to the airport. No matter how many times I press button B after the first flight level warning, I cannot stop RC from giving me the other three warnings and detour etc. Anyone else had this problem? Hi guys,I have ticked in RC options Hold all the time. Now as I understand this, in the real world, you program a hold path over a waypoint into the FMC until the runway is free.How do I recreate this within RC? Is it possible to have alot of planes waiting for a busy airport (eg Heathrow)? Can someone instruct me how to do this, or get as close to this, as possible?Also,Does my SID/STAR have to be programmed into the route before I load the route into RC? How does it recognise a SID/STAR without giving vectors? Hello!I know VISTA is a bit hit and miss at the minute, but i've managed to get Radar Contact working on a previous occasion.I've got the latest patch and have installed the latest version of FSUIPC from Peter's website. I've also registered all the .OCX files without any problems.The problem starts when I press 'start RC' I keep getting the message 'IPC timed out all retries'. I've posted a similar message on Peter's forum and he suggested installing FS in a directory outside Programme Files. I've done this but am still receiving this message.I've got all my other add-ons to work including programmes that need FSUIPC, but RC is having problems! Any ideas please?Many than…

Hey jd, I am a long time RC user and I wanted to say thanks for creating this excellent program for use with FSX. I use RC4.3x with FS2Crew, and both programs have the copilot callout "altimeter check" at the same time when passing thru the transition level. I want to disable the "altimeter check" call in RC4, but I cant figure out how to do it. Is there any way to do this?Thanks,Gary

Hello friends,I have been experiencing a problem in the final approach for SBRJ - Santos Dumont airport (Rio de Janeiro). The problem happens when I choose the VOR/DME procedure for runway 02R. According to this procedure, you fly a "kind of" downwind - almost parallel to runway -, then, after stablishing visual contact with the runway, you fly a very short base and final (less than 2 miles from the runway). It is arguably one of the most difficult approaches worldwide, with mountains nearby. Apologies if this has been asked before, but I couldn't find any reference to this specific issue following a search.Whenever I fly into VHHX runway 13 using an instrument approach via the IGS; approach does not transfer me to the tower until I'm lined up with the runway which is too late.
