I posted this in the general FLY forum but maybe more appropriate here:Is it still possible to do terrascenery for the original Fly! 2k? What version do I need to do this? I remember reading something about the web address changing for the LAND USE files or something a long those lines and that the older version of terrascene doesn't work with FLY2k anymore. I can't find anything about using terrascene with FLY2k though and before I DL gb of stuff I wondered if anyone knew what I need.I have both FLY2 and FLY2k but like FLY2k better - it runs much better on my computer.please helpI looked all over for the Texture Packs for the original Terrascene 2.0 but can't find them a…

Hi,Below is an aerial view of Barbers Point Naval Air Station on the island of Oahu. This and several other airports have runways that don't match up with the scenery I'd like to release. I'm still learning how best do that but with this airport in particular I've got a problem--mainly it doesn't seem to exist in the Fly! database even though its got runways. I think the airport may have been closed by the military a few years ago (1999) but the runways are still there in Fly! 2 and in the aerial photo I'm using -- so how do I tell Fly! to relocate the runways if it doesn't know the airports name? Or am I missing something? Thanks for any help.Don

I've uploaded version 2 of the gxx.trn files for globe tile 199160. I was annoyed at some of the momentary gaps that opened and closed near the Kunzua dam at the Allegheny Res. I was able to eliminate two of these. A third I nearly eliminated and moved also moved below the water line of the reservoir so its less noticeable with a water mask. I also finished flattening the Clarion river and two other branch streams, and did some additional flattening of water near the dam and across in a bay of the reservoir.A number of people have downloaded my original version of d199160, which flattens the Allegheny R and Res and part of the Clarion R. In the past I have generated quite a few global tiles using the old Terrascene 2 program. I kept all the data files that were downloaded from USGS. Having recently dusted off my FlyII program I decided to recreate the global tiles previously created. I downloaded and installed the new Terrascene 2.1 program, the Fly2slicer, and commenced the recreation. The first quarter tile completed with no errors, however since I have some 768 megs of memory on this machine I amended the Terrascene.lax file to use 512m of memory and the number of segments to 8000. After these changes the next quarter tile got to the slice stage and then came up with the error message CSimpleModel::loa…

In Fly!11 TRI kindly gave us 3 'models' for London, 'Buckingham Palace', 'Tower Bridge' and 'the Houses of Parliament'. All 3 incorrectly appear on the 'wrong' side of that dreaded 'meridian' line that causes so much grief in Fly!Just fly east from London City and you will see them sitting lonely in the landscape.I would like to move them into their correct locations now that we have some London scenery to fit them in, ie 'Heathrow Zone'.How do we do that? After bulding my home airport ( MMCS ) I added 2 or 3 Trucks ( The Gas Truck and the other one ) that suppose to move thru the path I set for each one. Well I can't make them move at all, if I taxi the Airplane at the Ramp where I suppose to see all kind of ground traffic all I can see is a static Gas Truck that will not go to anywhere.Does any one have a reference to a tutorial or some link where I can learn how to build Dynamic sceneries ?Thanks!Javier

Is there any other reason to not put a real Photo of the Airplane on the UI ICON other than the permission needed from the Photo Author?I got my 727 finally fixed from the nose, it looks great, and I just added a photo on the UI ICON.. looks even better. I got the photos from Airliners.net and I think I got the name and e-mail from the photo's author, I think all I need to do is just get his permission to use the photo on my Freeware, right?Can I get your advise on this please?BTW: The Airlines are all Mexican and I haven't found any restriction from them to not use their logos for these matters, as long as I don't make any profit.Take Care.Javier

Hi all,Just posted TerraShape v1.2b on my site.There are just a few new things and some of the old routines have been tidied up a bit.Most importantly, TerraShape now handles the ponetp file correctly and will enable the editing of coastlines with offshore islands.Islands were not correctly handled in the previous version.There is an addition to the manual included in the zip.TerraShape is on My Hangar Site now.Colin

Is there any reference ( link ) or tutorial to learn how to build Static models? I would like to add local Airlines to my home town airport.Also, how can I create the PBM icon for my repainted airplanes? What type of program do I need? I do have Image Composer ( Microsoft ) but I can't save the image with PBM extension.Thanks in advance.

First of all, thanks to Harald for the ZModeler tutorial.I've been to my local airport taking pictures of the terminal building to make textures. But I'm encountering problems when I try to import the model after exporting it, as per Harald's tutorial. I get this error message: "Error importing/exporting file: terminal.RAW Possibly caused by: Missing this file or according PAL/ACT file."The .bmp is 512x512, 256 color. I've used the FlyRawGUI to make the .raw and .act-files. I don't have this problem with the hangar.bmp that was provided with the tutorial.Is there something I'm missing or not doing right?John IvanENHD

Tonight (MEZ) I uploaded V1.1 of my Zmodeler tutorial. Changes are:1) Use of the material editor. You do not need to export/import your model as .bin-file to see a texture in the UV-Mapper2.) how to use Background pictures to find the right proportions of a building3.) A workaround for the error message when importing SMF-Files.Make sure, you have the newest Zmodeler from 31. Aug. 2002. There are different versions 1.06f avaiable with different dates. In the zmodeler download section you always get the newest one.Harald

I am trying to generate scenery for The Whitsunday Islands, off the Queensland coast of Australia.When I download the shapefiles from the ESRI map,The Whitsundays are show, including Hamilton Is. with it's airport.When I launch TS to create a new project,i.e."Whitsundays" TS does not recognise Hamilton Is.airport(YBHM) although it is in the data base of FLY!11If I use Proserpine(YBPN) with 150 mile radius,The Whitsundays do not appear on the TS map.QUESTION.How do I make the Whitsundays, that were shown on the ESRI map appear?Any help would be appreciated.Rodger Buckley.

I`m VERY stuck here. How do I form the blue skylight to the top of the curved roof? I need 9 of them on the rooftop. I`ve tried Face Extrude, Booleans/ShapeMerge and many other things no no avail...And I have to finish this building till Monday...So I am asking here instead of waisting another bunch of hours on this.

I've come across problems updating the country databases.The only way I know of to do the updating, is via FlyEdit. I import the dex. I create a custom index for cnam called CTRYNAME.DBI, and one for cuid called COUNTRY.DBI. All appears to work ok as long as the files remain in Database folder. When I repod via a response file...DatabaseCOUNTRY.DBDDatabaseCOUNTRY.DBIDatabaseCOUNTRY.DBTDatabaseCTRYNAME.DBIDatabaseSTATCTRY.DBIDatabaseSTATE.DBDDatabaseSTATE.DBIDatabaseSTATE.DBTDatabaseSTATNAME.DBII can no longer use the flight planner. It crashes with an error in unknown (if I remember right).Anyone have ideas as to what Im missing? What I could try? Why it would work…

C4TO is, in my opinion, one of the better add-ons created for Fly!2. Yet the program, as good as it is, is still limited. Repeated requests to the developer have fallen on deaf ears - he appears to be resigned not to continue this Fly!2 project.I'm not a developer in any sense. So I have no appreciation for the complexity of my request. But here it is.I'd like to suggest someone (or a group) undertake a new ATC project that would interface with Fly!2's default ATC system. The new program would use Fly's ATC menu's along with auto-tune capabilities, as well as the direct-tuned radios (something C4TO ignores). I miss some texures in the Terrascene 2.1 texture pack. I badly need some rock textures and other stuff special to my country...How can I make some? I have a good digital camera that can take 12MB Tiffs if I need to. I just wonder what resolution an colour depth the final picture should have, and which size?And, approx. which pixel resolution would I end up with, is it possible to get close to 7,5m/pixel?

How do I make the hold short markings on taxiways? Do I have to use the ground marking feature of Terramodels, or is there another way?John IvanENHD
