The FLY General Discussion Forum
The General Discussion forum for the TRI series of FLY Simulators.
| Richard Harvey Lake Tahoe September, 2002 | This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.
At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.
Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"
Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."
We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums! |

Hello;Somewhere in a previous post, it was mentioned that you could put terrascenes on a second hard drive, change the "Searchotherdrives=0" to "1" in the UI section of fly.ini, and you might see higher FPS. I can't seem to locate the post now.I tried this today, placing socal.scf, socal.pod and socald.pod on my slave drive, changed the fly.ini and no luck. So I tried various things such as identical directory paths to get to the files on both drives, placing the files in the shared folder on slave drive, placing files in root directory of slave, etc. Only seems to work in my original folder on the master drive.Anybody have any experience with this? :-zhelp ThanksRobert

Hi Chris,It looks like you still have the FlyScripts! version of C4TO still installed. You definitely need to remove it. This file can be found in the FlyScripts! folder. It is called c4tov20.fse. Remove this file!Otherwise, if you have FlyScripts! running with c4tov20.fse, the C4TOv3.dll will fight with FlyScripts! over key intercepts, and well, you've seen what happens. You should also remove atccfg.fsc and atccfg.fse while you're at it. Things should go a bit smoother after that point.Hope this helps.Cheers, Tony

Hey, I like it! I always wondered why there are no repaints of the default aircraft. All I fly anymore is the cessna, I kinda like it. And its a bit more realistic for me to fly. Since its probably the only plane I would ever get a chance to. Hehe.

How does one add landig gears to some of these dynamic planes that taxi around the aiport? It's not that they are sitting low on the tarmac: they simply lack the landing wheels. thanks.tony

All the best to you Tom.Hope to see you soon as a regular here at the Fly!II forum.Regards, Steve.http://mysite.freeserve.com/fly2theuk/aragon.JPGUnited Kingdom Sceneryhttp://ftp.avsim.com/library/search.php?Se...y2tms&Go=SearchRepaintshttp://ftp.avsim.com/library/search.php?Se...y2Air&Go=SearchOther fileshttp://ftp.avsim.com/library/search.php?Se...2Misc&Go=Search

Your examples on how to add fs flight plans is wonderful. But do we need a full installation of fs2002? can I simply create a folder for fs2002? I have fs2002, but I removed since I rarely fly its planes.thanks.tony

Hi Jeff,I don't know what the fix is for the Map problem you've noticed. (Same situation on my system also.) I have a question for you though. Is Hicks Airfield an airport that you (real world) fly out of? The reason I ask is because that's where I did most of my Private Pilot training before coming to school full-time here in Oklahoma ...Part 141.Blake

Just beautiful, Leen. I'm really impressed by this hocus pocus technique. You and Frederic have done some fine work. Can this technique be applied to other aircraft? I'm wondering if it would solve problems I've had repainting the Flyhawk when the same texture is used on more than one part. For example, I can't put registration numbers on one wing only because the same texture is used for both wings. Would MTHP help solve this?

Hello Dave!I think it will not be possible, not because the lack of talent , In this Forum there are Artists! very Talented people knowing what their are doing... but because they know what they do, if somebody converts that particular airplane from Abacus Corporate and shares the airplane he/she would be breaking Copy Right laws and could be in trouble.Just as it happens with the Payware Scenery Add on that we can convert to FLY but not share to the public. But don't loose hope, maybe somebody could start the airplane for FLY II form Scratch. Or there could be a FSIMP for FS2000 Planes, where you could convert airplanes but not share them.Keep Fishing and you might get l…

Sorry folks. It appears I was too subtle ... no one seems to be getting the joke (with the possible exception of rodger, and I'm not even sure about him). And here I thought I was being far too obvious, if anything. It was my first try at an April Fools joke, and I guess I don't know how to do it right. The first clue was right in the subject line ... i.e., the version number. Perhaps this is more easily spotted by international simmers, those who normally spell out dates with the day shown before the month (1.4.03 = April 1st, 2003). I left out the second period because I figured that would make it TOO obvious. The first feature item was just supposed to make you go "…

I spent the afternoon this past Sunday at the Cradle of Aviation Museum in Long Island. It is located on the former Mitchell Field (place where Lindbergh took off on his flight to Paris). They had a full-size Convair 340 cockpit and I thought you'd all enjoy some photos. Here is a link to an exterior photo] from Airliners.net so you see what the plane is. The attached pix are what I took this past Sunday -- note the professional pilot demonstrating the controls in the last picture :-)This would be a really nice bird to create for Fly!2: Twin prop passenger plane from the 50's. With these photos of the cockpit (which I would be happy to share with an aircraft designer -- t…

ChrisTerraScene has found a problem in some of your data. You could try re-downloading the data and see if that works. You can also check the tsout.txt file to find the offending data file and delete it and then search manually for a replacement.Colin
