The FLY General Discussion Forum
The General Discussion forum for the TRI series of FLY Simulators.
| Richard Harvey Lake Tahoe September, 2002 | This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.
At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.
Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"
Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."
We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums! |

Long story short: The Flyhawk compass is backwards.I know updating is supposed to fix this, but it there some secret order in which to install? Also, as a few nitpicks, Fly! won't recognize my rudder pedals as being centered; I'm using the CH Pro Pedals (non-usb).I can't seem to get the autopilot to work right; the aircraft all seem to want to bank uncontrollably.Any help appreciated.Andrew

Anyone have a custom GF4 Ti 4200 128MB render.ini file they'd care to share with me? I'm pretty sure Fly!II isn't taking full advantage of my video card with the stock render.ini file I'm using and would like to spruce things up a bit.thanks,Max Cowgill

Well, after a full HD reformat and reinstallation of Windows 2000, I was finally able to get Fly! II installed and patched to version 240. I can't wait to start using this sim! I've been a long-time MSFS user (almost 10 years now) and I look forward to using a different GA sim for the first time in awhile. I purchased the original Fly! when it was released but never really got into it and have also tried the X-plane demo through a few releases but never bothered actually purchasing the full version of the program. I'm eager to start fly!ing but have a few questions before I do. Are there any live weather utilities available for Fly! II, like the built-in real weather…

I have noticed that the KMA audio panel in the Flyhawk and Pilatus work fine but the same instrument used in the Malibu and Navajo (also used in the TBM) won't allow switching to a different mic source. Is there a fix posted somewhere or is there a way to fix it myself. I am going online to look for a panel modifying program compatible with FlyII after writing this. Thanks in advance... I'm really loving this program! Downloaded and tried out C4TO lastnight, so far very nice.Zane

Hi Folks,Am wondering if the "fly world" is (out of the box) a "waterworld"? I bought the first Fly! and patched it to version 1.01.87. When I try to start a flight departing from Shelton,Wa(Sanderson-SHN), destination Bremerton, Wa(Bremerton-PWT); my aircraft is dropped in water. Flying out of scenarios provided on the CD, like Chicago, I'm on land and everythings fine. From the cd, is there only a small amount of "land" and I need to either download a pod or create my own to have terrafirma in areas outside of those I see in the menu?I searched your faq and tips post here and haven't seen anything on this. Thanks,Jim B.

G'Day!I fly all the times with Fly!2K and I search a nice Boeing 737. I mean the Boeing from PMDG/wilco is the best. My question: It's true, that it only available by download or it's also possible to by an CD-ROM? If "yes" from which link or adres? Is this 737 reaaly so good? Please let me know Your opinions. Thanks a lotgreetingsmare

Just bought a Dell 4554 system with a 3.6 MHz cpu and 1 gig ram, with the Radeon 9700tx videocard in it. After installing only the basic Fly II, no patches. I noticed the colors are like a rainbow. After some tweaking I got them much better but still wayoff. Is this a factor of the 9700 card. No such trouble with the Nvida cards card I had. Is there a fix for this? I would appreciate any help I can get so I can get back to using my favorite Flight Sim. Does anyone have INI settings that will work with this card? I'm having no problems with any other programs. Hello,I have been flying Fly!2 for a couple of months now. Generally I am very impressed by Fly!2, the instrument panels, the scenery editor and lots of stuff. I have bought PMDG's Boeing 777. Am I impressed?! Yes! The flight management computer is very well done and it is thrilling to get the feeling of flying a real, modern glass cockpit heavy airliner. There is however one thing that has made me slightly dissapointed and that is the flight characteristics, especially the roll rate. I use CH USB yoke and pedals when I fly Fly!2 and I have calibrated the controls several times. I have also done some experimenting with different exponential settings for roll, pitch and rud…

Currently I am using the modification to add the KLN89 to the King Air panel. I was wondering if anyone knew of or was working on a FMC as is used in the real aircraft that would be located on the lower panel next to the autopilot (see current sales brochure at Raytheon). So far my searches on flightsim and avsim, including forums show nothing. Also the RMI indicator in the King Air has the switches reversed, any fixes?Thanx,Zane

I read this forum several times a day to look for anything new happening with Fly!II. So now its my turn to share my project with you. As some of you know, I've been working on the Lancair Columbia 300 for quite some time now. This is a high-performance, single-engine piston aircraft. Its the same aircraft Eric Lindbergh flew in a commemorative flight for his grandfather's Spirit of St Louis trans-atlantic flight. I think its going to be a great, unique GA aircraft and a fun addition to Fly!II. I've been too busy to do it, but recently I lost my job, so I've had some extra time to get back to work. Also, Jarno Deken volunteered to do the external model and has done…

I realize that the final file format for objects in Fly!2 is .smf, but, is there a way to import this object format for editing in ANY program?

Hello, I haven't used FlyII in a while but I thought with the newer version of C4TO available I'd give it a try. After installing the version 3 and related patches I compiled a flightplan using FS Build and fired up FLyII. I started the ATC session by using ALT-F and it confirmed that a new session was starting. I then used auto tune to change the frequency and it did change. When I hit ALT-C to check in I get no response. No static or anything. Has anyone seen this before? Am i missing something very basic? Any help would be appreciated.Regards,Mike W
