Richard Harvey

Lake Tahoe

September, 2002

This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.

At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.

Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"

Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."

We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums!

  8. We have now finished our run down the Ohio River with the addition of two more global tile scenery packs. The Huntington tile centers on Huntington, West Virginia and runs to the west just shy of Portsmouth, OH. The Maysville tile centers on Maysville, KY, finally joining all segments of the Ohio River. Here's how it all looks right now, with just two tiles to go on the NW border: http://forums.avsim.com/user_files/7259.gif Screenshots from the tiles have been posted on the Screenshot forum:http://forums.avsim.com/dcboard.php?az=sho..._id=41803&page=Both TerraScene packs should be available within 24 hours.

Wayne,For some time now I've enjoyed the "fruits" of your efforts in enhancing numerous airports for Fly II. Can't tell you how much more enjoyable the sim is with populated airports to arrive at and depart from. A request, sometime in the future could you work your magic on KCHS, KSAV, and KSTP?Thanks again for your contributions to the hobby.Jim

Flying to your airports is a marvel. I am afraid you've been nominated by the FLy2 community to populate all of the 5000 or so aiports in the USA before we get you to the world. Fortunately, FSimport will assist you with those. Keep up the good work, and I like the idea of you working your way down to Mass and RI. I fly the b1900 as a commuter airliner and these airports have been particularily fun. Just landed in Manchester,NHtony

Hello to all. I believe that Lefteris had created an application to use B757-200 with MCP of Aerosoft Australia. Would I be possible somebody to indicate where I can find it? Another question: I am looking for FSimport but I don't find it in AVSIM. Is somebody able to me to indicate their exact name or to tell me where it can be? Thank you to all for your help. BUT IT STILL DOES NOT WORK!!!!!I went through the instruktion manuel and everything seems so perfect about the plane! I just wish I could use it!If some serious investigation were to go into this, I am sure a solution would soon be found. I am sure that I am not the only one who is having problems with this.

From some of the threads, some of you can see that getting going with AI is a little daunting. Like some many new things, however, things appear more difficult than they are. My attmpts to getting comfortable with AI would have failed if it had not been for Laurent's prompt and patient hand holding. Now, however, I have mastered the tool and can say that having flight plans in which planes depart and land at the airport of choice is fantastic. Moreover, I've been using AI Manager, a fs2002 flight planning tool that makes creating flight plans for FLY2 simple. You simply pick your departure and arrival airport and it will calculate times, schedules, save and compile the fl…

Hello, after putting in a couple hundred hours of flight time on the FLY! II - Hawker, I've put together the following list of quirks, questions and comments and would appreciate any answers and/or confirmations on each if possible.1. Last night I setup a flight plan from KRDU, NC to KATL, GA and used the "Generate Route" button in the stock Fly Flight Planner after starting FLY with my Hawker at BGR, ME. I then started my flight using the "Start Flight Plan" button, adjusted fuel quantity and cranked up the Hawker. When I powered on the FMC's, both screens went through the normal tests until they got to the initial screen with "Accept". I click on "Accept" button and the…

Hi,I would like to know if anybody here runs Fly! II with ATI 9700/PRO videocard using antialiasing and anisotropic filters turned on, and how about the final performance (specially when fly!ing through the clouds)? I'm thinking to change my Gforce4 Ti4600 for anything faster and read that ATI's card has amazing speed with those options enabled.Thank you,Keyton Cabral

Hi,I have installed both Lyon airports that I found on Simvol site. Unfortunately, when I teleport to either of them, an error appears, saying that (I don't) remember exactly) "lamp.dll" is missing, or sth like that. I installed all the add-ons mentioned in the readme files. Apparently there is still something missing. Does anybody knows what it is ?

Hello everyone!I have downloaded some airport sceneries from SIMVOL lately. I must say the guys made some really grat stuff there. The airports are beautiful. Many of them consist only from two files copied to the scenery directory. What is more, they are not framerate killers! Those sceneries are really great. I happened to visit Cote d'Azur airport (Nice). And... surprise. The runways are on the water! I have never been to Nice but I really doubt it is so in real life. I am not sure but I suppose it was so in the original Fly! 2 scenery. Is there any cure for that ?
