The FLY General Discussion Forum
The General Discussion forum for the TRI series of FLY Simulators.
| Richard Harvey Lake Tahoe September, 2002 | This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.
At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.
Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"
Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."
We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums! |

I know this has been covered before but can't remember the solution.I am using Ch Pro Pedals and I have the brakes working ok in FS9. When I try to set them up and use them in Fly II the brakes are on at all times and can't be released. Can anyone tell me how to set them up in Fly II so that they will work normally? Thanks.Jim

We made a $100.00 hamburger run from Harrison, Ohio (I67) to Frankfort, Kentucky (KFFT) the other day so here are a few pics. Aurora, Indiana with Hogan Creek running off of the Ohio River and Laugherty Island in the top of the pic. The river is the western border of one level of CVG's class B airspace, the side I'm on varies from 3500' to 5000' on the lower end up to 10k, the other side of the river the lower end drops to 2100'. http://bartsflyplace.tripod.com/fft/Dcp_0004.jpg Climbing up to 4500' to get above the thick blueish/grey line on the horizon or as we've come to call it "the bumpy layer line". Below it is the bumpy turbulent air, above it, smooth as glass.…

G'day All,Well it certainly seems to be a lot more stable using this latest driver, my firewall (zone alarm) will cause a dump to desktop when it throws up an alert warning ( this feature can however be switched off ) but it doesn't crash Fly! II ( just minimises it ) and a simple click of the mouse has Fly! II up and running again.BUT ........for me there is a price to pay using this driver.1. Who turned out the lights? Landing and taxi-lights no longer throw a nice beam as they did before. Now it is almost impossible to tell from within the cockpit whether they are on or off. The exterior view shows the faintest of faint beam. A bit like the VW car with 6V electrics.…

I was one year ago today, on March 13, 2003, that our friend Rich Harvey was taken from us. People often speak of "losing" the battle with cancer but that was definitely not the case with Rich...although the cancer took his body, it never, ever defeated him. I like to think that he still looks in on us from time to time, lurking on the forum and smiling when he sees the latest wonderful creations being made by the community that he started and fostered. If you feel inclined to do so, please post a follow up with a favourite memory, or a screenshot of your favourite Fly! or Fly! II experience...or just take a private moment to remember Rich. Thanks.Chris WallaceOttawa,…

install the King Air/Staggerwing ascent rate gauge with the little yellow bug into the PA-28 or 172? I enjoy flying those planes but keeping them at a consistant altitude is a pain. Also, how would one up the horsepower in the Staggerwing to the Wasp Jr 450 hp rating? Grumman Goose anyone? heheheThanks,JamesHmmm... Tastes Like Chicken!

Hello everyone. My name is Pieter Miller and I a putting together a little presentation about flight simulation for a local flying club here in Hutchinson. I was hoping that some people here might have some screen shots of Fly!, Fly!2k or Fly!II that they would be willing to send to me and let me use in a Powerpoint presentation. I've been an avid Fly! series fan and still consider it my "favorite" sim. I'm pretty lousy at screen shots, so I thought I might ask for some here. My presentation will be using shots from several different sims, but I generally use Fly! as my basis for comparing panel fidelity in modern flight simulations. So, if anyone could help me out,…

G'day all,I just downloaded and installed the 56.64 Nvidia drivers. I'm using an FX-5900 card. I can't say that there is a huge increase in FPS but it did solve my problem of the computer hanging on the windows splash screen on shutdown and so far (touch wood) I haven't been able to force a CTD. I hope I'm not speaking too soon on about the latter. :-) Cheers,Roger @YSSY

Hi,I'm author of Boeing 737 Fuel Planner - http://www.volny.cz/fs2002/B737FPL/B737FPL.htm . This planner version 1.1. is usable for types -300, -400, -500, -700, -800 and -900. Many people wish to update planner for types -200 and -600... I would like to do it, but I have not fuel flow data for -200 and -600 and I can't find them anywhere. Does anybody has requested data or ability to obtain them ? My e-mail is [email protected] a lot and happy landing....m

Wayne,Your TMADU scenery POD and SCF file for the recently uploaded Audubon County Airport KADU Iowa has the same name as the POD and SCF file for Unalaska Airport-Dutch Harbor PADU (tmadu 136566 .zip and tmadu.zip).They are, however, different sizes and obviously aren't the same. What should one do to extract and install both as one set will overwrite the other? Renaming the files will prevent this but I wonder if you have had any thoughts about alternate names? Thanks for all the airports, this is the only trouble I've had.:-beerchug

Just got a new puter and am trying to install Fly II and related patches. After the basic install from disk, I attempted to install patch 210. I get a message saying I have insufficient storage space to apply patch. I have approx 90 GB of hard drive space left so I know this is enough. I uninstalled Fly II, reinstalled, and tried the patch again. Same results. I didn't have this problem on my old computer. Any ideas? Thanks.Jim

Until a few days ago, I had an amd 2100 overclocked to 2050 mhz and a geforce fx5600 256 meg. In overcast conditions, autogen, and some panels I would get into the 18 fps or so. NOt bad. Well, the other day I received my amd mobile 2500 , which cost me only $100.00 from Newegg. This cpu can be overclocked to incredible heights. In fact I've got it at 2350 mhz, and all of a sudden FLY2 is perfect. I can fly in any condition, with great fps. We're close to giving FLY2 what it needed! At last, things are looking good.tony
