The FLY General Discussion Forum
The General Discussion forum for the TRI series of FLY Simulators.
| Richard Harvey Lake Tahoe September, 2002 | This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.
At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.
Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"
Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."
We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums! |

As you all know about my website and space project blaaa blaaa blaaa, here are a few pictures. I came in the top 10 of Awards for the whole of Wales, and was told by Wendy Williams, Chair of the Grants Advisory Panel "This was felt to be one of our most innovative projects." Each one of the panel came up to me after the Awards, and I descovered not one held back from backing my project. Tom Jones OBE talked to me later about how I could get more backing and money to further my project. Each of us were given a memento of a Crystal ornament with the Millennium Awards Logo in it. These were presented by Edwina Heart AM, Minister for Social Justice and Regeneration. At the Wels…

It's been a while since I flew the Peregrine and today when going throught the start up routine I encountered a problem that I'm sure has a simple explanation, but is beyond me at this point. After bringing the APU on line and turning on the the flight displays I'm not able to close the generators and bus after starting the engines to keep the flight displays on when I power off the APU, the flight dislplays go off and the master warning comes on when the engines are at idle. It's really strange but the only way to keep the flight displays on is to either add power to the engines and the generator lights on the overhead panel dissappear and the flight displays come back on…

As mentioned in the title line the question I have in in relaatio to the Defualt King Air 350 (I did add Lizzrados ((I hope I spelled ok, my bad if not)) fix to all the defualts as well as the many add ons he has so kindly sharred with us), and the Lear comparable in the following example:Lets say you have the defualt King Air 350 and the same Lear with the mentioned fix, and also apple to apple W/O any fix.OK, can you adjust the fuel and payload weight in the two planes to "bare mins" (ie... say 20 percent in both fuel and cargo (((I also mean two people, for the pickers out there, (LOL), oh ya the weight of the two people I am experimenting with is 180 each,))).So you…

Currently in the technology news, the open source model is receiving a great deal of positive publicity and results. Having decided to use Mozilla as of late, I've really seen the quality of results that an open source project can mean.I know there's an open source flight simulator out there, FlightGear, but it seems that it lacks in some of the areas that Fly excels, particularly in graphical user interface, quality of panels, lighting, etc. I'm wondering whether or not Fly (or more appropriately, the community) could evolve and benefit as an open source project? Of course, I have no realization of the "ties that bind" Terminal Reality with prior publishers, etc... bu…

Hi folks,Yesterday I took place in a lovely Schleicher ASH-25 glider. It was situated ona a grass-strip somewhere in Ireland near Dublin. After asking for a tow, a funny red-checkered Cessna 172 turned in front of me and after a short moment we ware rolling and went up-tothe air.Slowly getting some altitude I had a great view over the nice Irish hills and the old workhorse doing his towing-job.Then I let go the cable and used my instruments to find some thermalsafter a few minutes I found the magic cloud which lifted my higher and higher.Another cloud gave me a helping hand to get some more hight and after a short hour I returned to the grass again.Did I really have this gr…

Well I got hit by a nasty virus this time. Had to throw away my hard drive as no one could get it going again, sadly the work I backed up I lost too. All my models have gone :-( The CDR I backed them up on is faulty. Tonight I started all over again. Anyway, they were not that good. Now I will finish rambling on and carry on playing ;-) SteveMy Websitehttp://www.wrexhamspace.orghttp://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/ysomdesign/banner.jpg

G'day all,After having modified the pnl file so that the copilots DG could be adjusted, (the pilots is slaved to flux valve), I was just doing a check flight in the Malibu (Sahara) and noticed that the copilots ASI was under reading by 17 kts ! (@ 100 Kts on pilots ASI). With the cursor over the instrument the grey box reading is correct but the instrument pointer is only showing 83 kts. I deleted all *.hst files and rebooted Fly! with the same result.Checked the Kodiak and King Air; no problems.Does anyone know anything about this? .... or is it just me??Cheers,Roger @YSSY

I noticed yesterday that I loaded a METAR with the barometric pressure at 30.21. When I set that on the Kolsman Knob (Altitude adjustment), it incorrectly reported the altitude for my airfield. It turns out that the altitude is only correct when set to standard pressure (29.92). Does anyone know if barometric pressure changes "work" in Fly!2? Are they linked to the weather settings and METAR imports? Thanks everyone...Dan Larson

Hi Everyone,I'm interested in knowing which aircraft you actually use in FLYII (Which ones you fly frequently). Is it any of FlyII's default aircraft, or a 3rd party aircraft perhaps!!Which do you prefer and why?

Hi Guys,Last months my FLY has been growing. All those new repaints made my arcraft-list very long.Today I discovered the Perrigrine been gone from the list.I extracted the TRI4.nfo from the TRI4.pod placed in the world folder and the Perrigrine cam back in the aircraft list. Now I removed the nfo file from the world folder again and thePerrigrine( Hawker ) disappeared again. Then I removed some repaints. Now the Hawker was there again. My question is.Is there a maximum for the number of planes and can we change this maximum to a higer one.RegardsLeen
