The FLY General Discussion Forum
The General Discussion forum for the TRI series of FLY Simulators.
| Richard Harvey Lake Tahoe September, 2002 | This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.
At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.
Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"
Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."
We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums! |

G'day all,I've finally got around to uploading my repaint of the Eurocopter Dauphin in the Aero livery. Sorry I can't provide a link (don't know how) but it is ready in the Library. Thanks to F2FDesign for work put in to giving us such a detailed working model and allowing repaints.Alex and Leen kindly did some beta testing and gave invaluable feedback. It is my inexperience with using Photoshop that limits my not being able to do all the fine tuning corrections suggested. This is not a pristine show pony. This is an aging working helicopter and shows all the signs of a hard life. :-) EnjoyCheers,Roger @YSSY

Your clarkhill scenery addition is very well done. It is possible to follow the lake along the South Carolina and Georgia border. We now need some airports along that lake.

Hello Fly!ers,We decided to gather all skills of our team and to optimize the use of all existing tools. So, we created a new heading proposing a perfection of the flights preparation with Fly!We created these pages so that the virtual pilots who wish to fly closer to the reality find practical and useful advices to prepare meticulously their flights; so we especially privileged detailed examples, to give each one the desire "to fly differently".Main subjects* The documentation* VolNav* The on-board navigation tools in Fly!

Hi folks,Since a few years I am doing (re)-paints.As we all know there are various systems of repainting and each system has its own advantages. One system, the copy and paste method ,using photos from the real thing is used by most repainters. There is nothing wrong with that, but is has a terrible side-effect.Almost all planes repainted this way have dark or almost black belly`s.We see this on repaints for FLY and other simulations, like MSFS.All those pictures used are taken from the planes standing in daylight having a shadowy underside.Using these pictures give us planes in our simulator with darkfuselage-undersides.We all know that when there is a striping or texture …

After the initial problems to connect to VATSIM, today I have done a complete flight LEBL LEZL, and I pass to narrate the following observations:When I connect, the altimeter is not updated, rather Waether is necessary to go to the menu, and selecting the pressure that appears in the Metar.Already in flight of cruiser, every time that the Metar, the altimeter are updated he varies, and getting to such extreme, that the ATC has indicated me that deFL350, that the planned was flew to FL360 instead.I have noticed that winds aloft were void, thing that I am surprised at, because, although meteorology was very good, I believe that he be supposed to have to FL350 a certain am…

G'day all,Just finished a repaint of the Dauphin as Aero 5N-BFP. It wound up being 8.4 Mb :-eek but zips up to 2.2 Mb. :-) I'm looking for anyone interested in beta testing for me before I upload to the library. If you are interested then send me an email and I'll email it back to [email protected] extract the pod file into your aircraft folder and you are ready to start.NOTE....To get the pod to work you must either make it your default startup aircraft OR start with any aircraft (OTHER THAN THE ORIGINAL F2FD DAUPHIN ) and change to the Eurocopter AS365 dauphin in the aircraft menu. As always, being only a repaint you must have the original Eurocopter AS365N2 O…

At my last attempt to load the Dauphin twice, I finally had an error message :"Subsystem is not registered (WIPR)"It seems that the wiper system can't be implement twice from the DLL (if the DLL manage the wiper ?)I think I could debug that for you if Laurent is not available. If you are interested, just send me the sources by e-mail.Roland

Hi folks,Doing an overall-repaint and keep the original structure (texture) visible. Is`t a challengeI cannot withstand. So, here`s a full-camouflage livery.I did not really paint , I did more some color-manipulation.No paste and copy from photos was used. Thanks to Jan for giving me the opportunity to experiment withthe "Ducknose" acm/tif.Still a lot to do on it.RegardsLeen " Flybike " de Jager ( ROTW )http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/79428.jpg

Fellow Fly!ers,We are in the process of re-uploading the files. For some strange reason, the patch 1.10 did not work so we will have to upload a full Version 1.10 instead. We apologize for the inconvenience.Regards,The F2FD Team
