Richard Harvey

Lake Tahoe

September, 2002

This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.

At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.

Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"

Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."

We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums!

Hi all,I mixed up a key stroke sender and a gauge switch in order to get a panel button that simulates the key stoke on the keyboard. This feature will be usefull with DynPart scripts and will allow to produce 3D aircraft part movement as if we were in the pilot seat.As Giorgio pointed out once, all we need now is a DynPart dll that make more kind of movements, not just a up-down.Soon in the librairies, but I need to improve the DynPart dll first.Just keep in mind this feature in your developments ... it could be handy !CheerslaurentC

Eddie was working on an absolutely beautiful rendition of a Cessna 152 for Fly!II. Has anyone heard if it's just on a back burner, is there any chance of finishing it, or donating the present work to ROTW for finishing touches? Looking forward to hearing something. Also looking forward to the Seneca V originally started by RealAir, there was a post some time back stating that it was in the hands of ROTW now. Let's put the word out that there is still demand for these projects.Zane

I mean we hope to upload her on simvol at the end of the first week of october. The beta tests have been achieved and we are writing the manual.Do you think you can wait until this date? ;) Ren

I have produced a small DB update package that installs the missing 7S3 airport of Hillsboro, Oregon. This is the airport that Zane had requested - it has been uploaded to the Avsim File Library. If you would like the files sent directly to you, please send your email address to [email protected]. Otherwise, they should be available from the library shortly.A few suggestions on creating the scenery for this airport:Though TM can't find the airport (who knows why), Taxiway sees it immediately. I would suggest downloading the TerraServer image into TM by using the digital coordinates:45.4284503 / -122.9421569This will give you a fair overhead view of the airport. …

Hi,I don't know what has happened but I now have a very small screen image with a large black border around it. I have tried to get a screenshot of it with jpegsnap but the screenshot I see appears normal. I will attach it in case it shows the problem on your screens. The problem first occurred with FlyII but also occurs with other programs but not with word or excel documents. It started(? coincidentally) after I installed Flystart but I don't think this should affect programs other than FlyII. My webpage is normal size.I have recently added some files to MSFS2K2 which I still use from time to time and wonder whether it is related to this.I presume it is a graphics card (N…

Just wanted to say thank you to Wayne Roberts for continuing to make wonderful airport sceneries (as well as his other work) for FlyII. The late Richard Harvey captured the fun of flying so very well in this sim, Microsoft with all its money and power and "goodies" just still doesn't capture that fun factor like Fly does :-yellow1 :-jumpy :-yellow1 :-jumpy :-yellow1 I do have a special request for Mr Roberts. I fly out of two airports, one that is not represented very well in FlyII, the other isn't even there. KHIO Portland Hillsboro (which has the NDB HI missing from its ILS approach) and 7S3 Stark's Twin Oaks, an interesting little family owned airport just south of …

To my fellow Fly!ers - 56.5 hours after my first intro flight at Jefferson County Airport on the Olympics in Washington State, I am, as of a few hours ago, a licensed private pilot. True lesson-time, including solo practice, was just under 50 hours. The other 6.5 included some sightseeing dual time in Hawaii and two intro flights at out-of-town airports before hunkering down and taking lessons. To say that Fly! was not the inspiration would be a lie. It was an addiction that finally had to be conquered with the real thing. Attached are a few photos from my last out-of-town trip in the Rockies. Got to 13,000 MSL in a Cessna 172! Thanks to the Fly! pilot community and the fe…

Hi folks,Thanks to the fantastic NightModel_v2.0.dll made by Laurent Claudet (ROTW) I was able to make a special livery of the default TRI-PC12.It does NOT replace the default PC12, it`s an add-on for night-flying.I uploaded the Pilatus_PC12_Night.zip to the Avsim lib.Available later today!RegardsLeen"Flybike" de Jager (ROTW)PS:This NightModel_v2.0.dll wich can be downloaded from the Simvol and Avsim lib. can be used to make a night-livery of any FLYII aircraft.Clear instructions,in English, come with the DLL.Great fun to do, try it yourself. If you need some advise, feel free to ask!http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/90700.jpg

Hi all,I haven't found any tag that can show night textures for aircrafts models in any "world" folder files as static models have (kmnn instead of kmnd ... or sothing close to that).I preapared a dll that enables night textures : the idea is from Giorgio.I hope this feature can be useful for any of you ... but maybe ther's a tag that do that anyway ...laurent (rotw)[Very soon on simvol site and avsim library]
