The FLY General Discussion Forum
The General Discussion forum for the TRI series of FLY Simulators.
| Richard Harvey Lake Tahoe September, 2002 | This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.
At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.
Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"
Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."
We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums! |

Does anyone off hand have the orignal Fly II render file numbers for the Textures, I've altered mine as per instructions with one of the TerraModels Downloads and have experience a few hic-ups, nothing serious, more annoying than anything, but like a doofus in all my excitement of installing the terramodel I forgot to record the orignal numbers before I changed them.Yours TrulyMr. Lesson Learned

Hi All,It seems that, following SquawkWin story, IVAO changed their server software to filter the suspect pilot clients !This afternoon, while attempting to make a IFR Flight, I was kicked off each time after a few second of connection. This happen only if there is another aircraft in range (when SB start a small ethernet exchange with him to know his type...).I you experiment the same problem, please try the 3.11 version, I hope I found the problem.http://home.tele2.fr/Gwenn_Rolby/SquawkBox/SquawkBox.dllLet me know- roland -* AirFeedback 1.0 ** DragPoder 1.0 ** SquawkBox 3.1 *

Hi, Saitek X36-x35T gameport, driver for windows XP now available:FeaturesThe X36 NT Driver is similar to the Saitek driver for Windows 98 but with some diferences : * X36Map is all-in-one, this is, loader, editor and command editor are the same program. * With X36Map you can access button configuration with only one click. * Rotaries can have diferent modes for Normal and Pinkie operation. * When working as buttons, Mode selector and Aux selector can have diferent commands for central position. This is, "right to center" can be diferent to "left to center". * Rotaries are limited to 10 positions. * Throttle and rudder are limited to 6 positions. * Au…

Greetings to all!I just recently did a complete re-install of my FlyII program. Everything's working just fine, however, when the plane is in flight (any plane) and I'm viewing it from an external camera, the gear is visible and "peeking" thru.Is there a render.ini setting which should be changed or something else I should do? I wish now I had saved my settings from the previous install for this very purpose.I've tried Environment Mapping on AND off... it doesn't seem to change the situation. If anyone could help I'd really appreciate it.John BauderFly! There were the days when if you didn't take a look in the AVSIM Fly! forum for a single day then you needed to scroll two or three pages to get updated. There were the days when Fly! add-ons were mentioned in the first page of AVSIM forum and Wayne's scenarios popped frequently, even daily in some occasions.Personally I have also reduced my anger to understand Fly! databases and structure and continue to develop Fly! add-ons. However, I still love Fly! and for me it is still the most exciting simulator developed until now. I'm talking in terms of the way it handles the process of fly.Yes, MS Fly Simulator has beautiful scenarios and aircrafts and components and facilities.…

G'day Bart,I don't know how far advanced you are with the Beaver but if any of these pics are of any use to you then email [email protected] I'll zip them up and email them to you. They are all 1024 x 768 As soon as the pilot had got out to open the door for us I was accross into his seat like a rat up a drain pipe. :-) Wasn't going to let this opportunity pass. Unfortunately I literally only had about a minute or so. With everything set on auto I just aimed and fired away. Some of them I took from the copilots seat whilst in flight. The pilot was a young Canadian lad (about 25), only been in Fiji about 14 months flying tourists around the various island resorts…

I was test flying my electra when something happened to the program. I pressed a key on the throttle pro and the program behaved funny. Well, I went into the gameport properties to calibrate it and also tried to load "speedkeys", and one, speedkeys does not see the throttle and two, the calibration window will not close. After reading up on the CH Products support site, the only thing I found out is that winxp does not support non-usb throttle. Yet for many months things worked fine. Does anyone have a non usb throttle pro with xp? I am stumped as to why everything worked and now only the yoke and rudders work, but no throttle and buttons.tony

Hello fellas, Long summer, been super busy with work and at home, wife is 7 months now with number 3. Ran out of hard drive space to keep going on the Alaska and Hawaiian Islands scenery projects for now. I do check the main page every day to download the latest files (Thanks Wayne!) and have not had much time to fly. Everyone else in the same boat or moving on to other things?JamesHmmm... G'day all,Back from an absolutely fantastic holiday - got the sun tan to prove it :-) Just a few aviation pics that I hope might inspire. Any one wanting to make a beaver cockpit ? I may be able to help with photos. I hope the quality of the uploaded pics is not degraded too much as I had to be quite vicious on them to achieve the Avsim size limit.1. The livery says it all.2. Not a bad way to transfer to a resort. "experience the difference". I'm converted :-)3. The pilots claim it's irreplaceable as a workhorse.4. Heli-pad Fiji style.5. Can you id this helicopter.OK inspirational speech over. Time for me to heed my own advice and get back to texturing the Beech mo…

Hi all,I've been absent from this forum for quite a while. I left shortly after Fly!2 was released.Recently, after an upgrade from a TNT Ultra to a GeForce2 Ti I developed problems with Fly!2k. The software starts OK but a few seconds after I enter into the simulation I get a "an unknown D3D error has occurred" and then of course Fly! freezes and I have to "end task". Is Fly!2K compatable with the GeForce2 Ti? Is there a setting in a config file that needs to be changed in order to use this card? Any help would be appreciated. My directx version is 8.2.Thanks,Richard Lovison

Gerhard Scheuereckerin his Tips and Tricks about frame Rates in FlyII mentions that window mode is a hidden feature of the render.ini that requires insertion into the [graphics] section.I don't understand what it does and don't wish to insert it into my render.ini without knowing. Can someone enlighten me please?:-hmmm

I am getting better with the mapping of the textures. The flight model is "flyable" and the cockpit is coming along just fine.I will get it to an "alpha", and then ask for some help in painting, flight modeling, and anything else that it needs. I feel I've taken a crash course in everything.....Ps notice the tires, the fuselage and the wings. I have not done the stabilizers....tony

Hello Fly friends,I am currently making a FS9 version of an experimental aircraft I built in 1986. I do hope to have the work completed in a month or so but am wanting to find someone interested in converting the 3d files over for use in FlyII as well. I would be happy to supply the needed files and assistance but I do not have the time to do all the work myself. You can view screenshot of the untextured visual model nearing completion here: http://www.flightsimnetwork.com/dcforum/DC...mID8/44918.htmlPlease contact me if you are interested.Zane
