Richard Harvey

Lake Tahoe

September, 2002

This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.

At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.

Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"

Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."

We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums!

Since FLY II has been out for a long time, my fairly decent computer should make this sim cook. Why is it that I get stutters and slow performance after an hour or so? Anybody got an answer for this one?

Hi Fly!ers,As Fonchy has joined to his Valencia scenery some VFR maps, we have created the VFR waypoints so that everybody can Fly! under VFRules. It will look like on this pic if you are using Volnav (I hope that you do so!) :-hah The dex files are available in our "Flights preparation" heading, look for the "Controlled VFR" page. In fact, they contain more than 580 VFR waypoints :9 and all this exists in both French and English versions -sorry, no Spanish version at this time, but translators are welcome :( Happy Fly!ing

Has anyone noticed problems with the Directional Gyro in some of the Aircraft? When doing my pre-flight instrument check, I can't make sure the DG is aligned to the Magnetic Compass, yet the Autopilot 'Bug' on the DG moves fine! This problem seems to affect panels in various A/C. So far I have confirmed it on several C172 A/C from the library, as well as one Piper PA-28.I think this has something to do with file names as I have looked through all the PNL, PIT, AMP, etc, and can't find anything that would cause this. Adjustment knobs on all the other instruments seem to work fine - Altimeter, VOR/OBS, ADF, AI, etc. This problem seems isolated to the DG, but I can't find…

Following Israel post, I've made more test and debugging on the winds aloft frame importation. It seems to work correctly now, and I activated it.Unfortunatly, servers send only 4 different layers in the frame, as Fly! can handle 14 different layers :-(If you want to test it, please follow this download link :http://home.tele2.fr/Gwenn_Rolby/SquawkBox/SquawkBox.dllIf you like it, just tell me and I'll keep that in the next version release.I have also fixed a few bugs with the 2 drop menus. To be tested.- roland -

Hi Guys,Could someone please explain a couple of things to me regarding the system data. The first questions relate to the PNL file.1) What does the figures relate to which directly follow the bmp reference file. (This is NOT the pbg file size reference as specified in )Eg.efis.SWT.pbg552) Could someone please explain how exactly the figures relate. I've tried to figure them out, but can't seem to make sence of them. Do these relate to X,Y,Z, positioning in anyway?. What is the start point of the rectangle??Eg. ---- begin ---- ---- rect ---- 5 33 24 52Sorry to be a pain Guys.......... but these are beginning to hold me up.Thanks for you…

About his future works, Daniele has thought to send POD and SCF files instead of "source" file for "import scenery" procedure. So we have thought to upload again last italian scenery Italy 2004 Lake of Como, Gulf of Naples and Elba with POD and SCF files, ready for scenery folder.Naturally the sceneries are the same, without changes.Again many, many thanks Daniele for your "GREAT" work!!!Luciano - LIME

Im sorry Guys but I have recieved an email off another repainter, that he has already started this repaint of the Dauphin. Im not going to upload mine now. Take your last look!http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=vie...t&file_id=79722This is the 7th repaint, it may be a few more, that I have lost now. This is something I have been going on about to my former team mates, and it stands true and has happend again. Why?I knew the Dauphin would be so popular, and its tif file is near perfect for repainters to do anything with.I say this only as a guideline, not as a nasty comment, to anyone. Some form of organisation is needed, not a free for all. I can push out 2 repaint…

Man this thing is cool. Really like the new features. If you haven't tried it yet give yourself a treat and download it now. It gives Fly2 what we have really been missing!!This was talked about a few days ago but we need to organize a fly-in using Squawkbox. I can provide a roger wilco server. I remember someone saying they can provide some ATC service. There are wonderfull airports here to download, and awsome scenery to use. Anyone interested leave a reply. I would really enjoy something like this.I'm off to find some ATC Servers!! Hope to hear a lot of interest.
