The FLY General Discussion Forum
The General Discussion forum for the TRI series of FLY Simulators.
| Richard Harvey Lake Tahoe September, 2002 | This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.
At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.
Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"
Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."
We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums! |

Has anyone done any elevations for Alaska and surrounding area's? I see that the SRTM stuff can be imported into Fly!II now. Has anyone tried that yet? I would LOVE to have elevations for Alaska. At one time, I think I did a bunch of taxiways for Alaskan airports, but I'm not sure I have them anymore.I propose we try to turn Fly!II into a Bush sim.. :-)Think it can be done?Dondo

Is there anyway to have Fly!II remember your controller assignments (both keys and axis's). I use the Flight Sim Yoke USB 90% of the time, but I also have a MS FFB2 joystick that I like to use with other sims as well. I'll have my yoke all set up in Fly!II, unplug it, plug in the joystick, fly around in FS9/FU3 for a while, go back to Fly!II, plug the yoke back in and I have to reprogram everything again. Is there a file or something that I can save that will remember my controller assignments?Another question, is there a particular setting in my render.ini that would work any better then the default for my particular vid card?I have a GeForce 4 Ti4600 128 meg card.I'm…

Yes, I am one of those who had to reinstall FlyII. I did have backups and that has saved me a lot of work. Now I am having a problem with SquawkBox. Keep getting an error message concerning the DLL in the Modules/PC folder. I installed the 3.0 file first and while unZIPing the 3.10 file I get a lot of error messages. I then placed the DLL from the 3.11 file into the Modules/PC folder. What am I doing wrong.SquawkBox V 3.10 for Fly! 2SquawkBox V 3.11 for Fly! II (DLL update alone)SquawkBox v3.0 for Fly! II

G'day all,Tried again to fly on the Tri server but there was no way the digital gods were going to repeat themselves and allow any meaningful connection. 15 minutes was the longest connection I achieved from about half a dozen attempts. I did notice Steve flying out of KSFO.I also noticed that after a disconnection I could not re-connect without resetting the modem. This meant a reboot of the computer. I'm only using a very cheap internal card modem so i'm not sure about external modems. Is anyone on broadband getting better results??Cheers,Roger

These are a shot taken North of 7S3 (Stark's Twin Oaks Airport) showing the airfield that Randall Rocke and Wayne Roberts did earlier this year. This airport is one I fly out of and it wasn't included with FlyII. Thanks to both of their work I get to fly out of it with my favorite sim :)http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/104369.jpgThis is default FlyII sceneryhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/104370.jpgThis is FlyII with Terrascene2 using Base textureshttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/104371.jpgThis is FlyII with Terrascene2 using HITW (Mountain/country) textureshttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/104372.jpgThis is FS9.1 with FSGenesis 38DEM mesh, Landclass, USA Roads,…

I have just installed Fly2 on a computer running XP but the graphics is all over the place. The inside of the plane is perfect but the external scenery won't stop flickering. It is that bad you have trouble making out any detail at all. The graphics card is a Radeon 8500 128mb. Anyone got any idea how to fix the problem?

Well, on a whim last night, I reinstalled Fly!II, patched her up, installed some sceneries, added some planes and did a little Terrasceneing. I pretty much used Fly! and Fly!II exclusively until FS9 was brought onto the market. Built a brand new machine to run it and overall have been very pleased with it. (You gotta admit, it sure is purty at times ;) ) Anyway, I always check the Avsim Fly! forum on my daily check of flight sim news and, like I said earlier, I decided to reinstall Fly!II just for a change and to take a break from MSFS.I generally like to fly with a "story", so to speak. I'm a member of a couple different VA's and embarked on an "Around the World" tr…

A request was made to me months back, for a Bridge system that can be used on wide rivers or lakes. For the life of me I cant remember who it was :-lol Anyway, here is a low poly 2 piece Bridge System. Nothing special! No traffic! You can add default cars if you wish.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/104237.jpg 1 Ramp1 Bridge, then just keep adding the Bridge model until you get to the other side... Hi Fly!ers,I am afraid that ROTW is going definitly crazy ;)Our friend Fred38 is being building an altiport, the well known terrain in the high French Alps, l'Alpe d'Huez (people who are fond of "Le tour de France" certainly know this station) situated in the east of the city of Grenoble. The runway is very impressive, just have a look at the SIA documentshttp://www.sia.aviation-civile.gouv.fr/aip...AD%202.LFHU.pdfYou can also consult this page at Fly.Simvol : http://fly.simvol.org/index.php?articles/p...fr/altiport.php (in French) which presents the work in progress. As you can see, our Pacha himself is not the last to make some very dangerous tests :-eek (some of us hav…

For those of you that own the PMDG Greek Airports package, I have just uploaded a new version of the ILS updates for LGAV to the file library. This version makes the corrections compatible with the popular DAFIF codes by Didier.Note: If you run a future DAFIF update, I would recommend running the LGAV2ILS.DEX again, as DAFIF would move some transmitters back to positions that would create interference in Fly!II.

While I keep trying to find an available copy of Fly2!, I also am trying to recall my last tests with that sim.I somehow remember that I was not very well impressed by the slipstream and torque effects in prop aircraft. I think I performed a few tests with thw P-51, and varying throttle didn't have any special effect over the turn&slip gaugue. I can't recall how realistic it is to fly the helos either. On a real helicopter pushing the collective abruptly will require quite an ammount of rudder to counteract it. The same is true when you increase collective. Another sitiuation where feet work is mandatory in real life is during an autorotation. For those of you curren…

Well my little play around is over. I have made a 12 minute movie showing some of my (47) repaints. Finishing of with a flight in Giorgio's Eurofighter Typhoon. Repainted!http://www.wrexhamspace.org/repaints.zip Its about a 12 meg download. Now for some real work :-) Steve:-wedge My Websitehttp://www.wrexhamspace.orgF2FDesign Websitehttp://www.f2fdesign.com/ My Fileshttp://library.avsim.net/search.php?CatID=...&Go=Change+View http://www.wrexhamspace.org/sig.jpg

this is the embraer 145 with the modified panel. It has working upper panel gauges in the front panel, a different shading, and a few tweaks to the flight model. This is a great plane to fly online--fast and tricky if you don't watch you airspeed. If there's interest, let me know. I will figure out how to best upload the panel and plane. It might take me a few days.tony

G'day all,Thanks to the kind permission of Roberto Vigetti (original DC-9 panel designer)Any takers willing to test?Email me; [email protected] I'll email the pod/files back to you. G'day George,The Avisim server wouldn't allow me to upload any pics in my reply to your post so I've started a new thread. Thanks for the update re Nimitz. I have been looking for this for a while and had finally convinced myself that it was only in the original Fly! :-) Thankfully I was wrong.A new addition for the carrier.Cheers,Roger
