The FLY General Discussion Forum
The General Discussion forum for the TRI series of FLY Simulators.
| Richard Harvey Lake Tahoe September, 2002 | This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.
At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.
Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"
Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."
We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums! |

After getting my CH Products Throttle Quadrant I have been flying the twins more. I have been spending time learning the King Air again. Last night I was unable to get the thing to a full stall. I tried flaps down, gear down- no go. The stall horn was sounding but all I could get was a gentle nose drop, she would pick up a little air speed and start a slow climb again. I even tried setting the trim 100% up, with full elevator, throttle at idle. Anyone have any ideas?Side note, I found a good resource for King Air info. It is for "the other" sim but a lot of the posts are from real King Air pilots. Have a look see.....http://www.aeroworx.com/forum/index.phpIn their…

Donny AKA ShalomarFly 2 ROCKS!!!In honor of Alejandro's continuing efforts the very first files I installed in the topic "FlyTwoFixes" were his magnetos fixes for the Navaho and Malibu. (Kodiak and Sahara). Unfortuanately they are the ONLY files in that category now, in about a week I will provide links to SeatPositionFix, DefaultAircraftFix (Just 2, it includes 1) BellHsiFix, BellFlightModelFix and others. I will soon be leaving town and my internet connection. If someone wants to make it happen faster they are welcome. I will soon have a bug list on EVERY default aircraft then move to the Addons. I look forward to the day when I have nothing more to say on the subject. …

Hi allIn the ROTW-forum I found a discussion, why non ROTW-add-ons are not included in their DVD.For me it was always perfectly clear that this was mainly a ROTW-product.But if they ever want to include some of my work on an future DVD I would feel honored and they can do so without any further permission from me needed.ROTW, thank you for your hard work to keep FLY!! alive and I am lookin forward for things to come.Harald

Some very nice changes and additions to Fly2. France is the place to Fly, I have been missing out. From the Airports, to the Aircraft its pure eye candy.Fly 2 now feels like Fly3OK, as my other post, just one little tip.If you have an older PC, you may need to turn the settings down a bit. Donny AKA ShalomarFly 2 ROCKS!!!I have thought for a while about doing a virtual polar circumnavigation in a Piper Malibu. The longest required leg looks like Mcmurdo to NZNV, slightly less than two thousand miles. The biggest obstacle is creating a cabin fuel tank. I suppose just increasing the size of the fuel collector would adversly affect CG. Admundsen Station at the South pole has a runway but it is not in Fly 2, I might just land as best I can or just refuel in midair but neither would be realistic. My plane of choice would be the Dragonfly, not cuz I like the paint job (don't) but it performs better. I seem to remember FF being higher, the Sahara may be better aft…

Hi there,Well, it's just a kind of generic GPS (sort of ROTW_230 if you ever tried it) but not a real one ... nevertheless we installed many real GPS features in it as a moving map, a direct to, a direct to waypoints, a compass page, an engine page informations, the radio tuning etc ...The french version is ready to go and it will be avalaible next week in SIMVOL site (I hope)... I'm finishing the english version that will be avalaible some days later here at AVSIM.The GPS is provided with two gauges that can be installed (easily enough) in any airplane cockpit. The first release version will be with the Malibu ...TJ, the ROTW group and I, we hope you enjoy it ...Cheers,l…

I just found this... will it be possible to somehow read NED or convert NED into readable files?Digital Elevation Model (DEM) and Digital Line Graph (DLG) Distribution DiscontinuedThe tiled, individual Digital Elevation Models (DEM) and Digital Line Graphs (DLG). Data sets will be retired June 30, 2005. These older data sets are being replaced by the current official National Map data for National Elevation Data Set (NED), National Atlas Data Set, and National Hydrography Dataset(NHD). This change is being made to ensure that the best available data is the primary data set distributed to customers. The DEM

Donny AKA ShalomarFly 2 ROCKS!!!I met someone on Avsim who is interested in trying FLY 2. As a start I would like to let them look over the manual. I thought it was on Avsim but I can't find it in the file library. I tried Iflytri.com and got bounced around a while till I was sent to the godgames server to download the manual but it was down for maintenance. Plus I wonder if the poor guy will be sent to fileplanet to wait for the manual like TRI used to do. Does anyone know the address if the manual is on Avsim? That would be the best way. Thanx!:-wave

Donny AKA ShalomarFly 2 ROCKS!!!Tonite I got really brave and installed acdefaultfix.2, flyhawkfix1.zip, pilatusfix.zip and seat position fix all at the same time. acdefaultfix2 gave me a long list of files I should delete if they still exist. I am new to using Podview, is there any way to look at the entire aircraft folder at once? I went through piecemeal and found a few of the files which brings me to my second question. How do I get rid of those files as per advice? I tried right clicking on them and was told I had selected them but I couldn't figure out how to delete them. My third question is does anyone know what harm is created in leaving those files there? Everyt…
