The FLY General Discussion Forum
The General Discussion forum for the TRI series of FLY Simulators.
| Richard Harvey Lake Tahoe September, 2002 | This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.
At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.
Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"
Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."
We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums! |

After a long time of being away. I'm glad to report that I am back and hope to be around for some time. Several factors played into my not being here. One being mainly the system I had at the time just wasn't up to par to run FLYII. Along with the fact that I under went major heart surgery in Nov 2003. Luckily I pulled through it but came away having to file for disability. Enough of the small talk. It's been over 5 years since I have installed FlyII. So I went to the FAQ tips for users. I've downloaded all of the patches except for the 250 patch. I can't seem to access it when clicking on it to download, tells me I don't have access. I read in another post about a proble…

Donny AKA ShalomarFly 2 ROCKS!!!I tried to get the C130 from Are's Hangar, an Avsim hangar site for FLY 2. The download link failed. Is the plane available?- can't find on Avsim.I first wanted the Herky bird for a BFU mission. It's the only prop job I know that will do a 12,000 LB payload. It's electrical equipment to repair storm damage, the spools/electrical boxes in FLY 2's editor will do nicely. I'm looking into using the Saab 340 or Beech 1900, maybe two trips? Just downloaded both.Didn't want to take the C4TO "HELP!" thread off topic, but I just did my first flite with the DLL version. I've been missing out! I usually close the planner without starting the flite pla…

Good day all,I'd like to invite you to visit, and contribute to, a new Wiki web site devoted to the Fly! series. What is a Wiki? "Wiki is a piece of server software that allows users to freely create and edit Web page content using any Web browser. Wiki supports hyperlinks and has a simple text syntax for creating new pages and crosslinks between internal pages on the fly." (wiki.org/wiki.cgi?WhatIsWiki)Open, public forums like this one are great for asking questions and sharing information, but message threads tend to be transient, and even with a good search engine, information tends to get lost over time. A Wiki site does not have the kind of dynamic interaction yo…

Wayne,I noticed your post regarding Randall's US data update. There are lots of airports in the US you have been so good as to provide us the scenery for.I,for one, am delighted you are 'populating' the rest of the world's airports.Surely those who fly in the US have enough airports to chose from so you can continue creating scenery for the rest of Wayne's World?May I humbly suggest that those wanting other US airports take up your earlier offer of requesting the specific airports and in the meantime you continue with the excellent job you are doing creating airport scenery for the rest of the world. What do other flyers think?:-beerchug

I uploaded a new DB Update package that covers many parts of the continental U.S. The updates add missing Localizer and ILS components, DMEs, locators, NDBs, Marker Beacons, VORs, VORTAC adjustments, and other corrections for numerous U.S. IFR approaches and navaids. This is the 2nd group of U.S. Updates in this series. The package should be available for download soon in the Fly!II Navigation area under the heading: Group 2 U.S. Approach & NAV Updates. You will find a comprehensive list of the updates and other information here: http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...g_id=3965&page=Coming soon - a DB UPdate for Canadian approaches and navaids. :-)

Hello All!!! (Again!)I reinstalled "Fly!2" last night after reinstalling "Fly!2k" the night before that.Anyway,I noticed something with "Fly!2" I thought was strange, hoped one of you can shed some light on...I noticed after you select your a/c, "Fly!2" finishes loading, and the a/c then appears on the active runway, as you accelerate up to take off speed, the a/c will veer off to one side of the runway. If you manage to get airborne,it will veer to one side, almost like an aileron is stuck, will not respond to control stick input, then augurs in and crashes....I've got the "European" version, but have'nt patched it up, yet, so I'm not sure if that's part of the problem or …

Hi David,Randall suggested I direct my question to you. The original thread is on this forum at:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho..._id=27578&page=under Weather Creation Question.I will quote myself here:"Hi all,I decided to set up a flight plan from Sedona, Arizona to Catalina Island in So Cal.So....using the weather insert tools in the flight planner with the Alt key:I wanted to start off on a clear day and then fly into a cold front. After setting up my route in the flight planner (Sedona to Blyth with a stop in Borrego Air Ranch by the Salten Sea and then on past Oceanside to Catalina).I went from Sedona, clear with no clouds or precipitation, and added s…

There are some pictures I want to share from a converted FS2002-freeware showing the city of Vienna.I had to change the original BGL-Files with a hex-editor to avoid FSIMP to crash. (FSIMP has problems with MSFS crash-code).Harald

Hi all,I decided to set up a flight plan from Sedona, Arizona to Catalina Island in So Cal.So....using the weather insert tools in the flight planner with the Alt key:I wanted to start off on a clear day and then fly into a cold front. After setting up my route in the flight planner (Sedona to Blyth with a stop in Borrego Air Ranch by the Salten Sea and then on past Oceanside to Catalina).I went from Sedona, clear with no clouds or precipitation, and added some high cirrus clouds at Blyth, increasing clouds halfway from Blyth to Borrego, more clouds, some wind and light rain at Borrego then lots of clouds and moderate rain at Oceanside to heavy rain and a 2,000 ceiling at…

Howdy,I downloaded and Rendered the Sedona Terra Scene and Wow!!! Talk about beutiful!! (Took a longgggg time to slice though...and that on my AMD 3000+ with 512 Ram).I also noticed and downloaded a Terra Scene project for the Grand Canyon. I have not done any rendering yet, and was wondering if these two complement each other or if the Grand Canyon one just redoes what the Sedona one did.If you have installed these, or authored them, please advise.Thank you,Marc
