There used to be this great parking lot at San Francisco International Airport (actually, it's still there) where I would spend hours, and sometimes an entire day, sitting with my friend, munching on sandwiches, scanner radios tuned to ATC just watching the action as the planes would come and go. Alas, the parking lot has been closed since the events of Sept. 11, 2001 and now here I sit in front of my computer "Plane Spotting" for hours, and sometimes an entire day, watching and listening as the AI aircraft come and go at the FS2002 version of SFO. There was a message posted today on the alt.games.microsoft.flight-sim forum from someone (Andy Robinson) who has claimed he has cracked the taxi speed code and is developing a utility to change the taxi speeds. Alas, no details on where or how he found it.

Folks, this is sort of a continuation of my plea for help previously posted under the thread "Can't use Flight Planner after AFCAD???"Briefly, now that I have 85% of my gates at KATL filled and all 4 runways in use, with so many AI Flights, I find I can't so easily do any real flying myself because I can't get in to get Clearance between all the AI pilots communications--at least not without waiting 10-15 minutes until ATC gets "caught up".Someone suggested the bright idea of reassigning com frequencies so that some of the aircraft will be contacting a different controller. I gave a friend a cd with my aircraft folder, aircraft.txt, Airports.txt and flightplans.txt files. He decompiled, installed them, and recompiled.Now when we both go to the same airport, at the same time and date, we dont see the same aircraft. I realize that they may not be at the same gates, but if were using the same flight plan with the aircraft assigned, and both have the same aircraft, why would they be different?Any guess?ThanksPete

Evening All,Got a weird problem. I'm in the process of editing KCVG and have added a bunch of gates, including Comair's Concourse C. I added all small gates to C and a good mix of mediums and heavys elsewhere. I randomized the list with no smalls appearing until well down the list. Problem is, nothing appears anywhere BUT C Concourse, including the 763's, 764's and 777's! I've re-randomized, re-saved and re-started at least 5 times and no joy.Anyone got any ideas here? I'm stumped...Thanks,

I have reasons to believe that I found a way (elaborate) to make cargo aircraft go to cargo parking spaces.And it's NOT the Traffic SDK.I set the radius parameter in the MDL file (see MDL Format SDK) to 01 for my cargo plane, created a very small Cargo parking (10ft) and put that one on top of the list and ...The cargo plane showed up at the cargo parking. When I removed theflightplan with the cargo plane, the unmodified 'passenger' jets refused to use this cargo parking.Further testing needed, but it looks good.

I am writing a small utility to adjust the maximum ground taxi speed of AI aircraft. Everything seems to be working so far, but there is probably still some tweaking to be done.Please be patient, and I'll let you know when it's finished :)Andy Robinson

I'm just getting started with TTools and an AI Traffic Manager I've found here. I've gotten past the double saving of a/c flight plans, and now have a different problem. I've set up 1 aircraft, with 2 flight plans, originating in KTIX flying to KDAB (~20 mins away) then back again to KTIX.I've gotten the scheduling right, given it enough time to arrive and taxi before leaving again. Now my probelm is FS says after compiling that the a/c will arrive at its destination @ 01:24 and it actually arrives @ 01:34 +/- a minute or two. Why is this? It arrives at its previous destination with about 20 minutes to sit and wait for the next turnaround, so that isn't the problem. …

First off, Run, don't walk to get this nifty little add on. I found the address at simflight.com. It gives you a wealth of information on individual AI aircraft. One thing I noticed is, that the taxi speed is set according to the throttle setting, not the actual speed. It seems to be 9% while taxing. You can see the IAS change as the aircraft turns and moves over bumps and such. The question is, has anyone who has been into the air files, perhaps noticed such a figure, that could be changed?

Check it out, posted today on flightsim.com, very interesting DLL plug-in from a company that promises more addons!! At the very least, one can locate "dead" AI aircraft ahead of you on the tarmac and DELETE them!, perhaps stopping those irritating jam-ups when AI traffic and ATC seemingly disconnect!

HI,Can somenone help me to resolve this problem with AI.Since I have compiled new routes and new aircraft using TTools and the AI traffic Database, I see that a lot of AI flight are double. There is aircraft flying the same route, with the same ID and who are side by side. The ATC repeat the same message for those aircraft two time because he see aircraft. On the TCAS of the 737 from DF and of the A320 from PSS I see also 2 little signal side by side for those AI aircraft.Can Someone have I idea of what is it ?Thanks a lot.

Today for the first time that the prop on Mike Stone's Meridian spins when in flight and when taxing and stops after it parks and the engine is shut down when used as AI. QUESTION:Do others do this also and I have just missed it? This one makes a good AI, lands and departs wtih out problems or need of any tweaking.Best Regards,Bob

I'm a newbie to traffic tools although I've been a flight sim user since v II on the Atari ST. Adding AI aircraft to my local airports has just consumed a week of my time, and I've enjoyed every minute. I've even spent several days writing an AI traffic editor which I'll be releasing as freeware shortly.Anyway, enough preamble. Just off the coast of Western Australia there's an Island (Rottnest). It has a simple landing strip, and after adding some taxiways and a parking area using Airport 2.6 I then used Afcad to add the necessary taxi points and GA ramps. So far so good. Does anyone know how to reset the AI Traffic patterns on the ground at airports to the default issued by Microsoft short of a complete reinstall? I'd like to restart a few airports using AFCAD and would prefer to start form the default without mods. If you know which files I could just replace I'd appreciate the help.

I note from most of the tutorials that when adding repaints to your aircraft folders you should change the title in Aircraft.cfg to B737-200 Paint1. Adding further "Paint" no's as you add more aircraft. The title then becomes the description of the aircarfat in the AI file, Airplanes.txt.I have 34 different 737's and multitudinous other aircraft so I thought I would make it easier when using AI Traffic to see which plane I am assigning to which flight.I retitled an aircraft B737-400 Lufthansa and after compiling and changing flights it worked. Hi guys,I have one question. I have tried to made flightplans for Adria Airways departing from LJLJ to elsewhere in Europe but I have a feeling that WEEK instruction does not work. If I have repetiotion time 2, 4 hrs.. 24hrs the aircraft used do fly, depart and land but if I use WEEK, they just remain on the ground. I have changed days, time, no success. When I make changes with AFCAD does that also change the way you get progressive taxi instructions? I have installed simflyers' scenery and the AFCAD changes for them. Ok, folks now what??? After AFCAD, KATL is beautiful. But I can't use Flight Planner!!!I have overlays set up and LOTS of aircraft lined up at all the terminals and landing and taking off on all 4 runways--looks almost as busy as I am used to seeing over at the real Atlanta Airport!But now, when I use the Flight Planner to file an IFR Flight Plan and try to get clearance to taxi, I can't fit into the crowd of pilots all wanting to do the same thing. This is really common sense, but I'll share so you all can benefit from my mistake. ;(8 Create a backup folder in your Ttools folder. After you do a lot of work on your Aircrafts.txt or Flightplans.txt, drop a copy of them in the backup folder. This way, you won't lose hours of work when you accidentally run the TDecompiler. :-mad
