Hello, I recently tried to lighten the load on my CPU by following this video: And after i restarted my PC, my FSX desktop icon was turned into "Microsoft flight simulator.url" instead of FSX.exe. Along with this, when i try to open fsx from the root folder, it says that steam initialisation failed.So know i have to manually boot steam and then start fsx manually every time. also, when i try to make a new desktop icon of fsx from steam, it still places the .url. I like flying the Cessna 172 with the G1000 PFD. I don't care for the MFD map though. Is it possible to keep the PFD but replace the MFD with the G500 GPS? Sean

I always wan to improve FSX even more but focus on able to fly to location without low FPS. Last night I did an good flight other then taken off at LAX to YOW and at those airports I had very bad low FPS of under 5 to the point that it was not easy to to takeoff and land but as soon as I left and at FL30 it was around 20 to 30 FPS (FPS set to 40). Resolution is set to 2560x1440 and it looks very very good but AS FSX is an darn 32 bit 4GB memory and at times as pain what Resolution would it run better on.

I am moving all of my addon scenery files to a new hard drive. From what I read, I need to go into The scenery tab in settings in FSX and point FSX to the new hard drive. I cannot find where I need to go to accomplish this. My c:/ drive is 1 tb and it is full. The addon scenery accounts for 750 GB so I am going to install it on a 2 TB hard drive so I will have room for more files. Just asking to be pointed in the right direction for doing the scenery change to new drive. Thanks in advance! Lewblok

I have FSX-SE and Saitek / Logitech Controllers. Every now and again something stops working as expected: throttles don't respond, brakes don't work etc. When I open "Settings" and look through the assignments for the various controllers I find some new assignments have appeared. For example brakes, which were assigned to the rudder pedals, have suddenly got a button assignment on the yoke or the throttle quadrant. I go through all the controllers and delete all 'random' assignments, so there are no theoretical conflicts, and all is well (for a while). How / why is this happening, anyone?

Hello guys, Its been awhile since i've Played Around with FSX, When i last used it my Hardware in my computer was not that great so i used to really mess with the FSX Config Quiet i bit, With Job Scheduler. All that good stuff. Well im downloading it now. I just recently upgraded to a i7 9700k, z390 series motherboard 16gb of ram. Is there any reason to mess with FSX config. Im Just Looking for advice thanks! Im also thinking i should be able to run FSX on Ultra? Im Looking for what settings to run. Looking for a pure Smooth FSX Expierence. Should i just crank them up? From my understanding some Settings run better when turned off

Hi I have the dreaded joystick dropout in Windows 8 so I have assigned my joystick through FSUIPC. I have unticked enable controller and deleted all my joystick assignments in FSX. However, everytime I restart FSX the controller box is ticked and the joystick assignments re appear in FSX. It is thought the fsx.cfg is not saving my settings. I then have to go through all of my joystick assignments in FSX and delete them again. I am pulling my hair out. If anyone has a solution, I would really appreciate any suggestions. Many thanks John

I did know how to remove the default stream texture, but my old age is getting the better of me. In my scenery the stream texture will not flatten in lake and rivers. Luis left me a message that adding // in front of rivers so //Textures=RiverSU.bmp Save. would remove them. This will not work. The stream texture shows in lakes and rivers, and on lakes where the stream texture is the lake will not flatten to set lake elevation

Hello, I am looking for a landing rate monitor that will output any landing events to a file, potentially including speed, bank, wind speed and direction, etc. Does anyone know of one that exists? I have tried Lord of the Landings 1.7 and 1.8, however, both spit out some error about not having the correct side-by-site configuration. Cheers, Tom

Hello friends and folks, I just purchased chaseplane for fsx:se Everything running smoothly, i followed the manual, excluding the chaseplane.exe and chaseplane bridge.exe on my windows defender, when i already setup all camera position, save it, then restarting the sim, back with chaseplane as well, the camera position and the zoom set is different like my setup before. I dont know if it’s a bug or maybe i miss something so that happen. Anyone could help? Thank you.

Hi, it has been quite a few years since I have had to re-install FSX and I was sure I used to be able to press a single button on my controller or keyboard that changed my virtual cockpit view so that I was "virtually" keeping my eyes upon the runway that I had chosen to land on (I know I can do this via the menus but I just wanted to do it with a simple key press). I then also had another button from memory that restored my virtual cockpit view back to "eyes front" as per how my default flight begins. But I have been mucking with the various available key command options for a couple of days now without luck, so I am guessing I must have had to change some configuration …

i just downloaded RXP GTN750, and bought real sim gear GTN750 touch screen - however, I can't get the gauge to work in FSX SE - but I can in Xplane 11. Ive downloaded both plugins for each sim system - however the FSXSE version just won't work. It shows on my addons but doesn't work or ends up crashing the system all together, if anyone has a fix or is willing to look at it for me, it would be much appreciated!

I have a friend who used to play FS 2002 on a Windows computer. He is interested in getting back to flying again but now owns a Mac. I know it is possible to install Windows in a separate partition in a Mac computer. However I would like to know how well FSX runs on a Mac compared to a regular Windows computer. I bought the Qualitywings 787 on July 7. I am currently dealing with a bug. It randomly pitches up in the middle of my flight. I come to find that the autopilot has set the speed to 220 when I know I set it at 340. I fix the stall and it goes back to normal but within the next hour or so it happens again. I have version 1.1.1 and the problem persist. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you P.S. I have tried reinstall and flying at different altitudes but to no avail Also whenever I try to install hotfix 2 I get an unknown version error and they want me to reinstall it. I have tried that but hotfix 2 wont install

Hello, So I recently got Imaginesim's KATL for FSX, and I followed the instructions to the T, and I still cant get my SODE jetways to appear. Their is a black outline where they should be against the Terminal, But I don't have any jetways. I cant find a Definite answer across the Web, So im hoping I can get some help here. Thanks!

Greetings! It seems I'm 'bound' to come here again. I'm constantly getting presented wth t he FSX Acceleration 'Activation' Screen AFTER flying for 30min. Looking for ANY help that would exclude off/unloading all my 7TB of aircraft and sceneries... I've attempted several times to 'Re-Activate' to no avail... I'm not sure that using the CTD publication will offer any solutions to this 'Activation' issue; as their really is no 'CTD'.. I'm new in the forum but i'm an fsx lover, specially the airbus models...but Im having a little problem in my FSx Steam Edition I haven't Nav lights in all the airbus a330 and a340 models..and I don't know why Is there any way to fix and solve this problem? so when FSX:SE is loading up, i get this error message as well as this error message. now if i click on "no" to both of them. Then Flight Sim proceeds to start up no problem, willy nilly. But if i say yes to either/both of them. it then says "The module "X.dll" has not been tested for compatability with the FSX version you have installed"......"If you run the module, it may cause problems or a crash. Run the module now?" And if i click on Don't run on both of the addons that are causing the pop-up. FSX then continues to run with no-issue, and no noticable disturbance. I recently DLd the "AVSIM Crash to Desktop Guide." Really helpful. I took its advice and also DLd FSUIPC. (I took the freeware version, since the registered version functions are far beyond my pay grade.) But after installing and using, I have some really basic questions (Yes, I've read the User Guide) : 1. It displays remaining VAS alright, but it put a great big green band all the way across the top of my screen. Is this normal? 2. I can get rid of the green band by deselecting FS Title Bar and/or FS Window, which I guess defeats the purpose. Long time user of FSX but after upgrading to Win 10 about 2 years ago it seemed like nothing worked correctly, the software and some hardware like my MS force feed joystick. I would like to get back to simming. I Have FSX gold version but is the steam version the answer for some of my ills with win 10 upgrade? Realize this is not very specific question but FSX software seems to have a mind of it's own. I deleted and re-installed several times, loaded it on another computer, etc. Nothing helped. Help appreciated.

Something strange I noticed: If I start FSX:SE through the Steam client (open Steam, click play for FSX), Steam starts an install dialog like FSX isn't already installed. I cancel the install and after that, my CH yoke and pedals are no longer recognized in Windows. If I instead navigate to the FSX folder and double-click fsx.exe, FSX starts the way it should and everything works according to plan. Has anyone else seen an issue like this?
