Hello, I am a bit new to the forums. I am just requesting help for I am in search of a new FSX gaming computer. My current rig is good enough to run FS9 at max with addons, however I was a little dumbfounded when I purchased FSX. My pc can only run the bare minimum scenery with some payware at horrifying FPS. So, I believe it is time for a new rig. I have been searching around myself for good computers, but just wanted some help and possibly some good ideas for me. My budget is $800 which is a bit slim, but I do not require a mouse, keyboard or monitor. If possible just leave a link in your post of the rig. Thank you in advance!

Hello everyone I don't post often but have upgraded recently to essential w overdrive. After a couple of hicups I think the programme is now properly installed. Problem is that the winds aloft in REX are not even close to correct for my part of the world. I live in Perth Western Australia. As an ex pilot i have access to all aviation forcasts and for example winds here at 18000 are currently 270/30 -10C and in REX its indicating 055/14 -4C. Its not just 18000 that is the problem, the only altitudes vaguely close are surface wind and 10000. Guys that is a huge difference, am I doing something wrong? Would appreciate any help or explanations you can offer. Cheers Tim

Since micro soft no longer supports the FSX FLIGHT SIM , WHERE DO I GO TO INSTALL THE SERVICE PACK ONE AND TWO., I had to do a reinstall of my FSX SIM, .When i go to micro for FSX THEY SAY THE DOWNLOAD IS NO LONGER AVAILBLE. HOPE SOMEONE CAN GUIDE ME . Thanks

Whenever I click on the panel near the areas to set my v speeds or adjust the altimeter, I keep getting an error message asking me to check for soundfile. Any clues? It crashes too. Only to the point of restarting the flight. Would love a solution. Thanks

I was wondering if it was possible to limit the number of AI aircrafts by number and not by percent (%) my PC is not super new but runs everything ok as long as there isnt much traffic, i would say it's ok until around 80 AI aircrafts, but sometimes on big airports it can be a lot more than that and fps drop big time for me limiting by number would be so much better than the traditional limit by % because when the max isn't reached you would still have full traffic for example if i put a limit at 80 aircrafts by number on a small airport who has 60 aircrafts - with my limit i would still see the full 60 aircrafts - with the traditional % limit set at 50% i w…

Hi all. Im playing: FSX I have this problem when i starts a flight everything is working perfect until i i can see the arrival airport and that there is no buildings in the airport, only gate-arms!?!?!? When im taxing in to get is the same as before, i can only se gate-arms no buildings. But today when i set the parking brakes at the "gate"(no buildings so i can't call it a gate) i wondered if it was the same at another airport, so i changed airport and yes, there was only gate-arms, no building. then i have some uk200 scenary, so switched to Gatwick uk2000 scenary, and there was no problem with that scenary? I'm looking at the FSD Piper Navajo, is it still a good addon? I know it was released years ago, how has it held up compared to something like the RealAir Duke?

I was (and still I am) a proper freak for an ultimate simulation in FSX, in this case of an aircraft systems, procedures, checklists, everything. There is no better feel when you start with cold & dark state 10-12 minutes before pushback, preparing the plane, activating all the systems, flight plan, autopilot... But, one huge but, all that comes with a cost - they are all a huge perfomance killers! I bought PMDG 737NGX and Aerosoft Airbus X (and probably Extended), and I must say when FPS drops to 14-18 on final with PMDG and FSX starts to stutter badly, all that fantastic feeling of an ultimate sim fades away. Hi all I've had a problem ever since FS9 whereby my Bristol Airport (and a few others) appear to be sat on a cliff. The way I understand it is that this is caused by third party mesh (I use FSGlobal 2010) which conflicts with the default terrain data so the end result are these elevated airports. Until now it never really bothered me but since changing to FSX and upgrading my PC it really annoys me as everything else looks so good, this ruins the effect completely. Is there any way of solving this issue without removing the mesh product? Like a tool that I can use to flatten a localised area? Thanks Martin

Ok, I love Opus and I have noticed that after I started playing around with the camera views and attached to several GA planes that after about 5 minutes of inactivity FSX exits full screen mode. Has anybody else noticed this? It only seems to happen while on the ground. Taxing and flying are ok. I noticed this also, that after I exit full screen mode to fuel the plane, and click ok...the screen just flashes and will not return to FSX full screen. I have to alt-tab to desktop, and alt-tab back to FSX to re-enter full screen. Thanks, Ray

Hi there Where can I find out how much real world data OpusFSX uses for regions outside of the USA? I am using AS2012 which thinly covers the capital cities of Australia but I don't think much else. I would switch to Opus if it included significantly more data for Australia than AS2012. What would be impressive is if there were actually a list somewhere that showed the density of coverage outside of the USA. Thanks Cheers Harry

Hi guys I've that weird issue. When I alt-tab out of FSX, I cannot just get back in by clicking its icon. I've to ctrl-alt-del and when in Window 7 blue screen to hit cancel. Something I should know ?

Hi, I have a CS 777. I set up my route settings using the FMS and enabled them. I took ascended and tried to enable the L NAV (Which I'm guessing is what you use to follow your FMS route right?) The L NAV will not enable for some reason, is there any other buttons I must engage before engaging L NAV? Sorry, I'm new to the advanced AP. Thanks

I was using FSX, doing UAL862 HKG-SFO, I was flying over the east coast of Japan, and decided to look up at the stars from the outside view. Thanks to AutoStarX, I could not only find constellations and planets, but even navigate by them. I found Orion, one of the first constellations I ever learned, and low and behold... 3 Meteors I was watching (at 1X [normal] Speed!) as 3 meteors went in the same direction right through the constellation, all in less than a second. It made my day, because I though they only appeared at 64x and 128x simulation rates, but its true! I saw them at 1x speed. And they looked amazing! Very fluid and realistic looking. I have been away from FSX for a good few months now and have been really wanting to learn to speak to ATC before actually getting on Vatsim and making an idiot of myself... I was wondering if anyone knew of a program that I could use to learn to speak to ATC. I was hoping for something that would allow me to speak, as I would on Vatsim or in real life, but not be an actual person but a program. Thanks in advance... Dustin

If you want to run FSX on Windows 8 then be sure to go into the FSX.exe properties / Compatibility and set the compatibility level to 'Windows Vista SP 2'. This seems to fix a number of CTD's that I had. Cheers jja

I was flying on Vatsim today with a buddy, he had just intercepted the loc for CYHZ rny 23, when suddenly, he was out over water, with an indicated airspeed of 54,600 knots!! He was flying the QW757. Anybody else have this issue? http://vataware.com/flight.cfm?id=10748075

I pick random start -end points in fsx using destinationfinder. so i got DNMM, but when i try load DNMM in FSX by relocating a/c there, fsx reaches 35% always and just stays there forever. But while hung at 35% the Cpu usage by FSX will reach near 80% and disk access is to all kinds disk related house keeping files such as pagefiles etc. I have recently changed fsx drive from HDD to SDD. The drive contains only fsx and fsx sdk. So just copied all to SSD. Everythign working ok, and randomly tried airports world wide and they load ok. But DNMM and anything close to it will not load. I can remeber seeing posts about running FSX over networked PC's, basically to offload external apps onto a computer not running FSX to free up processing power for FSX. My FSX rig, is just that, for FSX and other games, so I have a humble HP box with an e7500 core2duo for my day to day browsing, email, downloads etc and am just wondering how I may be able to utilise this for FSX. Currently I'm just using one monitor and swap the input over depending on what PC I'm using. So...... What can be run on the networked PC? I'll be using REX Essential for weather, UT2 for traffic and probably other addons but not sure what else might be able to run over the network. …
