November 28, 2012 Hello everybody, I had not flown into Germany for some time and I just realize that some German ILS have changed and do not coincide with Navigraph updated airacs. Result : a crash It seems that I would need to update the airports Afcads in FSX Where could I get these updated Afcads and how should I load them in FSX ? Thank you for your help Candide

Let's say I'm flying at a particular speed/heading/altitude. I want the system to propose a new speed/heading/altitude, and then I want the system to make a sound or flash a message when I achieve the new speed/heading/altitude correctly. Does anyone know of a feature in FSX, or an addon, or a hack to do this? ** Reason for wanting this is that I'm practicing for the PPL, and in the PTS checkride it's a typical maneuver; wherein the examiner proposes a new speed/heading/altitude, and then sees how well (smoothly/quickly) you are able to get there. I know it's not the same thing, but I want to practice on my FSX Cessna 172 before doing it on a real aircraft.

Can't seem to get the graphics right? Either very laggy or the graphics look very poor.

I installed Windows 8 x64 Pro yesterday and now cannot get FSX to start. I am getting this error: "The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail." I have done some research and thought my C++ Redistributables were somehow no longer installed and have reinstalled them all that I could find on Microsoft's website to no avail. I was wondering if anyone might be able to help me out. Thank you.

Hey all of you out there. I am in a little bit of a pickle. I am sort of trying to find a program or something similar like FS Economy. A program that can give me a destination where to go to and with whom. A little bit a mixture between FS Passengers FS Economy Air Hauler FS Captain. Good morning pilots! After months of talking about it, I finally got my bro into flight simulation. I am now looking around for a good Cessna he can use for his training. When I started, my mean machine was the Cessna 172 default, but for him I would like something more complete and appeasing. The two Cessnas I found are the 172 from Flight1, and the 177 from Dreamfleet. They are both very good, only problem is they both lack the ADF intrument. There is also the one form Carenado, but the autopilot is a one axis only, no altitude. Can someone point me in the right direction? For now I want to stay with a simple aircraft, so no retractable gear, no variable pith propeller.…

Hi all, I recently installed the (opus included) "cirrus_overcast03_opus_1024.bmp" into my FSX textures folder (renamed it of course) just to find that the nice cloud layer on top of low fog or mist had gone. I understand this file is used to prevent the (so called) "cloud of doom" but was not aware that by installing this .bmp the overcast effect is also lost. So I reinstalled my original "cirrus_overcast03.bmp" again and was happy to find this layer back again. (I never had that "cloud of doom" problem anyway although I use REX textures..) Now with the original .bmp in place although the cloud layer tops the "low visibility layer" one can still see the g…

I uninstalled 2.60.3 which I would normally do for any other beta versions, but when I installed beta 2.60.4 and run the server, the version it shows is 2.60.1. I tried uninstalling and re-installing 3x's with 2.60.1 continually running, any ideas? Thank you. Ryan

After installing tons of AI packages, I became frustrated by the persistence of default aircraft clogging the taxiways and adding nothing to my enjoyment. Using AIFP2, I opened the trafficAircraft.bgl and selected flightplans from/to my favorite airports of the moment (LGAV, ENGM) by identifying tail numbers of aircraft registered in the respective country (LN for Norway, SX for Greece). I opened individual routes with frequency less than 50% and changed it to greater than 50%. Then, I set my traffic frequency in FSX to less than 50% and have enjoyed not hearing "Orbit" or "World Travel" or "American Pacific" or encountering them on the taxiways. AISmooth doesn't seem…

You know how when you use mouse-look (shift O) in VC mode, it has a beautiful, fluid movement to it much like TrackIR? But when you use the hat switch to pan it has a very robotic, rigid 'fixed' way of moving that feels mechanical and crude? Is there any way to make is so that the hat switch looking behaves like the mouse-look panning? Fluid and more Human like? I tried a tweak that involved finding the cameras cnfg but the changes didn't make any difference. I"m using Win 7 so don't have the c/documents and settings/ et.etdc path. Hello, Guys! Many times, I've downloaded Boeing 777 for my FSX but every file give error. Some times comes as, it would run in the past version. Sometimes, cockpit doesn't come original as B777's should be. Some times, its Primary Flight display doesn't work correct. Most of these doesn't without any reason. So I request to every one to give me a real B777 to FSX which he should be also tried. That must work as real 777. Cockpit should also be as of real 777. Sound must be cleared, because some doesn't have sound. True and Air speed must come correct. So this type of 777 is needed to me. Best Regards, AP,

so if i change some of the display settings they never stay, even if i save them and reload them they are not the same, anyone know why? and what can i do to fix this?

I have installed ultimate traffic 2 and did not like it so I uninstalled and reinstalled all 623 world of ai packages. Now I don't have many arrivals that show in traffic toolbox but I have a lot of departures. I was looking at klax at 6:00pm and it shows only 2 arrivals? Can anyone shed the light on what the problem could be? I was using stb but I uninstalled that too thinking it was the culprit but it wasn't.

So I just re-installed Windows and FSX on my PC and now when I try and make and save any changes to a plane's cfg file, it says access is denied. I tried right clicking on the FSX exe file within the main folder but that didn't make any difference. I'm fairly sure this is a simple fix, I just can't recall what it is....

OK,, I am very familiar with the ILS and VOR and even some ADF Approaches. But so far I have not ventured into the RNAV GPS Approaches. I know, I know, GPS approaches are supposed to be easy... But I was always intimidated with them on the account the Garmin seems to do certain things which are slightly unpredictable (if you are not knowledgeable) about how the G530 and the G530W (Waas) system operates. I've been reading and reading but I never really got it. So today I set my system up for KSEA RNAV (GPS) 16L and flew towards the IAF PAINE. I set the Auto pilot to NAV mode and it changed course direct to PAINE..and thence it did things on its own...and I just watch…

I'm new to FSX and was just curious how many folks in the community use the DirectX 10 versus the DirectX 9. What do you prefer and why? My limited understanding is that DirectX 10 may offer better performance and possibly better visuals, however on the downside, its often quirky and needs a bit of handholding to get set up properly. As I get started with FSX, I'm trying to determine whether I should invest the time and energy to attempt to get it running in DirectX 10 or whether I'd be better off in DirectX 9 (Windows 7, 64-Bit). Yes, the PMDG 737 is a beautiful and marvelous aircraft, but surely enough there comes a time when the romance seem to have reached it's max. This does not mean I do NOT like it anymore. No.. Ok, this is a weird one...after about an hour in flight I walked away from my computer only to come back and find my view to the rear and upside down. At first I thought my airplane must have rolled. But toggling thru with 'A' showed every view right side up. So clicked F9 (default VC view) and again upside down and looking at the back of the plane. What the heck happened? Just unzip, edit the antilag.cfg file to set your FPSLimit and place both files INSIDE your FSX root folder. No bat files or Java GUI needed. This one has a 'frames ahead' feature which can be used as a frame buffer. Since I have left all things FSX on the shelf for nearly the past year I was wondering how (or if) things have moved on, and as 75% of my purchases tend to be aircraft add-ons I thought I would try and get some opinions on the cream of the crop. From my "hangar" if I could only take 3 aircraft then it would be: 1/ NGX - basically I hated larger aircraft until I got this, now I struggle to want to try anything else. (Just wish they would get on and do the BBJ add-on). 2/ RealAir Turbine Duke - my favourite GA aircraft by a massive margin., just great for getting in and out of those small strips. 3/ Lotus L-39 - great for a blast around the Alaskan valleys. …

Hey fellows, I need some info and help from people who are using photoscenery. I have the NL2000 scenery but somehow that is a bit heavy with fps , so what I have done is I have downloaded the photoscenery of EHSE (Seppe Airservice) using FSEarthtiles with a download resolution of 0 and I am using the library objects like autogen and 3d buildings from NL2000 scenery. Somehow I feel that the 3d buildings are looking much larger than the photoscenery buildings because to the NW of EHSE is a small town and that seems quite tiny compared to the Air field. Need to reinstall FSX after several failed attempts to resolve issue of FSX locking loading flight at around 33%. Since doing new install, thought might as well consider P3D, so got a few questions. 1. Any differences i should know about P3D from FSX, example does is there default ATC like in FSX 2. Thought I would give the Sky Sim DC9 another bash to see whether I should keep in my primary flight folder, or move it to my secondary aircraft folder for less used aircraft - as from memory it wasn't too bad to fly.
