Hi folks, I have a rather unusual question. I had suffered a virus attack on my PC, and needed to reinstall the OS and FSX drives from scratch. Well not totally from scratch, I had kept a backup of my previous FSX install on a separate drive and was able to copy/paste some important files or settings to help reinstate my previous settings as much as possible. For instance, I put a lot of work into updating my payware AFCADs to represent real life airline assignments more realistically than the ones provided by the developers, so I keep backups of just the afcads themselves. Another thing I found I had to do is to add mipmaps to some addon scenery texture files, so …

Here is the situation-- My normal performance is 30 fps with planes such as the NGx at a big default airport and using the external frame limiter. After a few weeks of relative abscence from FSX and a perhaps a few changes I don't think are related (installed DCS, some new aircraft, etc, nothing unusual), I now have the following problem: Independent of aircraft, even stock Cessna, my frame rate always is hovering around 18 or 20 when I load up at even a small regional airport in which I would normally get 30 locked and much much more if unlocked. I typically use the external frame limiter application which has worked for years and seems to be the best for me. This…

Hello all, first of all. I didn´t find anything about my issue in this forum nor in Google, nor in the REX Forum (it is very small I think, maybe because of not much issues ). I want to ask here, because I read many posts in the past here and I was everytime stunned about how helpful you people are. So I would really appreciate your help. Now to my problem. I have a question about the WX Plus mode of REX Essentials Overdrive. It is not working for me. Everytime I wanted to start flying, the FSX is erroring just before loading the AI traffic, that it couldn´t load the weather model. If I click the message away I have not the right weather (I have the last weat…

Hi guys yesterday i went out and got myself a GTX660Ti 2GB card to get my FSX to run better. From that time i had big problems with my FSX as you can see in the video link. So when i have done was 100% clean install win7 64, Clean install FSX SP2, Clean install video drivers 304. And to my shock i have the same problem right away. The problem only started with the new card and drivers. Old card was a GTX285. FSX is 100% stock as im not going to install my addon's and still have the same problems. I was going to get a bigger PSU but the shop i got my card from told me the GTX285 used more power than the GTX660Ti. So im looking for some help as to why its like it now pleas…

Can show all airports given the time I'd like to fly? For example. I want to start flights in FAJS and explore other large airports in Africa. However I only have 2 hours max. Is there a site I can plug in a airport and get some airport suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Everyone is different and everyone likes different add ons etc for fsx. That goes without saying. For some, certain mods work great, and others have problems with the same mods. I want to share my thoughts on ezdok/ezca and the enb mod. Both mods are awesome without doubt. If cameras are your thing, then ezca is the supreme program that will give you unlimited camera views, head shake and buffering effects, and a bunch of other things. However, from what I've read online, a lot of people simply like the head shake effect and buffering illusion. Also, if you've tinkered with ezdok, you know that it's quite complicated and can sometimes have issues. It's not i…

I frequently fly the Flight1 BN-2 Islander, some carribean flights, some Australian routes, but mainly around the UK. However, I was wondering if anyone who also flew this great plane knew of any liveries that could be applied? I recently saw the Top Gear episode where they cross the English Channel and realised for the first time that the UK coastguard aircraft that does a low fly-past is a BN-2, so a Coastguard livery would be pretty cool to have if there is one out there? I think there is a repaint option, but I'm not sure, and if there is I definitely don't have the skills to use it properly, I was hoping for something a bit simpler to use. I know it's probably a big …

While waiting for some addons... I thought you guys might get a little bored with FSX just flying flights over and over. So I thought I would come up with a little game for you guys. It's a "FSX scavenger hunt" 20 locations around the world with various aircraft for you to find in FSX. I am not going to tell you where the locations are, or how to get there. The first person to post a screenshot with all the aircraft that I say, at all the locations I say, will win a prize. (Not saying what it is, but it's expensive). You may post screenshots in separate posts. You may not work in teams. Lets start!!! 1. Bombardier Learjet flying over Lake Pleasan…

I'm a new user of Opus and so far I'm quite pleased with it. In AS2012 I have to possibility to load my flight plan and get a forecast for the average winds aloft on the flight level I plan to fly. This data I program in the NGX FMC. Now when using Opus, how can I get this data for FMC programming? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hello all, This may be one of the dumbest questions ever or one with the most obvious answer but in all my years of flight simming, I don't recall ever reading or seeing what the recommended approach to this is. Should we be disabling scenery add ons in our scenery library that we aren't using(i.e. flying anywhere near)? For example, I have several detailed scenery for airports in the US(FSDT, Flightbeam, FlyTampa) and UTX/GEX. Over the past couple months, I have switched to flying exclusively in Europe and have been buying add ons for the that side of the pond. At the moment, I have not tried disabling the US stuff. I've just left that alone. My system perfo…

I am looking for fsx aircraft that are IFR capable, but have minimal or no autopilot. I am looking for freeware specifically. And I know the obviouse answer is "just fly any aircraft, but don't use A/P", but that is not the solution I seek. Thanks for your helpful suggestions. Mike

Hello pilots! Happy 2013! I spent many hours in trying to find how much mb does FSX use to download real-world weather but to no avail. I know it seems peculiar but I like to know how much mb usage. If anyone of you know, please let me know. Warmly, D

Does anyone know where to get a free or payware package for KVNY? At least something that's been made in the past few years. I've found an acfad in the file libraries but from 2008... a little too old for the charts.

Hello, I recently finished my dream project (www.737NGcockpit.com), please note that web site is not updated with most recent progress, but will soon. Everything is working great. BUT I have a few issues that need to be fixed: Before I start withe the issues, I mention an important point: I have both NGX and Prosim 737. Everything works flawless with Prosim. But Since I do not have an overhead panel yet, I want to enjoy my cockpit with the NGX plane, airfile, and panel, and outside views, lights, liveries (get the point?) 1. Flight Illussion Gauges: They look great, but with absolutely no functionality. I tried Callibrating them but with no success. …

I have installed and successfully run the ORbx EU ENG package and I love it, it looks fantastic and runs super smooth on my system. I haven't had it clash with any of my other add on sceneries or aircraft until recently. I was taking off from St Just at lands end in the Flight 1 BN-2 Islander over to St Mary's on the Scilly Isles, for which I have the Earthy Simulations Isles of Scilly add on, which actually looks better than ORBX and is a fantastic must have for anyone who flies to these little islands. Anyway, I digress, as I took off and passed over the coast at Lands End, I had fields where the Atlantic should have started! I still had little outcrops of Islands and s…

Hello and Merry Christmas!! As the title says, I am a user of AS2012 for the weather engine, and REX for cloud textures, on top of it I use TrackIR5. I have got to say I am pretty satisfied with the current setup, although, as many say, when AS downloads the weather, it tends to slow down FSX a little, although not as much as before. Mind you, I do not fly liners, yet, so I cannot elaborate on the turbulence problems that affect many pilots at high altitudes. Having said that, I came to know a few days ago about OPUS and its features. I went to their website, and read more than once all the features that OPUS offers. The praise by many users is what really got me in…
