Anyone else encountered this freaky turbulence a few miles out on finals? FSX Acceleration exhibits this annoying behaviour with every weather condition except clear skies and even with AS2012. Seems to have carried on into P3D v2 also so ruins operations in/out of this airport.

Hi , just got my new computer and finally got to the point of installing FSX and got this error message: The application has failed to start because it's side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command line sxstrace.exe tool for more details. anyone got an idea of what is going, called microsoft support but said FSX support only available on weekdays. I love this hobby but FSX just should'nt be this difficult. Thanks for any help. Perry

Never had this issue before. Happens in both DX9&DX10 modes. Also no matter what camera is, VC or spot. Contrails are dissapearing at certain viewing angles, and lens flare is flashing randomly also when the plane and view is static (slew). I don't really care about lens flare, but dissapearing conrails are really annoying on cruise. NI settings are standard, just AA and AF, and fsx.cfg has nothing non-standard, just Highmemfix, Affinitymask and FFTF. Any idea what is causing this?

I didn't think it would bother me that I would not see much AI traffic during flights but turns out it does haha. So I am going back to UT2. This time though I am really going to try and update the liveries I can find. I started by trying to update A319 from the old united colors to the new ones. I found a aircraft and texture file put it all together in the sim objects/ UT2 fodler and yet when I go to find it in UT2 it's not there. I was able to update the 752 with the new United livery from AIG but so far there planes are the only ones that seem to show up in the manufacturer tab in UT2. I know the required information that goes into the FMC but I am wondering what other information should be added to "help" FMC's function better? I add some not required stuff to the FMC but I am wondering if there is stuff I have missed that is also important to add. EDIT: Another question I thought of. When you are flying a STAR and on the legs page sometimes it says "vectors" for one of the entries during the approach. Am I supposed to figure out what "vector" I need to take to get to the next waypoint or will ATC give me that "vector" to the next waypoint? Hi Is it possible to change the default active runway for quick hops? For some reason at egph it always defaults to runway 30 which at best is used about twice a year thanks

Captain Sim 777 or Airbus Extended X? Note I'm not asking which is better. Also, might be same answer but which of these above 2 planes is quickest to get into the air and hit 'set and forget it' button?

Why or why not? I personally don't because I would constantly have to keep switching to Chrome to get my route, and then back to FSX to import it into the FMC. What about you?

Has anyone purchased the new textures of REX Direct HD? I have AS2012 and up to now I have used those textures, are the REX Direct HD textures any better? I mainly need cloud and runway textures and don't have a high end system. I have seen those screenshots related to terrain bumpmap textures in REX Direct HD, that look like custom terrain in addon sceneries. Do they replace default FSX textures or are they only for ORBX sceneries? Thank you.

Hi. I get this in FSX and FS9 Lukla sceneries. That said, the problem is not, surely, anything to do with the Aerosoft airport installation per se, because I am flying a little way away from the airport, and if I deactivate that and the AS Lukla LC folders, the problem persists; so I am posting the question here.. You can see the issue from the screenshots (taken in FSX). These areas do not resolve into snowy textures, similar to those around them, but as you approach just become more finely focussed as they are, as rectangles of rock. As this happens all around the area, it looks quite odd and rather spoils the overall effect of flying here. if anyone has any sug…

Can anyone help please? I operate FSX on a Chillblaster Superfortress and only recently started to purchase/download add-on aircraft! to be specific... the Carenado Baron 58, and the Just Flight HS 146! The aircraft download ok and and are flyable in the sim, but I cannot open any of the manuals! When I attempt to do so all I get is what appears to be raw programming lingo or hieroglyphics on Notepad. I would be grateful for any help. Thank you!

For the downloading for the fsx addon "RexLattitude there is an advice to use a reputable Download Manager. ( Flash Get) Has anyone found this to be of any benefit? regards ANAMIV

Two months ago I was searching for a nice simulator which will be a challenge. Whenever I thought about FSX I was like - OMG no way, this is too complex. Now when I am sitting in my PMDG 737-800, listening to AccufeelV2 sounds during my route which was made in fsxcommander, watching beautiful REX clouds and feeling the ASNext turbulence, thinking about which gate will I choose and how GSX will lead me to it, just after I will land in FTX Global scenery I am loosening my grip off the Saitek Yoke and telling to my fs2crew FO to maintain the heading because I want to say to all of You and especially those who convinced me to get some of those modifications - Thank You. A few weeks ago i built a new PC (click My PC for specs) and though my main aim was to stick FSX on it, i find i'm still sat here weeks later playing FS9 because i'm worried i'll spend money on the disc, the addons etc and it'll run worse than FS9 does. This isn't an FSX bashing thread. This is me asking for honest advice about how well it'll run on my PC and whether an overclock would be either necessary or just make it nicer to run. Thanks. Ever since placing FSX on seperate hard drive & reloading Ultimate Terrain,updated to V1.5,when loading I get scenery file 004 missing ok to continue?,it then loads ok but takes forever to start chosen flight (more than 4 minutes),never had either issue before putting UT back on,tried removing reinstalling with & without SP2, now have 4 missing files? We found a problem with Beta 3.38.2 regarding the wind targets so we will revert back to the old method for wind injection and after some further testing will post a new Beta. We did make an improvement in getting rid of more cloud popping in beta 3.38.2 so we are encouraged by that. Cheryl

Hi Members. Recently purchased the Aerosoft Extended (a download) and after taking the time and trouble to read the manuals discovered an issue with a font affecting the ND display and MCDU II. After posting on the Aerosoft forum I got an answer to the problem but the solution in itself has generated a further issue. To solve the initial issue the high-resolution VC option box has to be ticked. Either way I do it (from the Settings screen or from the Settings menu within FSX) the simulator crashes with a fatal error and restarts and I'm back to square one. I'm presently on pause enroute from Myrtle Beach, SC to Key West, FL at FL180 Running ASN via my loaded flight plan as loaded into the GPS. I am being blown away by the sheer reality of my FSX sky. I'm running at a texture setting of HD 2048 and keeping for the most part at 30.0 FPS (locked in sim) I am seeing clouds (structure, complex with such look of realism, that it actually is a little weird) that I have never seen before in scope and shape. I must ask this question, is the weather injector totally responsible for taking my REX Extreme loaded cloud graphics, and then applying/building those graphics into the most 3D rendered and fabulous cloud formatio…
