Hi all I'm looking to speed up load times a bit and wondered if disabling some of the default fsx areas that I have duplicated scenery ie ftx Australia ,New Zealand ,PNW ,etc if this would cause any problems running fsx Thanks

Awesome piece of software! Whole new level of realism. I have two questions though, since I don't know that good ATC communications (using default FSX IFR), and I saw an option that co=ilot can handle ATC comms when you are busy? How? I guess there is a phrase for that? As I said, before I learn ATC phrases and stuff, how can I tell the co-pilot to request IFR clearance, taxi/pushback... and so on? Is there a way? Until I learn ATC, I wll be satisfied only with cockpit commands to co-pilot.

I wanted to ask which weather engine do you use in FSX? I tried Opus and Active Sky 2012 before and only solution working for me was REX 3 but now it has problems also so I was thinking about if I should wait for REX 4 Weather Direct or choose the other 2 options I posted in poll. Can you tell me which one do you use and why you prefer?

Hi all, I'm currently looking for a new aircraft to buy. I'm mostly interested in a short haul airliner that will be a challenge (pretty complex, ie. PMDG or Aerosoft AXE style). I've shortlisted my selection to either the Majestic Q400 or the Flight1 DC9. Which one of these would be better for short Australian regional hops? By the way, if there are any other high quality short haul airliners that I missed, by all means please suggest them below. Thank you in advance.

Hello fellow simmers, Recently i've experienced my first blue screen in FSX with windows 7 64bit after lots of years since i've upgraded from WinXP. I've launched fsx through Shade as i was doing so many years, a blue screen popped up secs after the click and the system restarted.The second attempt to load FSX was successful, but after i clicked "Fly Now", bam CTD. It appeared that the sky_xxxxx. bmps located in the main texture folder that are injected with Shade, were corrupted causing visualfx.dll to ctd. I restored the original bmps and problem is now solved. I noticed a strange problem though at the main menu that i didn't have before. No matter what time…

I want a systematic guide to getting started with Flight Simulator. I want a guide that is current, and discusses how to get started with settings, and advice on advanced configuration and problem solving. Is there such a guide (free or paid)? Thanks, Steve

Hey Does anyone know if there is any way to reuce the "landing/taxi light triangle", for AI-traffic, that illuminates the ground? I remember there i downloaded a file for Fs9 that made the triangle smaller and more realistic looking. Have been searching around for the same file for FSX without any luck. Cheers! /Zmoce

First off I would like to say thankyou so very much to all of you that have posted on this forum and others, you have helped me incalculably over the last couple of years to get my fsx running beyond my expectations. unfortunately I don't have the expertise to be able to add any fresh advice to this knowledge base, but i am here because I have an issue i cannot understand and cannot find posted anywhere. So I just landed at FSDT KLAS and for some reason the airport was raised off the ground. There was like a big square of the airport raised up from the ground. Any idea what can cause this or how I can fix it? I have landed there many times before and not seen this happen. The only thing that has changed is I am running UTX now.

Is it just my config or does anybody else have the same Problem ? While playback a recorded Video or instant Replay in P3DV2 i can't switch the OpusFSX camera view. It dosn't matter if i press the assigned key or if i select the view manualy from the OPUSFSX Server Applicaton, the Camera view will Stuck on the last selected. Switch the internal Default Camera view from P3D via the Menu works.

I would like to talk to my PC...I know that there are some 3rd party add-ons with voice recognition that will cooperate with FSX.I've seen MultiCrewExperience demo (the replays are awfull...), I have used Pro Flight Emulator (does not like hitting numbers), Voice Buddy (not a program specially developed for FSX), Radar Contact (not too many voice packs)...Is there anything I omitted?I generally fly at GA, sometimes in big irons. Hey guys. So i decide to do some movies and fun flying with close formation. I install FSRecorder,Full Fsuip,GSX,AcuFeel. My problem is: 1.Any airplane (payware or free) is turning it self if flying close to other plane like is not allowing for collision. 2.I checked FSX.cfg Fsuip settings GSX FSRecorder and cant find why its happend. 3.FSX setting for allowing crash is enable. I thinks it could be FSUIP because its not happend before coz i was flying in very close formation,Now its impossible.Its like magic hand touch your stick and plane flying instantly to left or right to avoid collision.Any ideas.? I am keen to buy a high quality addon airport for Salzburg LOWS, but can't seem to find anything on the usual sim commercial sites. I understand that Aerosoft used to sell one (developed by the Design Team I think), but I cannot find this available anywhere. Anyone have any suggestions?

I just found the FSX.cfg. Yeah me! I was wondering what the difference between the FSX.cfg and the .CFG that is creating when you save your settings in the Settings Menu?

I've spent some time tonight flying this; I can definitely tell you that this is going to be my new ride for the next little bit. Very well done, Milviz. First of, although I'm no pilot IRL, this feels very good for a FSX helicopter FDE. Fairly easy to handle, but still requires a well balanced level of control inputs. Feels like a helicopter this size should feel like - not sluggish at all, but not overpowered either. Short of an external FDE or physics addon such as HTR, thIs may just be the best feeling helicopter I've flown in FSX. Once uploading your PFPX FP into your A/C FMC is it common practice to also manually add the appropriate SIDs and STARs to your Route? It seems upon entering the Co Route into your FMC PFPX doesn't load any SID/STARS in DEP/ARR or is this something that PFPX should be configured to do? I've been using PFPX primarily with the PMDG T7... Thanks!

Hi All, I'm in the process of reinstalling everything and seem to recall a few months ago that a certain Windows 7 update file caused no end of trouble for us FSX simmers. Can anyone remind me which it was? Cheers DK

Without realising i've been playing FSX (Gold version) without the DVD in my DVD drive. I take it i'm supposed to be able to do this? I never knew that I was able to play without the DVD in the drive until i opened the disc tray after a flight today and saw it was not the FSX disc but actually a Top Gear DVD sitting in there!

So I saw there is a product called REX 4 texture direct HD and another called REX essential plus with overdrive. Are these two completely different and would I need to purchase them both or is one just an updated version of the other? Thanks a lot for anyone helping with an answer.

I am trying very hard to learn how to make my own flight plans in PFPX. So far I have done very well (I think) after reading and watching many tutorials. Importing the flight plan into PMDG 737 NGX FMC is working quite well. Now this is where my problem starts, I am sitting at the gate and contact Ground with no choice to taxi with a flight plan. I am only offered VFR as a choice. How do I file my flight plan with FSX ATC?

I have been experiencing problems with my weather in Active Sky Next whereby I see accurate clouds and weather below 10,000 or so but when I fly at say 25,000 feet and above and the weather gauge shows clouds below together with precipitation all I see is clear ground and no weather,also had the same issue with Opus. The Active Sky team have been very helpful and have tried everything but they have come to the conclusion that I have an issue with my shaders and that I need to restore the original shader file. Now,I am not sure how to do this and where to go from here and if I can help it I really do not want to uninstall and re-install FSX. I should therefore …
