Looking for some help with getting a grasp on where Flight Simulation has gone over the past 5 years. In short, I have been away from flight simulation since 2009 and am ready to get back into it. When I left the main add-ons were Level-D 767, PMDG 747, GEX, UTX, FEX (REX was just coming out), and Active Sky 6.0. Things have obviously exploded since then and to put it bluntly, you could spend two weeks trying to get your head around what the pros and cons are for all of the new add-ons that are available and what you really need to have to make FSX as realistic as possible. So i have done a flight today in fsx but the landing wasn't really "on the runway", what i mean is that the landing was horrible,because the atc didn't line me up corrrectly or i didn't. It's between it(him/she) and me. Anyway, I wanted to know if there's any way i could go directly to the final approach by using a plugin or something already integrated in the sim instead of doing the whole flight, like X-Plane has the option to go directly to final approach(3nm and 10nm) and practice your landings. I chose FSX because i have the PMDG 777.( Changed my mind from the FF 777) Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi all- I'm trying to figure out where (in what folder) the cloud.bmps reside in FSX. I want to move them over to P3D as I use 512 clouds and these are apparently not available within P3D. Thanks, Mark

For some unknown reason, every time I hit the 'Y' key to go into slew mode, the scenery 'flies' off somewhere at a completely uncontrollable speed, even though my yoke etc. are correctly calibrated. Is there a particular reason for this or a way to 'reset' the sim to stop this happening? Thanks for any help.

The major carrier at my hometown airport ( KCVG ) is Delta Airlines. I know there are many more airlines that fly in and out, that I don't see in FSX. Is there a way to program the absent airlines to that airport through Traffic 360 ?

I have been trying, without much luck, to find a good panel that WILL work with the Cam-Sim 787-xxx... That will work with both FS9 or FS X Can anyone suggest a good one to try and maybe send along you acft.cfg file so I can see what I'm doing wrong with the panels I have on hand ? Mahalo, ted

I am so embarrassed, and ashamed. To this day....and I've been flight simming for 15 or more years....I HAVE NOT LEARNED HOW TO USE AN FMC! Why? I don't know. I'm lazy when it comes to this. I'm sure I could learn it and enjoy some of the fantastic aircraft that's available; however, I fly GA and passenger aircraft where I could use the default GPS. I promise (again) that I will take some time this Summer to take a tutorial and try to learn the Sids and the Stars and the wonderful things this autopilot can do. I feel compelled though, to confess. What in the h_ _ _ is wrong with me? Stan ps. Whew! Now I feel better.

Typically it takes a matter of a few seconds to get to the FSX opening screen after I double click the FSX shortcut. I did a quick search around this forum and didn't see anyone bring up the fact that the A2A Piper Cherokee has been in beta testing since the beginning of March. See this post on their forums. I must say, after buying their 172 and seeing how it has progressed with the past updates, the Cherokee will be an instant buy for me. They posted this photo of the cockpit around Christmas time. Is there anyplace to plug in a tail number and the aircraft type to determine who owns the aircraft and its home base? A couple of examples: Citation X PH-PKX and Citation X OE-HAK.

Took my Dash to the Rocky Mountain region for some practice in snowy conditions. On approach to KCOS, I was on the glideslope, all was well, and then a couple of miles out, my GS was replaced by the dreaded red X. I flew to KAPA and experienced the same thing. I then tried to land at KDEN, and the same thing. At KDEN, was on the GS for runway 7, looked good, and then at 6 miles out, got the red X. The error is repeatable. The Localizer appears to be working ok, it's just the glideslope as far as I can tell. I started to think this might be altitude related, since these airports are all above 5000 ft. Hi! Is there a way to zoom map into a point (for example: to see STAR route) so the chosen point/fix will be in the centre, or the present position must be in the centre all the time?

I downloaded and installed the freeware FSX-native version of Eagle Rotorcraft Simulation's Piaggio P.180 Avanti. I thought it was working fine (a bit high-powered, but I've never flown a real P.180, so I don't know how realistic that was), but then I tried it at night. I turned on the gauge lights, and most of the gauges (including the Attitude Indicator and digital autopilot number displays) were washed out so that they did not display. They glowed, but the numbers and the artificial horizon (among other things) went away. This only happened in the VC, but like most people, I much prefer the VC to the 2D instrument panel in FSX. Other than personal preference (or lack of choice for multiple monitor users) are there any performance differences between running FSX in full screen or windowed mode?

I would like to be able to use the FSX flight planner and GPS for VFR and IFR flights. How will I be able to do this? I usually fly with the skyhawk and Boeing 737 all default aircraft. Thank you.

Hi guys. I want to ask for something related to the FPS inside the VC cockpit and the exteriar view of the plane. First of all I set the FPS limit to 30 inside the FSX limiter. So the problem is that inside the PMDG 737 NGX VC the frames are not stable at all, while in the exterior view the fps are stable enough. Inside the cockpit the fps are from 20-30 and sometimes below 20 and in exterior 29-30. When i am at over FL200 the fps inside the cockpit are more stable, while at an airport are not! Do you know why this happen? Is there any solution to that? Can you help me? Thanks a lot!

Guys, Please, please help an FSX user who is fast losing interest in FSX and VATSIM! I have FSX installed on a new PC, GTX680 etc. and have nVidiaInspector installed and configured as per Word Not Allowed's guide. FSX runs an absolute treat in all areas EXCEPT... When I install SB4.exe I firstly encounter an error at the end of the install relating to a User32.dll error when checking in event viewer. Secondly, SB4 seems to install ok following this error and I can load outside of and inside FSX no problem, connect to VATSIM and operate normally. HOWEVER as soon as I load SB and the window appears in FSX, I start to receive vSync tearing!!!! This is complet…

I've been over on the VAFS forums, and the conclusion is some yes and some no. Does anyone from Majestic have a workaround which consistently works to use this plane with the software. VAFS cannot detect the engine start which I believe has to do with the external FDE. This is the only issue which is stopping me from purchasing the plane.

Do you start OPUSFX first, then start P3D? Or vice versa? Everytime I start OPUS first, nothing is in the add-on menu bar. if I start OPUS at the UI screen, the sim hangs. A little advice please. Thanks

OK, so my install is about three years old now, with Win7 and I can't help thinking that it would benefit from a drive reformat and a reinstall of Windows. The idea is that I will reinstall FSX alongside P3D and slowly move completely to P3d as and when the relevent sceneries and aircraft that I own are made compatible. The problem I have is that I have so many addons and hardware that I really find it difficult to fire up any enthusiasm, not necessarily with the prospect of all the aircraft and sceneries I'd have to reinstall, but more things like EzDok FSUIPC, LINDA etc. Can anyone suggest what I would need to do to somehow retain as much as possible with these kinds of…

On my miserable system if I set FPS to 21 my gpu usage is around 35% but my CPU is 80%. However, if I set FPS to 40 the GPU goes to 80% and the CPU moves to 40% (over all 4 cores). It seems that people with financial restrictions might adjust the FPS limiter to achieve a load balance between the CPU and the GPU. This is over the Pacific Northwest mountains in ORBX. P3DV2.2
