I have the Opus weather program and I like it because it's easy to start and use with very low hit on performance. I might also point out that I have AS2012 so I would only need to buy an upgrade to ASN. My impression from what I have read here is that ASN is even better than Opus. My understanding is that weather radar has not been possible to do in a realistic way in FSX before but that has changed with ASN and only in ASN. Is that correct? I find AS2012 more complicated to use and above all it take longer time to start and has a bigger impact on performance compared to Opus. Has that changed in any way with ASN?

Hello everyone, this is a highly debated and opinionated subject with lots of ###### on both sides. I personally prefer GEX World and I will get into why later, for now I will make this short and to the point about the 2 competing products. GEX World and FTX Global do the SAME EXACT THING (as of 9/5/2013), right now there are TEXTURES ONLY. I am having a problem with black skies now and again. Sometimes the sky turns black ahead of me, but then it returns to normal if I look in a slightly different direction. Sometimes it turns black if I change view direction, but it returns to normal if I look ahead again. During a quick flight test that I have just done (nothing to do with trying to work out the cause of this problem), I noted something. I am using the UK2000 Belfast Aldergrove Xtreme airport with ORBx FTX Northern Ireland, and the "black sky problem" reared its ugly head again. Hi all,I'm new to simming, and I have a FSX problem. I've done a "repair install" but this keeps happening:-start the program-the program opens on the "missions" page (not the home page)-click on "free flight" - the Hawaii Checkout mission is loaded (aircraft, origin and destination, voice-over, mission compass)-laboriously set up aircraft, origin, etc-at end of flight, the "end of mission, press esc"-after I press esc, I get the "no reward" mission end pageDuring the flight, I constantly have to remove the mission compass (which does give the correct distance to Hana!!!)Is there any way to prevent the program from starting up in the Hawaii Checkout mission, or even bette…

Hello, I I just wanted to start a Shared Cockpit flight with Maddog MD-82 (v3.3), but I recognized that in the fsx toolbar the Maddog button is missing. I downloaded it from simmarket and installed the two livery packs (and the AIRAC 1404). I started the Load Manager selected the correct aircraft and closed it. While closing I selected ready for takeoff. But when I loaded the flight (over the fsx not over the load manager and with the correct aircraft) I don't have a Maddog Option in Addon Menu up in the fsx menu and she has loaded the cold and dark state not ready for takeoff. Hi guys! I flew the Milviz 737 from Havana to St Maarten today, and as I approached TNCM ATC directed me to RW28. I got this uncommon landing on tape and uploaded it to youtube, but I'm a bit curious whether RW28 landings are possible in real life? It felt like a "mini Kai-Tak". I don't see any problems with doing this in smaller aircraft, but it was a bit tight for the 737. Not my best landing... And try to ignore that Cessna landing in the other direction, typical FSX AI behaviour...

So i have had the ngx installed for a while now however recently i have been having problems such as the screen going black if i were for example check the flight analysis or go to settings or change the speed at which the simulator was running (from normal to 8 times faster) and ect. this is the only product in my simulator that does this and i have no clue what to do about it i have tried to uninstall, and reinstall the product i have even tried to uninstall and reinstall FSX. oh by the way the screen does not always go black some times i will just loose like 50% of the graphics airport terminals will be gone and maybe the VC will be see through that sort of thing. …

I have been trying this, but I have blown of course of the runway with heavy crosswinds without the Autopilot correcting this and I end up to the side of the runway. Am I doing something wrong?

When flying the A319 the mouse click spots disappear in the VC and return after cycling through a few views. Adjusting the zoom doesn't matter ,I use .6 as default. Does anybody know a work around or a bug fix to prevent this from happening? I'm using the latest version.

I quite like flying the old school prop and jetliners of the 1950s and 1960s but IMHO they look out of place when you drop them into FSX with modern Boeings and Airbuses everywhere. Does anyone know of a way to roll back the clock and completely replace the existing planesets with aircraft from a bygone era? Yes I know the airports will still have their 21st century look to them, but at least the other aircraft will match the era of the one you are flying. Cheers

Evening All, So i have had this problem for a while now, but have never really addressed it. It seems ( Most noticible ) when Taxing in or out at slower speeds ( E.G 0-30 Knots ) Its noticble that i am getting some stuttering. Im acheiving really smooth FPS, like anywhere from 25 - 30 Fps, but getting stutters. I was reading somewhere that texturebandwithmult may do something with stutters, i have had it from 40 to 80 to 120 and to 400, but following kostas guide i have it atm set at 40. I have my Affinity mask set to 15 instead of 14, i have Texturemaxload set to 21, im ususing steves dx10 fixer, i have frames set to 30 in Nvidea inspector and unlimited in…

I just purchased Jetstream Designs' KLIT (Little Rock, AR, USA). For anyone who is a fan of regional airports, this is a must buy, and it also works in P3Dv2.2. It's the perfect airport for GA, Corporate, 737, Q400, and CRJ flights. The developer has really done a nice job with this airport. Airport buildings and static aircraft are very well done. You also get custom buildings in the town of Little Rock, making this scenery a great deal. Lastly, the developer is very customer friendly. Hi all, I've been looking around the web for an app that could display FSX instruments live on my Samsung Galaxy tab 3. Basically, I'd just like to have a second monitor-type app that links to my PC and displays FSX instruments without delay. I've seen Splashtop X Display and Air Display, but both have some negative reviews and I'm hesitant in buying either one without some advice first. Thanks for any suggestions!

When I booted up FSX today the Aircraft selection screen was completely black and when I proceed into FSX the main screen is also completely black. After searching the forums for answers I've tried a system restore (Win 7) but the problem remains. Deleted the fsx.cfg but when FSX is rebuilding the .cfg file I get a message that it cannot find the default flight file and the process aborts. Now I'm at the stage where I'll have to try and repair FSX. Question: Do I need to un-install SP1 and SP2 before I run the repair? or can I just run repair and then re-install SP1 and 2?, assuming the repair solves the problem. I just built a new budget xputer for flying FSX. Still in process installing my usual add ons already logged 3-5 hours flying 310 & Baron Was gonna add HIMEMFIX=1 to FSX.cfg but I have no fsx.cfg FILE!? I3470 3.2CPU 8 G Ram and FSX GOLD with Acceleration. any explanations?

I thought I'd mastered the VNAV until I followed a flight plan that would not allow me to enter one or show TOD. The plan is YBNA-YSTW( route Berni-Y23-Olrip ) is a short flight with an ILS on 30R at YSTW. Here is the problem. The transition for the ILS 30R is Bradd at a height of 5600'. On the Majestic Q400 FMS the ILS arrival for 30R is entered, when added to the plan, Bradd is shown with a height of 5600, this is as it's supposed to be, now while some 150nm from YSTW and while trying to set up VNAV for Bradd, the VNAV component will not allow me to enter any data for this, or transfer a TOD to the plan, even though Bradd is shown. Hello guys, I built a new machine, It was not designed for FSX but for games in general. I`m running: AMD FX-8320 @ 4.4GHz 2x4GB G.Skill Ripjaws X @ 1866MHz Sapphire HD 7950 Dual-X OC 120gb Samsung SSD 1TB Seagate Barracuda FSX is installed on the Barracuda drive, but I do not think it would affect it's performance. So, when flying the 737NGX, I get like 10-20Fps on VC.. 2D Cockpit is fne, I get 30 (its locked to it), but it kinda sucks, I think a 8320 at 4.4GHz could handle it. I already used Word Not Allowed's guide and It really helped, but.. I do really want to fly at 30FPS My graphics are on medium-high, but running on everything low or everything …

I have this installed in my scenrey library. In correct positions, I ran the terrain tool and it said it set my terrain cfg for fs global. Sadly I do not see any differences after running the terrain tool. Oh turns out I was just looking in the wrong places. I was around lake tahoe, known for mountains and I guess fs global didn't need to do anything. I went to MMMX without global on. A ton of flat land. Then I turn it on and mountains appear looking much better than default. Problem fixed.

I thought I'd give the B58 a bit of an outing and ended up painting one. :rolleyes: I have to say that inspiring paint jobs on these things are few and far between. I never really noticed any FPS drop and have been using autogen complexity extremely dense and autogen dense and everything has seemed fine. However recently my FPS has dropped quite a lot. The only things I have added recently were ORBX PNW, and REX4. Could either of those be causing a problem for some reason? I also use ASN and I have the cloud settings at default so I don't have a super high draw cloud distance or that many layers of clouds. Also the FPS seem to drop dramatically when there are a ton of clouds around. I did not notice this with REX+OD+ASN when there were tons of clouds like overcast and low ceilings but with REX4+ASN I am seeing like a 15-18 FPS drop w…

After I reinstalled the PMDG 737NGX to fix a problem, I noticed that, while the interior views were all fine, the exterior views in the EZDok camera were not displaying correctly. When I switch to those views, the camera is positioned in the correct location, but the interior model of the aircraft is display instead of the exterior. If I switch to the view from say, spot view, it displays the exterior model, but the camera isn't positioned properly and can't scroll (so basically, it doesn't work). I've tried running the config program, but that did nothing. Any suggestions?Thanks,boeing247

Hi, I recently built my new PC (specs on my profile) and upgraded from FS9 to FSX. For some weeks now, I've just been putting up with the following issue: Firstly, FSX is running in 32-bit colours, as is my GPU and Windows 7. Secondly, both FSX, Windows 7 and my GPU are running the same 1920x1080 resolution. I've gone through countless threads saying 'turn on 32-bit colours' and 'make sure your resolution is the same', but could not find anything helpful. The above picture is at ORBX YMML - and all the taxiways are ground textures. When at a normal addon airport (eg. FSDT KLAX), I still get colour banding around my lights.
