I'm looking for an addon that will put "game" into the FSX -- specifically something that allows for a career mode. Any suggestions? It seems like FsPassengers was (maybe still is?) the king of the hill for a while. I tried out the demo version, and it does indeed look pretty cool & very robust, but it also seems to lack an automatic flight planning feature ... I think. Hi Guys I've recently done a total reinstall of FSX owing to a hardware change and have just about got everything set up how I think it should be. I've just done my first flight - UK2000 EGGD to Aerosoft LFPO and was amazed at how bad my FPS was once I got to LFPO. I got around 8-11 FPS from about 10 miles out of the airport which wasn't enough for a smooth approach. Bear in mind this was with ZERO AI traffic (yet to install UT2) and only a light sprinkling of cloud. I can only imagine how bad it would be if I had a lot of traffic and a thunderstorm! Hi there, I just bought this marvelous aircraft but I am having issues regarding the calibration and setup of my hardware via CP as per documentation. I managed to fly a pattern without calibration so my axes seems to be recocgnise by the software. However, when opening the CP with FSX and Q400 running in background, the calibration values does not change when moving hardware. My understanding is that I should able to read "live" the values corresponding to my hardware position so as to set it up...Am I wrong? I managed to get values by going back to the game, move hardware, go back to CP to read the new value and do that each time...Is that the way i nees to do…

I purchased an SSD in December for the purpose of loading P3D v2.0 on it. I've come to realize that it still needs a lot of work before I would be satisfied flying it, so in the trash bin it goes. What is the easiest way to move FSX from my HDD to my newly emptied SSD?

Not so very important compared with all the recent fixes, but one of the issues I now have now, is that the characters on the Menu Bar at the top are all blurred and hard to read. With a 1280 x 1024 it's ok: with 2560 x 1024 it apparent, but with 3840 x 1024 TripleHead2Go the letters are mostly unreadable. This is full screen at 3840, with Windowed mode for the other sizes. I've played with the minimal controls that ccc gives you, but it doesn't change them. Would any of you have any ideas at all? I'm stumped on this one.

Anyone using MCE can you tell me how to interact with the Cabin Crew and what kind of commands can be given to them? Like FS2Crew do they make safety announcement etc.? There don't seem to be anything written about this on the user manual. Many thanks, Ronnie

I've struggled to find a method of replying to ATC choices by programming numbers 1 - 4 to buttons on my Saitek yoke. I kept thinking back to around 1980 when I was lucky enough to get a guided tour of RAF Finningley, a local training base. I sat in one of the Jet Provost cockpit and asked the technician if the red button on the joystick fired the guns. No, it was for clicking on the radio ... After some experimenting, I used the Saitek software to create a profile the programmed the keys I needed. First off I'd like to say on the Aerosoft Airbus X Extended the checklist feature is superb. I love the fact that there are voices that tell you what to do and as wells as do it for you, I discovered this feature while I was in flight, and the callouts and stuff are absolutely great. however when ATC asked me to descend (IFR) I forgot to run the checklist and started my decent. Upon realising this, I went to the second FMC and started the pre decent checklist (because I forgot, ) after completion, it said to start decent, but I had already started decent and it did not correct it. Has anything positive ever been written about FS9/FSX ATC? With a couple of exceptions*, does everybody honestly believe it is that terrible? I have both Radar Contact and PFE, which are both fine products, but that doesn't make FS a throw-away either. Moreover, Edit VoicePack has done wonders to fine tune certain elements such as adding military tactical callsigns and a host of other additions. As far as FS being totally unrealistic, and at the risk of being villified, I simply don't agree (after more than 30 years experience with ATC in the real world). I bought one on eBay for £6, free postage, did a bit of a spray job, mounted the four controllers on a plastic base and programmed the buttons. Works a treat! Never liked the C-47, or Dakota as its known over here. Old slow and antiquated, I associate it with the pleasure flights it used to offer at RAF Finningley airshow back in the early 80's. But as I've been updating my default aircraft with nice liveries and textures, updating some of the cockpits and sounds, i came across Manfred Jahn's Skytrain. I like this. I've just installe d two large speakers for FSX from an old music system with plenty of bass, and tat Skytrain thunders through the air, it sounds fantastic (I am using a purchased sound add on, though, with engines not quite in sync that splutter and cough). One more noob question I guess... Despite having AI turned up to 100% on general aviation traffic, There is none visible in the sim. Why would that be? WOAI and Military AI packages work just fine that I have installed myself. The default TrafficAircraft.bgl is in the correct directory, so what gives? Eric

I hardly ever think about terrain mesh. I guess my mind, generally, thinks "hilly enough". Not a resounding endorsement of accuracy. (Discovering, this morning, that FTX makes their mesh at 10m and then, further, discovering that my mesh slider was, somehow, still at 38m was an eye opener this morning.) But, lately, I've been flying in more mountainous areas looking at them and thinking "Hmmm...not quite right." I did some Googling about "mesh" and found that FSGenesis and FS Global Ultimate are the dominant products. Hello I usually fly in California / USA. KSMX and probably up to KSFO and down to KSAN.I really don't need the whole world I suppose it would be cool to have most of the west coast but it would not get much use.I know there is Mega Scenery, ORBX covers North West USA and there are some freeware airports out there.I have REX Overdrive which totally transformed the sim.Any other suggestions for add on both payware and freeware that would enhance my California Experience?Thanks

Hello! I have found out that it is a pain to wait the 7 minutes for the sim to load, then have a CTD because Vatsim takes too much memory combined with my thousands of addons on my under equipped pc. So i want to install a clean, stripped-down version of FSX in a different path on my hard drive and use that just for Vatsim. How can i install a second installation of FSX on my hard drive? So when I start FSX from either my start menu or in the FSX Root folder as soon as the start screen pops up it says Microsoft Flight Sim Has stopped working. NOte that this is a new freshly installed copy of FSX Gold Edition and its legal i actually payed for it, not a torrent. There are no addons in the FSX root folder but what i did notice is in the, AppData>Roaming>Microsoft>FSX. there are only 3 files. I tried Repairing fsx with the CD but it didnt work. Please help!! I've been re-assigning paint works to liveries with UT2. Most of them are working fine but there are 2 files that don't seem to be working. FAIB Thomson 737-8W and United Traffic Team's 7878 for Royal Brunei are appearing as solid black shapes. The shape of the aircraft is accurate but the paint isn't showing. Any ideas why? Thanks

Hello all, In recent months I've become very interested in using flight sims, leading to a recent purchase of FSX. Very interesting so far! I learn something new every day. Here's my main question: is there anything general I can do to increase the performance of the sim, a.k.a. certain tweaks that "everyone should do," inside the fsx.cfg or elsewhere? I enjoy FSX but it's not as smooth as other games I play, and I know that's due in part to the age of the software and the way it was developed. I haven't made exact measurements of FPS (and I can't at the moment, see below), but my guess would be that I'm getting between 20-35 FPS at most, while I'm used to 45+ in…

Does anyone know why my cursor turns in the the normal cursor but with a flashing loading circle above it when I load into the Airbus X Extended or switch views in any other payware addon? It makes is lag and the sound is choppy. I can open up the settings window and still hear the sounds but it quits being choppy.

I posted a question about this in the hardware forum 5d ago and no responses so I will post here in case you own this controller. I talked w/ Mad Catz tech support and they are aware of the issue and are fixing it in a driver due out 'in a couple of weeks...' FYI. The controller is always visible in Printers & Devices, but currently w/ each reboot into Win 7 64-bit you have to manually spin the wheel in the calibration/testing dialogue then it picks it up and works fine. Their driver revision is intended to solve the small inconvenience. Cheers! It's a very cool product BTW ;o)
