Help! I'm having real problems getting past the IFR checkride in FS2k2. Everything goes fine until i enter the hold over the Seattle VOR. I sit there happily drawing neat little ovals in the sky and holding altitude very nicely (even if I do say so myself), but it never tells me to exit the hold. The instructor doesn't fail me, but after an hour I start to wonder about fuel and such. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Hi,I am getting a new computer built (P4 2.2GHz-768MB RDRAM-GeForce4 Ti4600). The hard drive is a 120GB & Window XP OS. My question is - should I partition the Hard Drive into smaller sections using Partition Magic? I have heard that big drives waste lots of space. Is this still the case with Windows XP. (My existing comp runs Windows98 SE and the Hard Drive is only 16GB!!! so partitioning hasn't been an issue)Any advice appreciated - might be useful to mention that the machine will be used for Office and Graphics applications as well as FS.ThanksKeith Cocker

What, without all the freeware upgrades - aircraft, add-ons, and make-ups for things not present in the Flight Simulator series, well, Microsoft would have to do these things themself.Yes, freeware is the ER of Flight Simulator, which has no standing "Do Not Revive" order, and pumps ongoing life support into it - even after the announcement that 2002 will not be patched, a virtual suicide, of course. If Microsoft doesn't care enough to fix its own products, it's because they can readily rely on dedicated individuals to spend their own time (and money) trying to do so. Guaranteed. If the same people who have made all the enhancements to the series were to get their hands on …

When viewing my aircraft from the 2,4,8,10 o'clock views the text gets washed out. How do I force those textures to stay put? Here is an example of what I'm seeing (not my thread, just example pics): Look at the first two shots, see the blurred text?http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/DCForumID47/3041.htmlI've notice others with crisp looking pics from all angles so I know it can be done. Thanks

After 6 months with fs2k2, I have to say that I am still impressed with the default FS2k2 a/c, props and jets. I am currently doing a 4000 nm flight with the default 777 and it works very well incl. realistic fuel flow and decent N1. True, the engine simulation is imperfect with all three default jet airliners, and the VS is excessively strong, but with nursing of the N1/TOGA, etc., one can fly very well. I also have good fortune capturing the LOC/GS with almost every flight. In addition, I can do semi autolands very nicely in the 737 and 744. I've downloaded a limited number of other 3rd pty a/c and some of them are also fabulous, like FFG DC-10, HJG 707, the Falcon …

I am completely rebuilding my AI Traffic "FlightPlans" file. I know some folks have developed tools to make this process easier than my line-by-line approach (but, killing time around the office ... what better way?).Does anyone know where I can find a listing of airports and associated callsigns? Many thanks !

I finally got around to networking my old computer to my new one. I installed FSWide on both and with a little tinkering, finally got a connection. The hassle seemed to be because the new system is XP and the old one is Win98. I'm using the IXP protocol and the only change I really had to make was to specify the server address in the ini file. In any case, all seemed well and I started up FSMeteo on the old system. It works fine for awhile but after about 10 minutes the new system running FS2K2 freezes solidly and emits a sound like a stuck car horn (albeit at a lower volume). The freeze seems to correspond to FSMeteo downloading weather. I'm using the latest verion of FS…

Hey everyone, I went flying in a POSKY 747 with the default fs2k2 panel, but when in the cockpit, my fps were considerably less than with any other panel (ie 737,777). I remember seeing a "tweaked" version of the panel with supposedly smoother gauges. Does anyone know where I can get that panel or maybe even another faster one?-Cal

  19. Good Day Everyone,I have just returned from one of the most amazing theatrical performances I believe I have ever seen or will likely ever see. I am referring to a performance of Charlie Victor Romeo. This text is taken directly from their website: http://www.charlievictorromeo.com/One of the most unique and riveting theatrical experiences to hit New York in seasons, CHARLIE VICTOR ROMEO (CVR) is a live performance documentary derived entirely from the "Black Box" transcripts of six major real-life airline emergencies. Allowing the audience into the tension-filled cockpits of actual flights in distress, CHARLIE VICTOR ROMEO is a fascinating portrait of the psychology of cr…

I am hooked on VCs now that I have Tracker IR and we've seen what is possible in the Falcon and Cheyenne. I would LOVE to see a few of our old favorites updated with VCs - among them:- PIC 767-the only drawback to using PIC is the lack of a VC. While you get a wonderful view sitting on the nosecone of a 767 flying at FL340, I long for the frame of reference a few well placed pillars and some fuzzy gauges provide during landing.- RD4 NATs- I'm feeling pretty nostalgic lately and would love to look around the cockpit and even take a stroll down the aisle. I've got to believe Roy would like us to be able to do this too! Those are mine but perhaps you folks have others...Davi…

Yesterday I took my 1st flight in the default King air 350, I found it hard to fly, maybe a little pitch sensitive?? I almost coudn't get to land it on the grass next to the runway. Is there a reworked air file? I really love this plane as well as the Baron 58, which looks to me a little more "stable" in the air. Any help or tips would be appreciated. Also, when taxing i found the engines way too powerful, can get 50 knots on Idle, is that right? I disminished the RPM almost to the minimun to slow it down, can this be done in the real thing? I've heard that taxing a low RPM settings is not allowed because the propelers produce a great noise that would be unconfortable f…

While I've followed the controversy on critiquing freeware and I won't go there. I will, however, critique a payware plane I bought from FSD because I think if I had read this prior to buying it, I probably wouldn't have. I bought the commander this weekend, largely because the Cheyenne by the same company is so good - not perfect but close. The Commander seems a bit half-baked to me. The avionics look cool but the VC is horrible. I have the IR Tracker, so VCs have taken on new meaning to me. The propeller is offcenter ( a lot!) and it is just one ugly plane. The sounds are about the worst I've heard, except maybe a few that didn't come with any. This is especially true a…

I am looking for a program to display a radar image of any area in which I choose to fly. Showing at least airports and beacons and also AI aircraft as a minimum. This would ideally run on a second PC which is networked to the 'Flt Sim PC'.I have tried one 'radar' program but that gave some strange effects and so I abandoned it.Can anyone recommend one, please?Nigel
