Hello, Maybe someone can help me with a problem, or at least confirm whether it is a driver issue or not. Using either the latest ATI driver (Catalyst 2.1) or OmegaPlutonium 1.02 released yesterday, I get the following weird behavior. If I set up a flight with total overcast from 500' to say 5000' to practice total pea soup ILS approaches, the cloud layer becomes just a white horizontal boundary, from 500' to maybe 510' from cockpit view, 2D and virtual, but from an external view, the plane is correctly in overcast. From the cockpit view, instead of the sky being gray, it is blue, but the surrounding terrain, including Autogen trees on hillsides are pure white! When I …

Hi all,Since tweaking my system and installing only the more reliable Nvidia drivers, lock ups are rarer than they were, but I'm pretty sure that the majority of my lock ups are entirely linked to ATC.It doesn't matter whether I use the default ATC or project AI or any other addon ATC tweaks like the many shufflers available. The fact is that the greater the percentage of ATC I set the more likelyhood of a lock up or crash.The classic case is when I set ATC to more than 50%. This is what happens every time: I fly around for say 12 minutes, and suddenly the hard disk light will go permanently on, the HD will thrash around for about 20 seconds and then I get the inevitable …

I've done several searches on this subject and I know it's been discussed before but I couldn't seem to find an exact answer. After trying several Dets I'd like to know which drivers other GF2 owners are using to get the best performance/image quality in FS2k2. I was using the 12.90's for awhile, then I tried the 29.42's, and now I'm using the 23.12's but I wonder if any of these is truly the best driver for GF2s in FS2k2. I do play other games such as JKII, RTCW, and Half-Life/TFC, but FS2k2 is the only game that I'm even worried about performance in so I don't really care if the optimal driver for FS2k2 for GF2s isn't the optimal driver for other games. You recently responded to my post regarding my frustration with down loading planes that did not work. Being new to FS2002 and this forum, I did not know how to go about making the planes workable.Thanks to your advice, I have now managed to get six of my downloaded planes working! I think I have the hang of it now.I appreciate you being patience enough to take the time to explain the process to a newby. Some people would not have been so kind.Again, thank you so much. The top view shows your standard 767PIC cockpit view. We are landing in really poor weather - 1/2 mile visibility. As you can see at 190 RA I am finally seeing some runway lights but at 200 ft it was still blackness - most likely this would have been a missed approach.Now to the so called "landing view" below. Notice that at 300 RA I am already able to see approach lights - this landing will be a 'piece of cake'. Quite a difference. The landing view is not only superior for IFR flights, for VFR flying it is simply awesome.Do you have a landing view in your favorite simulator ? *:-*Michael J.

I had to format my HD a few days ago and I am going through the process of reinstalling everything. I installed FS2002 and everything went well the first time it ran. On the second time I try to run the program it keeps giving me the following message "MS has detected 3rd Party Software that may not be compatible with this version of software" and points to the traffic.dll file. It gives the option of "Yes" to load it anyway or "no" not to load it. It does not matter what I press it shuts down after this. I have loaded this software numerous times before and this is the first problem I have ever had with it. Any suggestions?

AllI have been simming for 10 years but mostly military. I recently got involved with FlyII and moved to FS. I spend as much time as I can between work and family, but not as much as I would like sometimes. I I really love the hobbie, forums and the anticipation of the great products that have come and will come in the future. I am a programmer by trade and have proficiency in a couple of languages including C and object pascal. I have done a little VB but prefer the aforementioned languages by choice. Anyway, I really would love to write something that the majority of the users can use. Im not a painter nor do I wish to dabble with flight models. Gauges dont do anything …

I have been trying to get your FedEx Caravan repaint to work and it won't... I've installed it properly by first copying the textures from the default into a new texture folder, then overwriting the c208b_t.bmp file with your new one, setting up the cfg to recognize the new textures. But when I select the plane it still shows the old blue stripe paint job.... not the FedEx one. Any ideas on why this is happening. I have the same problem on a 737 repaint for Southwest I tried too.Brian

Ive about had it with..ahem...you know. Download speeds as of late have plummetted. Im on a decent DSl and routinely get nice fast d-loads. The speeds have dropped to dial up like in the last few weeks and I only go there now if I absolutely cant find the file anywhere else. I humbly request ALL freware developers to post your stuff to sites other than these guys, its just frusatrating. I usually can get in after a few tries so that didnt bother me too much. I just see a lot of good stuff there that isnt getting uploaded to other "better"sites.Hornit

I'm surprised that no one has commented on the news that Jan Visser's gmax version of the R4d has been cancelled by Roy chaffin! I'm not happy with this announcement after seeing all the work that Jan has put into the gmax version Roy just cancelled it. Its not right. I understand the problem from the announcement but the work is done why not let it be finished with this last update? If any of you have been following the work on the Gmax version you'd see why I'm upset. It was one of the best planes done as far as i'm concern'd fininshes right up there with Rob Youngs and others version of the falcon 50, whats the flight sim world coming to when things like this happen! …

Go to flightsim.com (yea, I finally got in for once) and look for this file uploaded on 6-26-02, a10a.zip. It is a A10 with a custom panel and sounds and a virtual cockpit. It has rolling wheels and every other goodie on it as well. It is VERY nice. Anyone up for a little follow the leader out in the Nevada desert on VATSIM? Contact me and we can set it up for maybe tomorrow night with this new A10.

I'm thinking about purchasing the PSS 747 or the 777-300.However ,Wilco's PIC 767 external model absolutely demolished my framerates so I was wondering if anyone can tell me how the PSS models stack up.Thanks

Hi,I just downloaded the new EL AL 767 package designed by Yarden Ben-Dor & Gidi Vitkon - the textures are absolutely stunning !I generally prefer to fly GA aircraft, but this package is an absolute must - the level of detail is totally incredible !Two thumbs up for an excellent work - this kind of perfection is rarely found in freeware - beautiful job guys !Take careTwister

I highly recommend that fellow Flight Simmers optain and read the very famous book writtern by ERNEST K GANN called FATE IS THE HUNTER.This book details his experiences as a Airline Pilot starting with DC-2 and DC-3 flying just before the 2nd World World and continues from there.The book was orginially released in 1961 and is still in print. Copies are available at Libraries but you might have to place an inter-library request or you should be able to order a copy from your local book store (Chapters here in Kamloops had the book in stock with their avaition books).This is one of the best written books I have ever read (and I've read a lot of books over my 58 years!)

Ok you Gurus out there... Well, I'm a bit confused with XP, look:I have Win XP Home Edition, and when installing it, I set up 1 user: Etienne (no password). When having a look in Control Panel/User Accounts, there is 1 user, and that's "Etienne", which has administrative rights because it's (so far) the only user.Now, when booting, "Etienne" gets logged on automatically, no logon screen. When accessing the logon screen by clicking Start/Log off "Etienne", there comes the logon screen with one (1) user: Etienne. Also in Control Panel/Accoutns there is 1 user.So far - so good.Well, recently I had to boot in safe mode, and "Etienne" did NOT get logged on automatically - the …

I went to MS and downloaded Windows ME version of 8.1b. It installed without any problems. However, when I ran the DirectX Diag program to confirm the new version 8.1b it reports I still have only 8.1, no b appended. Can anyone else confirm this to be true. I confirmed that I indeed download the correct version. ThanksCOP

I like to fly the AA 727-200 Advanced by Charles Fox. One of the main reasons for this sre the GREAT sounds.BUT -- when switching to spot plane view, I find that the sound volume is WAY too loud. The new "fly-by" view (which replaced the control tower view is just right .And PLEASE don't say to turn down the speaker volume!!!

Just read about the end of the Gmax R4D with virtual cockpit program and am rather confused. I just purchased the CD version of the R4D-6, new Gmax model with VC, 8th edition and it works quite well.Are we talking about the same aircraft and panel here?Mike
