Hello. I'm finishing my first FSX only PC build and will use headphones through satellite speakers most of the time. When I am not, is it worth it to have a subwoofer? Are there a lot of lower-end sounds in FSX or add-on aircraft? If it will not make much of a difference I would rather just use to semi-decent speakers and my headphones. I heard many add-on aircraft don't activate those "butt kicker" chair shakers, I assume those are running off of some kind of bass signal. PS I am somewhat knowledgeable about speakers, I used to built car stereos for a living, not building myself up just FYI. Thanks.

Hello all, Looking for advice. I'm getting back in to FS after a break and would like to get the PMDG 737NGX and ASN, but I wasn't sure how my system would hold up. I have a first gen I7-920 with 12GB ram and a GeForce GTS-450 video card. I run FSX now with pretty decent frames with more than a few WOAI packages installed and running the old ActiveSky 6.5. I don't want to shell out a bunch of cash if it looks like my older I7 won't be up to it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Ken

Hi I just installed FSX base game, and without thinking overlooked the acceleration pack. I put Orbx FTX Global in, so now I am wondering is it OK to just add acceleration? Or will it overwrite things that FTX put in? Thanks!

Was landing my NGX at EDDL... Spot the problem:

Just went through a perfect storm of change on my computer. i built an all new rig except for the hard drives and in the meantime, moved to a new address. So here I sit with all new hardware and a new provider and IP. Of course FSX is asking to activate again. I was just wondering what to expect after that as I have a massive amount of addons loaded as well. Am I going to need to reactivate all the scenery and aircraft I have installed? Just a little nervous about what to expect. Lots of topics on reinstalls but could not find anything specific to this.

Hi Guys, I've just noticed that my AI traffic don't turn their nav lights (red, green and strobe lights) when taxiing and taking off? I can see the red lights and flashing strobe of aircraft in the air and when landing. Does anyone know why? I'm using Voxatc and DX10 Fixer along with a mix of WOAI models/textures and UT2 traffic. Hey Guys, I recently purchased PMDG 777-200. At most 1 month ago. i want to use weather radar in the aircraft. but dont know how to initiate it. I want to specify tht i have liscenced version of the aircraft and active sky next. i think i have god grip on the aircraft except for the weather radar. i have seen froogle sim video by which i got inspired to start searching for it. The panel whic he was using is totally not active in my aircraft. i checked for the updates but it shows that ur product is up to date. any help plzz guyz..

Hey Guys/Gals, This is my first post here on Avsim, so firstly I wanna say hey . Anyway I have a 3 monitor setup. I was able to run eyefinity on FSX no problem but I changed back to single screen a while ago. I want to get back to 3 screens. So by using Catalyst Controlley Center I made my eyefinity group as usual and it worked great! But when I go onto FSX and look at the settings there is no 5760 option in resolution. Any ideas? Using the bufferpools = 0 tweak seems to increase the frames alright, problem is that I get flashing artifacts when I'm panning in spot view or whenever there is movement of the camera only around scenery. This does not occur up the the Flight levels as I am not near the autogen. This is obviously an autogen artifact problem. Again, only happens when panning around the plane in spot view, and occasional in the VC. The flashes usually consist of autogen textures such as a building or tree, flashing across the screen for a split second. The only way I know of prevention is to re-enable bufferpools and add a poolsize number. Which I have no knowledge of what value to use…

Just a simple question for those who have the new 747. I already know how iFly does things like click spots and am fine with it, and don't want to wait for anything else.

Does anyone know if you can close a program automatically on FSX start up? I know how to start a program via the exe.xml, file but is it possible to do the reverse? Example: I have Malwarebytes running and would like to have it stop when I start FSX. Yes, I know I can stop it manually but I usually forget. :unsure:

Since installing FSX and finding that I should be able to access the in-game menu while in full screen by pressing ALT, instead of having to press ALT + Enter to go back to running in window, I have been unable to bring up the in-game menu using the ALT key. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi! First post here, I seem to be a little confused to how FSRecorder works. I got it because the instant replay in FSX was juttery for me, so I used this as an alternative. I downloaded the latest version off the website, installed it and it was all fine. When I was landing I wanted a replay of wing view so I pressed record (I was in 'virtual cockpit' view for the whole landing), landed, then stop recording and saved the file. I closed FSX, navigated to the file and opened it and pressed play. But what I didn't realise the recording just located me to where I was when I pressed 'record' and the plane just kept going (guessing if I used the ILS autopilot I would h…

Hi good simmers out there, I just wanted to know, for sure, If add ons like Accu-Feelv2, Aerosoft my traffic 2013, and others do or don't work in FSX? Also which Traffic Add on works with PMDG (B777 and B747). I'm just worried I purchase one of these Add ond and it's not compatible with PMDG products. I've heard that any Add on works with PMDG. All of the default planes and even most addon ones incorporate the default stall warning principle which warns you when you are stalling. 'Hey, that's the idea, CoolP!' No, it's not. I want that horn sounding when I'm close to a stall. Not sure where the 'legal' value is pointed at (I guess it's some 5+ kts above), but planes like the DA20 Katana or the A2A ones do it right. You can fly the horn (does on say that?), instead of getting a 'beeeeeep' when it's too late and your landing was rendered a severe impact. :o So is there a free mod available? If anyone uses the subject program I would appreciate help. Am almost sure I am following correct instructions for installation, but in assigning functions to keyboard the lua scripts of this program do not show in FSUIPC registered version menu for selections. Only defaultof FSX functions are listed. Wondering where I am erroneously trying to configure this very useful addon for FSX. Hello, I am getting an error when I start FSX- Fatal Error: Assertion Failed. I have already looked the internet and people are having the same problem, but with Squawk Box and such, but I am having it when I launch FSX. Anyone know what's going on? Maybe a fix? Thanks.

In using the default airports for Chitose, Japan (RJCC,RJCJ) I am experiencing an overlap that is interfering with the operation of several of the gates in FSX. I have tried modifying the AFCAD for RJCJ to reduce its scenery footprint but I have had no luck. I also tried applying an exclusion file to completely cover up unwanted intrusion by RJCJ but all that did was detract from some of the needed scenery in RJCC. It seems that no matter how I alter the Scenery-Addon files FSX is still grabbing the footprint from the original BGL and unfortunately, both airports share the same BGL file in the main default scenery.
